Jack's steps barely slowed as he approached Sam's lab. He swiped his card through the reader, the door closing behind him as Sam turned from where she was studying some of those blinky lights that inhabited the room. "Sir?" she asked, leaning against a table.
"There's something I need you to confirm for me, Carter."
"Of course, sir. What is it?"
He stalked towards her slowly, watching as she straightened, watching as awareness flushed her cheeks, watching as her breath quickened the slightest bit. He paused in front of her and she lifted her head, holding his gaze right up until he got too close to keep his eyes focussed on her face. His eyes slipped shut half a second before his lips touched hers.
When they parted, her soft gasp and the taste of her on his tongue were all the confirmation he needed.
