"Do you love me?"
O'Neill turns and stares at me, dumbfounded. I can't blame him. I just asked him an impossible question... and why? Why? I simply blurted it out, and now I feel like an absolute idiot. I turn, hoping to hastily leave the room.
"Do I love you?" His incredulous tone stops me in my tracks. Wonderful. He's not only shocked, he's angry at me. "Do I...?"
"I'm sorry, sir," I begin, but he shakes his head, cutting me off. I cower, angry at myself and wary of him.
"Of course I love you," he admonishes me gently.
