Author's Note: This is a response to the Drabble Word Challenge for the word "twilight" and is my first 100 word drabble. "Gloaming" is another word for "twilight" or "dusk" and it's just one of those words I love. Don't be surprised if this eventually turns up in a longer fic.
Chapter 1 by Hoodat Whatzit
Jack watched-waiting for the moment when the sun would slip below the horizon signaling the day's end.

The sky was a riot of color. The dull gray of the clouds transformed into luminous pinks, oranges, and rosy reds.

"Wow!" Carter stepped to the edge of the rocky ledge and stared up into the twilight sky. She was an almost silhouette against the backdrop of windswept clouds. A shaft of sunlight broke through, illuminating Carter in a blazing golden halo of light.

She turned to him and smiled.

"It's beautiful."

"Yeah," he whispered.

He watched, oblivious to the setting sun.
