Actually the day had started very well. It was a bright May day with a lot of sunshine. Their mission was clear and easy. Daniel was busy babbling about archaeological stuff and Teal'c was doing whatever he usually did. To be honest, Jack didn't pay much attention. He was occupied with his dear Major Carter who was explaining to him, what she would probably do next week. SG-1 would have some days down and Sam planned to take her motorbike for a ride. Jack first could not believe his ears, as she told him, but now he really liked that side on her. Imagining her in leather pants and a leather jacket set a big smirky grin on his face. So Jack was trying to convince her to stop by at his lake, but as always she didn't really jump onto his proposal. But all in all, it was a very nice morning.

Now they were trapped in this rotten prison somewhere under the surface. It was dusty and dark, only lit by a few torches. The air was hard to breathe and their cell was very narrow. The Colonel thought he had seen an animal comparable to a rat running out of their cell as their capturers threw them in. Now the door was locked and there was no window to crawl out of. The
only way the little light and air could make its way into their prison was through the little gap in the door. Teal'c had taken a close look at it and came to the conclusion that the door was made of wood too thick to break. Of course they no longer possessed their weapons and so they were trapped. "Damn.I hate it when that happens." The Colonel was walking up and down the
room. Daniel was wondering how the mission had gone so wrong and Sam searched for any solution to get them out of this situation. But unfortunately there was no technical device to deal with or any other way she could think of. Teal'c was simply sitting on the wooden bench, leaning
his back against the wall. "Daniel. What do you think they gonna do with us?" Jack asked. "I don't know, Jack. I mean they are.they seemed to be so friendly and now.I have no idea." He shrugged his shoulders. He felt helpless. SG-1 had come to this planet the second time to deal with the formalities. The inhabitants wanted to join Earth in their battle against the Goa'uld. They were technically on the same level and by the way their culture seemed really fascinating. They had those religious motives from. "Okay. Let's get out of here." Jack stood in front of the door, trying to peak out if there were any guards. "No objection from me, Colonel. But how? We can't break that door. It's too massive. We don't have our weapons and." "I know that, Carter. But do you suggest, we should stay here and wait until they let us go home voluntarily?" "Of course not, Sir. I was just trying to.." "I know that as well, Carter. I'm sorry. I just don't feel happy when I can't do anything." He tried a little smile. Sam nodded. She understood him perfectly. She felt the same. All of them did. She looked at Teal'c. "Any ideas?" Jack obviously had the same thought as her. The Jaffa shook his head. "There is no way out of here by force at the moment. We should wait and when they are back we can try to fight our way out." The Colonel nodded in agreement. He had thought of that as well, but he was not that happy with it. One never knows if it will work out O.K. He scrunched his face. He really hated days like this.

Fortunately -or not- they didn't have to wait long for anything to happen. Some minutes later Jack could hear the steps of the well armed guards approach. "Well, get ready." Teal'c took his position next to the door, Daniel took one step away and Sam positioned herself in the middle of the room, ready for anything. They could hear the key turn and slowly the door came open. Teal'c stretched his back and got himself ready for his attack but he was hit by something in his face. The guards obviously were prepared and therefore they first hit and asked later. Jack and Teal'c held their aching noses and Sam and Daniel signalled they wouldn't risk anything. The guards stepped into the room, followed by Leros. He was the chief negotiator and Jack had to hold himself back from not knocking him out. "Hey. It's nice seeing you again. Well, actually it isn't.What the hell are we doing in here?" Leros didn't show any reactions. He signalled one guard, who rushed forward and grabbed a very surprised Sam. "Hey. You let go of her.." Jack wanted to help his 2IC, who tried to get out of the guards grip, but another guard hit him again. "Ah.geez..." "O...Okay...Ehm what is going on here? Leros would you please explain. We don 't understand why we are here -and what do you want to do with Major Carter?" Daniel tried. "We want to test her. She is female and we don't trust females who have no husband. We learned from our experiences that a woman who is not married can cause wars if she wants to." "OK. Don't get me wrong, but that sucks!" Jack felt like he must be part of a bad joke. That man couldn't be serious. Unmarried women cause wars? "Yes, of course like Helen.in Troy. Or Eve with the apple." Jack shot Daniel with his eyes. "Ehm.Well, what I'm trying to say was, that we have experienced similar things on Earth. But.ehm." "What about those single guys? Didn't some of them start catastrophes as well?" Sam got a little angry, but sighing she continued: "But if you feel better, I'll go home and you'll never see me again." She was tired of being in situations like this. "Not possible. You might have started some trouble the first time you appeared on my planet." It was now that they realised that there were just a few women to be seen yesterday. Or they were in company of a man. "Well see, she belongs to me, so why don't you just let go of her?" Jack tried to emphasize his words by stepping closer to Sam who was still held by one guard. "Stay back!" Leros warned him and immediately one guard took one
step closer towards Jack. "Okay. Why don't you trust me?" Jack stood straight and threw a sharp look towards Leros. He could not let this ..bastard take Sam with him to do her harm. No way. He would not let this happen. "You are not her partner, I know that. You've told me before." Jack thought about that. He recollects yesterday, while they were having this party thing and Leros asked him about Sam. Jack then assured him that the two of them would only work together. That they were friends, nothing more. He told him so because Sam had been sitting next to him listening to their conversation. If she hadn't he probably would have told Leros that Sam was off the market, that there was no way for this guy to get a chance on Sam.his Sam. Now there was nothing Jack could do to persuade him. Jack was so lost in his thought that he didn't realise Daniel at first, who was taking his steps towards Sam and Leros. He could not believe what he heard Daniel say: "It is right. Jack and Sam are no couple.They.ehm.just work together.We.ehm.Sam and I.we are dating.secretly. Nobody knows it because it.would endanger our team.-spirit.But...It's true, right, Sam?" Daniel looked at Sam, he dared not watch Jack because he had always sensed that there was something between his two friends. "Darling?" Sam sighed. Well then, let's do it for Gods sake. "Yes, it's true. Sorry Colonel, Teal'c. I.we kept it secret. We thought it might be better for the team." Although Jack knew, that Daniel and Sam were just playing, he felt a stitch in his heart. Was he really jealous? Of Daniel? He and Sam were like brother and sister... "Well, prove it." It was Leros. What kind of proof did he want? Jack got little nervous and he could see that Sam was too. Only Daniel seemed not to be. Jack was wondering why. "Well.okay.may I?" Daniel made his way until he stood in front of Sam. He
looked her in her eyes and Sam nodded slightly. Daniel took a deep breath. Then he raised his hands and took Sam's head in them. He threw a little smile at her. Sam wondered why he was not nervous at all. She could feel her heart beat faster. Not that she really wanted it that much, actually it felt a little weird. She would have preferred the Colonel to kiss her instead,
but.Daniel is a handsome guy. She could not deny that. So she closed her eyes and seconds later felt his warm, soft lips tenderly touching hers. Wow. She laid her hands on his chest and could feel his tongue shyly asking for entrance into her mouth. Sam let it happen. She forgot that it was Daniel kissing her that way. She never thought of him kissing her that intimate but, hey, it was for her freedom, right? And to be honest, those lips of his invited a girl to kiss them.
Slowly Daniel withdrew and looked her in the eyes. He smiled at her, unsure of how she felt. Sam smiled back to assure him she was alright. Daniel took her into his arms. "Hey, we are a loving couple.don't forget that", he whispered into Sam's ear. "I won't", Sam whispered back, still smiling. She moved her head to get a look on the Colonel. As her eyes saw him, her heart stopped beating for a moment. Jack was staring at her and Daniel. Particularly at Daniel who was talking to Leros, but Sam couldn't listen to what he said. She kept her eyes on Jack. On that man who was standing in the middle of the room, upright, tense, not showing any emotion. Sam could see his fists, pressed to the bottom of the pockets they were buried in. She could feel his anger. "Damn, Daniel was just trying to get me out of here.to get *us* out of here. What is his problem? That he wasn't the hero this time? That he wasn't allowed to kiss me? That *Daniel* kissed me?" "I said I want proof. Take them to the lab." The voice of Leros brought Sam back to reality. "Lab? Which lab? We kissed each other, what more proof do you need?" she didn't feel comfortable. "No-one will go anywhere." It was the Colonel. "I want proof. A kiss is no proof. I will test your feelings. I will test them now." Leros gave the guards a sign. They took hold of Sam and Daniel and led them out of the room. "You better take me with you, because I won't let them go anywhere." Jack tried to follow his friends. "This is not your business. Your are not dating her." "I am not, that is right. So what do you have to lose? One person more to test. Take me with you", Jack insisted. "Well, then. Take him." The door was locked again. Teal'c went back to the bench to sit down. He was sure, his friends will find a way out of this situation.

In the lab, Sam was laid on a table. Her hands and feet were bound tight onto it, as well as her head. On her left on another table lay Daniel, *now* looking really nervous and on her right it was the Colonel. Sam felt helpless. Again. She could not move, she could not defend herself. She had to trust in her capturers that they won't harm her in any way. On the left of her head she could hear a light humming. Sam could not see what it was but seconds later she could feel a sharp pain in her left temple. "Argh!" Both, Daniel and Jack, obviously experienced the same ache. "We have inserted a metre into your brain to measure the intensity of your feelings." "I still don't get the point", Jack exclaimed breathing heavily. "Why for cryin' out loud is this whole feelings-thing so important to you?" "We have to be sure. I told you before. Now don't talk. Close your eyes!" Leros pushed some buttons. "*Jesus*.uh." It hit Sam with such a power she never could have imagined. She couldn't describe what exactly it was, she only knew it hurt like hell. She didn't hear Jack groan beside her. She didn't even feel Daniels presence at all. All she was aware of were these immense feelings that captured her body, her mind. Sam wanted to run, to hide from them. She was lost in a mess of emotions, not knowing whether they were hers or if they were.his. She couldn 't breathe. It hurt so much. She was nearer than ever to the man she.loved. Yes, she knew it. But it hurt. Everything standing between them came into her mind. But not only this. She also felt her desire and his.passion. Just as she thought she could not stand it any longer, the pain was gone. At first she felt nothing. Sam thought she couldn't even feel herself. Slowly she realized where she was. She could hear the Colonel gasp. Daniel coughed. "What.happened.?" Somebody loosened her bonds. She managed to sit up. Sam realized her legs were trembling. No, her *whole body* was trembling. Daniel looked irritated at her. "Sam? You OK?" He was worried about what might happen next. He knew, that his feelings for Sam where not strong enough to save her. As well, that he couldn't have had that effect on her. Daniel took a look at Jack. The Colonel was sitting on the table, holding his head in his hands, his body shaking. He slowly shook his head. "Well. Now I know why you lied to me yesterday, Colonel O'Neill. I won't keep you as prisoners any longer. You are free to leave." Jack heard Leros speech like behind a deep fog, that seemed to surround him. He only heard his own heartbeat, he only felt that very heart breaking at the remembrance of what he had just experienced. Jack dared not to look at Sam. He felt so guilty to have pulled her through that situation. But he also was very aware of what he just got to know. It was just he didn't want it to have happened that way. He slowly raised his head. Sam was sitting in front of him, but he could only see her back. Instead he saw Daniel looking concerned at Sam. "I'm okay Daniel, thanks. How are you?" Sam got her voice back. "Fine. Jack?" "All right." Now Sam turned around. As her eyes met his, Jack felt that the mass of feelings rush into him again. He could read in Sam's painful look, that she experienced the same. The next minutes seemed like hours. Slowly they gathered control over themselves again and dared to let the past event happen again. Just to find a way to deal with it. Daniel watched his two friends carefully. He had felt his feelings for Sam rush into the open and he was amazed how strong they were. But he also knew, that Sam was only a friend to him. No potential lover, though kissing her was very tasteful.Daniel focused back on Sam and Jack who did everything to avoid looking at each other. He could only imagine what they had experienced. "Ehm.I'll go and fetch Teal'c. Take your time." With this he turned and left his confused friends alone. Jack looked very hard at his feet. He could feel Sam stepping from one foot on the other. "Colonel." "Sam. I.I'm sorry. I didn't mean to." Now Jack looked up and met Sam's eyes. He knew that *she* knew. He once had been forced to reveal his true feelings for her in order to save her. But this time it was different. The first time he told her -and Anise and whoever else was in that damn room- how much he *cared* about her. That he was not allowed to care for her that much. Back then he only said those words. And it had been the most neutral words he could find. He didn't say how much he *loved* her. Now, she knew. Because now she had to experienced it. She has felt how he feels about her. What she means to him. And Jack has felt *her* feelings for him, too. He took a deep breath while remembering how it had hit him. He wasn't prepared for so much.love. He never thought, she would feel so much for him. "Sir. It's okay. You wanted to protect me. I.I just wasn't prepared." Sam sighed. Not only did she feel his need. She also felt his jealousy after Daniel had kissed her. Sam had to smile a little by the thought of it. But after remembering the feeling of how much Jack seemed to suffer, how it hurt him that he was not allowed to love her, kiss her, just be with her, that smile vanished as fast as it appeared. She looked into his dark, hurt eyes. There was so much she always wanted to say to him. So much that now needn't be said for Jack knew it. The only thing left for her, was to show. To let him feel.physically. "Sam.I know you.know. I also know about.your feelings. I.believe me, they hit me as unprepared as you." Jack took a deep breath. "You know that I love you, Sam. Now I don't know how." "I love you too, Jack." Jack gave in. He surrendered into her eyes, her voice. He surrendered into.her lips. He kissed her. Soft, asking. Sam answered him in taking his face in her hands. He moved closer, held her tighter. He wanted her more than ever this moment and he knew, Sam felt he same. Their tongues explored each other, desperately touched each other. Jack drove her crazy. After an eternity of lust and need, they parted. Well knowing, they would never share a moment like this again. None of them had to say it. The just knew. Like they knew before that they wanted each other so badly. They still did, but somehow they could control themselves. Sam saw the pain still screaming out of Jack's eyes and she desperately wanted to take it away from him, to heal him. But she didn't.
"Ehm." A little voice managed to get through to them. It was Daniel, followed by Teal'c. They both found Sam and Jack staring at each other, exchanging looks full of hunger and pain. Daniel thought he could *see* their feelings make their way between the two of them. He felt so sorry for his two friends. He knew how hard it was to lose somebody one desperately loves. But to be so close and not being allowed to touch one another, that must be even worse. Jack took all his strength and turned to face Daniel. "Yes. Let's go home." Jack wanted to sound strong, convinced. His voice was betraying him, but fortunately nobody seemed to recognize. "Major.." How wrong that sounded. "Yes, Sir. Coming." Jack quickly left the room, followed by Teal'c. Daniel took his steps at Sam's side. "Ehm.I'm sorry if kissing you made you feel.uh.bad." "No, Danny. It was .wonderful." Sam tried to smile at him. "So .you and Jack are." "No. Yes.we.love each other. But we won't be together. We ..can't." Daniel saw Sam suppressing tears. "I understand. I'm sorry." Sam simply nodded. She was grateful, having a friend like Daniel. She was sure, she'll survive. Her heart was broken, but she had not lost hope.
