Letter Six: Hard enough
****************
19/5/2000
Dear Jack
I sent this first class; the letter had been sitting on my desk for so long - I couldn't open it. I couldn't bring myself to find out how much I hurt you. I know I should have said goodbye but I knew if I did I'd realise this is wrong. I know nothing is the same and that it never can be again. This is how it has to be, this is what I need - to get on with my life here in Washington, without you. Just as you have to get on with yours. Don't throw your life away.
I miss you too, Jack, but please don't write anymore, it's hard enough without your letters.
All my love, Sam
