Story Notes: In my AP English class we're slowly studying different forms of poetry and then writing our own. For some reason, all of my poems seem to have a Sam/Jack vibe in them! (not that my teacher would figure that out). So I figure I'd post them. This form is called a
sestina.

FEEDBACK: I have at least one more poem and would like to know if you'd like to read it.

Wistful Sestina

The dying embers of the fire glow,
It's gentle radiance not reaching far.
Reflected light from the moons above
Is inspiration to the wandering mind,
Searching out her features in the darkness,
Relaxed within dreams' sweet embrace.

Held in the cold wind's embrace,
He looks to the moons' unearthly glow.
Then closing his eyes into darkness,
Wishing his home were not so far,
He sighed deep within his mind.
And reopened his eyes to the sky above.

A falling star shoots above,
Returning to the East's embrace.
It leaves a fiery trail in his mind,
Heightened by the rising sun's glow,
Rising above the horizon far,
Casting out the night's lingering darkness.

His eyes are drawn from the receding darkness,
No longer focusing on that above,
Or regarding that which is far.
No, his eyes form his own embrace,
Glinting with a healthy, happy glow,
As he dreams of her within his mind.

She is always beautiful to his mind.
Ridding him of inner darkness,
Her love producing its own glow,
Sending his heart to the heavens above.
Having her in his sweet embrace,
Knowing she will never be far.

His waking dreams are never far,
Mixing with reality and his wistful mind,
Imagining her in his strong embrace,
Banishing the nightmare's darkness,
As the morning sun rises above,
His smile matching the fiery ball's glow.

With the fading glow of the stars on horizon far,
And a Being above, watching with an all-knowing mind,
Darkness overcame the wishful soul falling to sleep's embrace
