I wrote this whole long review and lost it just as I was going to send, so here is the reader's digest version. Great stuff. I loved your insights into Carter's feelings, not only about killing, but having the power of the Goulds to wield their weapons. Essentially it is part of the identity crisis she is facing, having been merged with Jolinar and retained much of her essence. As a soldier she is trained to kill as necessary to protect friends, family, hearth and country, but that alone is not the issue. Jack does an incredibly sensitive job of understanding what her feelings might be, and trying to allay her concerns. I don't think that even Daniel could have been more perceptive or comforting. Thanks for your work !!!

One more thing. Dorothy was a little girl who killed something far bigger and more dangerous than herself. She never would have been able to do it in order to get home to Kansas, but when her friends were threatened, she did what she had to do to save them. I would say that the comparison fits a little more than superficially.
