As the three man, one-woman team stepped through the stone ring, they looked at their surroundings. P4Z 952 was loaded with trees. "Ah," one of the men said. "Trees, trees, trees. Can't we 'gate to a planet with no trees for once? And Abydos doesn't count." "Come on, Jack," one of the other men said. "We love trees. Trees are our friends." Colonel Jack O'Neill looked at the bi-spectacled man to his right. The man's glasses were glazed over with a thin layer of frost, his short, sandy blonde hair was slightly mussed and he was sneezing like crazy. Jack turned his attention back to the forests, which reminded him of the forests on Kheb and Edora. "Let me guess, Daniel," Jack said to his young friend. "Flowers? Allergies? Stuff like that?" "Gee, how did you guess, Jack?" Doctor Daniel Jackson joked back and looked at his slightly older friend. Jack grinned at him and Daniel smiled back. The only hints that the team could see as to how Jack O'Neill was older, was his usually dark brown hair, which was now going grey. "Just lucky, I guess." Jack finally replied. "Daniel and Teal'c, you go that way. Carter, gather your samples. I'll go over that way and look around." "Do you think that is wise, O'Neill?" The tall, black Jaffa asked stoically. Teal'c had a gold emblem on his forehead, which was the symbol of his old life with Apophis and his head was bald. "Probably not," Jack remarked. "But those are my orders." "Yes, Sir." Major Samantha Carter finally spoke up from behind O'Neill. He turned and looked at her. "Don't worry," Jack said to his team. "I'll stay in radio contact." "Don't be gone long, Sir." Carter said, voicing her concern. "Yeah sure, ya betcha." Jack said as he turned and walked in the direction he had pointed out. Sam grinned at the saying Jack had just used, remembering a certain fishing trip that she had turned down countless times. Daniel and Teal'c told Sam that they were going off to do their task, while Sam stayed behind at the Stargate and gathered her soil samples from around and near the DHD and Stargate.
Meanwhile, Jack O'Neill, who was about a mile away from the Stargate, was looking at something a short distance from his location. As he was walking toward the object, he didn't see the up-ended tree root that was in front of him. The right toe of his military issued boot caught underneath the root and he started to fall. Before he completely fell, he twisted so that he'd land on his back, but didn't see the rock that finally connected with the side of his head, rendering him unconscious.
Fifteen minutes later, Daniel and Teal'c returned to the Stargate and noticed Sam still collecting her samples. Alone. "Where's Jack?" Daniel asked when he noticed that his friend had not yet returned. Sam just looked up at him and shook her head. "Give me a sec and I'll go find him." Sam said, kneeling to closing her sample kit box on her right side. "Why not just radio O'Neill?" Teal'c offered. "Okay," Sam said, standing to her feet after closing the box at her side. "Colonel O'Neill, this is Carter. Over." All Sam could hear as a response was static from her radio. She turned to Daniel and Teal'c, worry evident on her face. "Okay," Sam said, taking charge. "Daniel, Teal'c, you stay here in case the colonel comes back. I'll go find him." "This is unwise, Major Carter," Teal'c replied. "What if you come under attack?" "I'll be okay, Teal'c," Sam answered back. "Besides, the M.A.L.P didn't show any signs of life. Human, Goa'uld or otherwise." "I understand." Teal'c replied, finally giving in, but still reluctant to let her go off by herself.
As Sam looked for her C.O., Jack just laid where he had fallen. Still unconscious. "COLONEL!" Sam yelled as she looked to the left and right for the colonel. She got no reply. "JACK!" Sam yelled in sincere fright. "JACK, WHERE ARE YOU!?" Seventeen minutes later, Sam saw a familiar gloved hand and ran toward the still form. She radioed back to Daniel and Teal'c that she had found the colonel and would return in a few minutes. That was before she saw the small, bleeding wound on the left side of his head. Sam got the first-aid kit out of her pack and began to clean the wound and cover it with a small bandage. After she was done, she cleaned up the signs of her small medical emergency and put it in a biohazard bag. She then returned the first-aid kit, and the now sealed biohazard bag, back to her pack and then turned her attention to the unconscious colonel in front of her. "Colonel," Sam said, lightly shaking the man she cared about. "Colonel, please wake up. You have to wake up." Suddenly, Jack's eyes slowly flickered open. He laid there while his eyesight adjusted to crystal clarity. He noticed the most beautiful blonde haired, blue-eyed woman leaning over him, obviously scared. \\ Whoa! What happened? // He asked himself as he looked at the woman. "What happened? Where am I?" Jack asked her. "I found you unconscious, Sir. Do you remember being attacked or anything?" Sam asked, watching him closely. "I can't remember." Jack replied, looking at Sam confused. "Okay," Sam said, standing and offering her hand to Jack. "Let's get back to the 'gate." On the walk back, Sam glanced at her commanding officer as they walked and was obviously worried about him. Once they got back to the Stargate, Jack hung back and stared at the Stargate with wide eyes and jaw on the ground. Daniel, Sam and Teal'c all noticed this and sent curious looks in his direction, being that Jack had never looked at the Stargate in this way. Ever. "I'll dial," Sam announced, turning her attention to the DHD. "Daniel, you send the IDC." As Sam entered the last glyph, the Stargate powered down and the lighted glyphs went dark. Sam just looked at the DHD and tried to re-dial, getting the same result as the last time. Sam went to the base of the DHD and opened the panel that allowed access to the innards of the DHD, and then began looking for the reason why it had not worked in the first place. After ten minutes and several scrapes later, a sweat and dirt covered Sam Carter emerged and faced her teammates with the bad news. "I can't find out why it won't work," Sam said, hanging her head. "I can't make it work." "Let me try," Jack piped up from behind Daniel and Teal'c. He walked forward and got to his knees, looking into the DHD. "Where's my Swiss Army Knife when I need it?" He emerged a few minutes later and looked at the three people in front of him, who were, for lack of a better term, looking at him like he had grown a third arm. "Does anyone have a gum wrapper, paper clip and duct tape," Jack asked, receiving odd looks from Sam, Daniel and Teal'c. "So I can fix this." Sam dug into her pockets and pack, coming up with a roll of Duct Tape, Daniel found an old aluminum Juicy Fruit gum wrapper, while Teal'c found nothing. Jack had dug in his pockets and found the paper clip he needed. Sam stood to the side and watched as Jack began to tie one of the wires to the paper clip, wrapped it with the aluminum gum wrapper and then a small piece of the Duct Tape. He then stood to allow Sam to close the access panel. Sam glanced at Daniel and Teal'c and then back to Jack with a look of puzzlement on her face. Jack grinned and shrugged his broad shoulders at her. "What did you do, Colonel?" Sam asked. "I fixed it, didn't I?" Jack asked, his chocolate brown eyes shifting to the DHD. Sam walked over to the DHD and began to dial the co-ordinates for Earth. When she reached the point of origin, she hesitated and glanced back at her teammates. She returned her attention back to the DHD and pushed the last glyph. When the event horizon oozed forward and then snapped back, creating the flat, shimmering surface, Sam spun to face Jack. "Daniel," Sam said slowly. "Send the IDC." "Yeah, okay." Daniel replied equally slowly, dialed the IDC code and then walked through the event horizon to Earth, Teal'c following close behind him. "Come on, Colonel," Sam said, taking his right elbow in her left hand. "Let's go home." They walked through the event horizon and headed home to debrief, the event horizon dissipated behind them after they walked through.
An hour after SG-1 returned to Earth and had a chance to shower, they all made their way to the Briefing Room and sat at the four foot long oak table. As Sam as in the chair across from Daniel and Teal'c, she watched Jack as he stared out the window to the Gate Room below. He was just standing there. Sam got to her feet and walked over to him. As she got closer, she put her right hand on his left shoulder, causing him to jump out of his daze. "Colonel?" Sam asked, putting her concerns into just his rank. "I'm fine." He answered back, looking at her finally. "All right, people," the general said from behind them. "Let's get this started." Sam took her seat again and waited as Jack took the seat next to hers. Jack glanced at her, then turned his attention to the notepad in front of him. "So what is on P4Z 952, Major?" General George Hammond asked. The stout general looked at his second-in-command as Carter went into her verbal report about the minerals that she had found in the soil. Daniel was the next to begin his verbal findings. By the time Daniel was done, Jack hadn't said a word in either case or report. Neither did he say any sarcastic remarks to Daniel or Sam about what they had said in the lectures. Sam, Daniel and Teal'c all exchanged worried glances when General Hammond asked Jack if he had anything further to add and Jack had said no to them. "Colonel," the general said after a few minutes. "I'd rather you not leave the base just yet. I would like to have Doctor Fraiser keep an eye on you." "Yes, Sir." Jack said simply. Hammond and Sam exchanged wondering glances. "Major Carter," Hammond said, turning his attention to the brilliant major. "I want you to go wherever he goes. Understand?" "Understood, General." Sam replied smartly to the general. "Until your next mission, SG-1," Hammond said, looking at the team. "You'll be on stand down. Dismissed." Sam and Jack got to their feet as Hammond left the room. Daniel and Teal'c left the Briefing Room to go do their own thing. "Colonel," Sam said. "Why don't you come with me to my lab. I'm sure you can find something in there to play with."
Once in Sam's lab, she instantly set to work on the Bedrosian Rifle that sat in front of her Naquadah reactor. On her right, Jack sat and watched her with his chin in his right hand. He was watching her with the utmost interest. This had Sam concerned. Jack couldn't even sit and watch her longer than five minutes without playing with something. "What's that you're working on?" Jack asked, voicing his interest. "Uh," Sam stumbled. "the rifles we got from Bedrosia. Nyan? Remember?" "You want some help," Jack offered. "I mean, I don't...." "Wait, wait, wait," Sam interrupted. "You understand this stuff?" "Yeah," Jack said. "I guess." Sam looked at Jack with shock. She had never known Jack to want to help, let alone understand the science of what he wanted to help with. "Colonel O'Neill," Sam asked once she got her voice back. "Are you okay?" "Why do you keep calling me O'Neill," Jack asked her, looking confused again. "My name's MacGyver." "Oh, boy." Sam said, her eyes wide and her face suddenly pale. The next thing 'MacGyver' knew, Sam fell to the floor, narrowly missing the table with her head. 'MacGyver' knelt at her side and felt her pulse, which was beating strong. He looked around her lab and found what he was looking for. He grabbed the bottle of Ammonia from the shelf and got a small vial and poured a small amount into the vial. He then returned to Sam's side and waved it under her nose. Sam came to rather quickly. "You alright?" 'MacGyver' asked. Sam looked at him and nodded her head slowly. "Let's go to the infirmary, uh, MacGyver." Sam said, slowly getting to her feet. Together, Sam and 'MacGyver' went to the infirmary to go see Doctor Janet Fraiser for help.
Janet was sitting at her desk, filling out the last of SG-1's post-mission physical reports, when the object of the last report walked into the infirmary, followed by Major Carter. Sam looked bothered. Janet stood up and walked out into the larger room. Jack was already sitting on a med bed, while Sam sat on a stool to his right. Janet looked at Sam and noticed the red scratch on her forehead from her near miss with the lab table moments before. "Sam," Janet said, voicing the apparent worry and walked toward Sam and started to examine her forehead. "Are you alright?" "Yeah," Sam replied, waving her hand to get Janet to back off. "Actually, I'm more worried about the colonel." "The colonel," Janet asked, her tone full of confusion. "What's wrong with him?" "Well," Sam said, grimacing. "That's what's funny about it." "Get to it, Sam." Janet said, her short temper taking full affect. "He thinks he's MacGyver." Sam spilled out suddenly. Janet just looked from Sam to Jack and then back, with wide eyes. Sam spent five minutes explaining to Janet what 'MacGyver' had told her. The next fifteen to twenty minutes found a frazzled Janet Fraiser with no answers as to why Jack thought what he did. She did, however, find the now less swollen, bump on Jack's left temple. Janet suggested that the bump and fall caused him to have amnesia. After Janet was done with her exam, she called General Hammond down. Daniel and Teal'c had gotten wind of what had happened and had followed the general to the infirmary. "General," the petite doctor began. "It seems Colonel O'Neill has received a minor concussion, and as a result, he has amnesia. But I think if Major Carter takes the colonel to his home and has things around him that are familiar, that might help him get his memory back." "Understood, Doctor," Hammond said, then turned to Sam. "Major, do what you can for O'Neill. We may have to call in Doctor MacKenzie if his memory doesn't come back soon." "Yes, Sir." Sam said, then escorted 'MacGyver' to the locker room and waited from him to change and he did the same for Sam. Then they headed to the elevators to go up to the surface. Just as they were about to get into the elevator, Janet stopped them. "Colonel," Janet said. "I don't want you to push yourself to remember big things. Just try and remember small events. You're less likely to burn out as easily." "Okay." was the only thing 'MacGyver' said. He then turned and entered the elevator and waited for Sam. Sam entered the elevator a moment later and waited for the elevator to reach the surface. As the elevator lurched upward, 'MacGyver' couldn't help but stare at her as she tried to divert her eyes anywhere, but she only met the chocolate brown eyes of Jack. Not 'MacGyver'. She could see the twinkle in Jack's eyes that he always got when they were in an elevator together.
Once they got to Jack's house, Sam was the first one through the newly unlocked front door. After she got into the living room, she turned on a couple of lights and headed to the closet in the hallway. "Whose medals?" 'MacGyver' asked from the living room. "Yours, Colonel." Sam's muffled answer came from the closet. "Wow," 'MacGyver' said to himself. "I must be one crazy or brave guy to have all these medals." "Nah," Sam said from behind him, causing him to turn around. "You're just good at what you do." When 'MacGyver' had turned around, he saw that Sam had her hands and arms full of books and boxes. He took a couple of strides towards her and took some of the stuff from her and sat it down on the coffee table to his left. Sam took a seat on the couch and 'MacGyver' sat on her right side. She opened the cover of a white photo album and there were pictures of a younger looking O'Neill, clad in his Air Force dress blues. The rank on his shoulders was captain. And next to him stood a young woman, looking up at Jack and smiling. "This is your wife, Sara," Sam explained. "But you're separated now." "Why?" 'MacGyver' asked. "I'll get to that." Sam stalled, flipping through the rest of the wedding pictures. 'MacGyver' only looked at them with clouded eyes. Several minutes later, Sam moved on to another book. "This is your son, Charlie," Sam said, watching 'MacGyver' finger the little image of his deceased son. "He died about eight years ago." "How?" 'MacGyver' asked, sounding like he didn't want to know. "He accidentally shot himself with your service weapon," Sam told him, putting her right hand on his left knee. "I'm sorry." "That's why Sara left, isn't it?" He asked. "Yeah," Sam replied simply. "So Daniel tells me anyway." Sam closed the album and opened a shoebox and pulled out some loose photos, handing each one to 'MacGyver' and telling him who was in the picture, if she even knew they were. "This is your best friend, Charlie Kawalsky," Sam said. "But, and you're not going to like this, but he died, too. But he died a soldier of the US Air Force." "Brave man," 'MacGyver' said, suddenly standing and heading to the back porch. "I need to take a break." "Okay." Sam said, cleaning up the photos and albums. Sam got up and returned the pictures and stuff back to the closet. When she returned to the living room, she sat next to the armrest and put her face on her arms and started crying to the empty room. She sat there in silence crying to no one but her lost hopes of helping Jack regain his suddenly lost past.
Meanwhile, outside, 'MacGyver' had his back to the house. Off to his right, in the high bushes, he didn't see the figure watching his every move with night thermal goggles. The man in the bushes watched 'MacGyver' like he had done it before. What little light there was shining on him, made part of his face visible. There were small scars from and old injury or possibly burns that were evident. The blue eyes that were revealed when he took the goggles off, held anger and hatred. His slightly curly blonde hair was kept under a black knit hat. The man crouched down to look at the black case at his feet and looked back up at 'MacGyver', grinning evilly. "Murdoc always finds you, MacGyver." The man sneered in a thick British accent, returning his attention to the case. He opened the case and removed the rifle from the case and put it against his right shoulder, acquiring his target. Once he got 'MacGyver' perfectly lined up, he put the gun down once more and twisted a black silencer onto the muzzle and then reacquired his target. "One day, MacGyver," Murdoc said, lowering the rifle and removing the silencer, and then put the rifle back in the case. "But not today." Murdoc closed the clasps on the case and left the parameter of Jack's house towards his parked van a block away.
Meanwhile, 'MacGyver' had been unaware of his hidden visitor and was now looking up at the night sky. He got the feeling that he knew what was beyond those stars, what other cultures and human life could be out there. He looked down at his hands and turned around to head back inside. At first, when 'MacGyver' entered the house, he didn't hear the soft sobs coming from the couch. When he turned around, he saw Sam sitting with her arms on the armrest crying. "Sam," 'MacGyver' whispered. "What's wrong?" Sniffing, Sam sat up and looked at him with tears still running down her cheeks. 'MacGyver' walked over to her and sat next to her. He put his hands on her shoulders, making her turn to face him. "I've let you down, Sir." Sam said, fresh tears falling again. "Don't call me 'Sir', Sam," 'MacGyver' said, placing his hands on her face. His thumbs wiped away her tears and rubbed gently against her soft skin. "Call me Mac. And you didn't let me down. I'm sure I'll get my memory back if I am this Colonel O'Neill guy you say I am." "You are Jack O'Neill," Sam said. "And you don't call me Sam much. You always call me Carter." "Well, I like Sam better." 'MacGyver' said, leaning closer to her, causing her to jump back quickly. "Jack," Sam whispered. "I just wanted to help you." Suddenly Sam burst into tears again. The feeling of helplessness overwhelming her once again. 'MacGyver' forced her face up to look at him and finally closed the gap, bringing his lips to hers. Sam didn't fight back and fell into his embrace, causing him to fall onto his back on the couch. 'MacGyver' laced his fingers in her short blonde hair, then placed one hand on her lower back, while the other remained in her hair. Sam found herself lacing her fingers in 'MacGyver's' greying hair and loving every moment that went by. Sam then ran her hands down his face to his neck and shoulders, while 'Mac's' hands did their own exploring. 'Mac' broke the kiss and opened his eyes to look into her blue eyes. She stared back, her breath in short gasps. 'Mac' was doing the same thing. He ran his fingers over her face and let his fingers trace her lips. Sam sat back and 'Mac' sat up as well. They continued to stare at each other. 'Mac' stood and faced Sam, then leaned down and picked her up into his arms and walked towards the bedroom that Sam had shown him earlier. He entered the room and laid Sam onto the bed and removed her shoes, socks and jeans. He began to kiss his way up her stomach and stopped when he reached her sternum. Sam put her fingers in his hair again as he pushed her orange T-shirt up to her shoulders and eventually pulled it off completely. He threw the shirt on the floor, leaving Sam in only her bra and underwear. Sam looked into his eyes as he lay over her body. Jack rolled them so that Sam was over him. Sam removed his shirt and threw it to the side, then turned her attention to his khakis. She didn't know how or when he did it, but his shoes were gone. When she was done, 'Mac' was left only in his boxers. She returned to him and he suddenly flipped them so that Sam was under him once again. 'Mac' started to kiss her with a heated passion she never knew he had. Sam didn't fight the feelings that were suddenly bombarding her mind and body. 'Mac' trailed kisses down her neck, causing her to softly moan her pleasure. 'Mac's' kisses down to her chest felt like fire. But a good fire. 'Mac' removed her bra and underwear next, causing Sam to close her eyes when she felt them being removed. 'Mac' finally got to the point where he had been aiming for and took her right nipple into his mouth, his tongue teasing the rising mound. His right hand cupped the other one, while Sam's chest rose and fell with each rapid breath she drew. 'Mac' finally turned his attention to the other breast and gave it equal attention. Sam moaned a little louder as 'Mac's' other hand made its way to her curls and his thumb and index finger began to lightly squeeze her clitoris to make her break. Sam's hands suddenly shot out and grabbed the blankets and sheet at her sides as 'Mac's' tongue now began to stroke her clitoris. "Mac." Sam breathed, but he didn't stop his ministrations. 'Mac' returned to lay over her and captured her lips once more. Sam could taste the salt from his mouth. Sam slid her hands down his hips, helping him remove his boxers. Once 'Mac' was free of the restrictive garment, he once again started to make his way down to Sam's mid point of pleasure, but he didn't get far. Sam had flipped them over so that Sam could return the favor. Sam kissed her way down his neck, causing him to sigh softly. But once Sam got to 'Mac's' chest, she too, took one nipple at time into her mouth and traced circles with her tongue, making 'Mac' moan. After Sam was done with that task, she made her way down to his manhood and lightly ran her fingers over the engorged organ. Sam then took a light hold with her right hand and began tracing the crown of his penis with her tongue, making 'Mac' gasp with the sudden sensation. 'Mac' suddenly grabbed Sam by the upper arms and pulled her to him, rolling at the same time. 'Mac' gently began to rock against Sam, causing her to throw her head back and she matched his rocking with her own hips. 'Mac' slowly entered her wet center and then began to rock faster. Sam grabbed 'Mac's' shoulders and wrapped her legs around his waist. 'Mac' began to thrust faster, causing Sam to pant heavily. 'Mac' propped his upper body on his elbows, his hands in Sam's hair and he was close to his breaking point. And he knew she was near hers. "JACK! OH, GOD, JACK!" Sam screamed, releasing the pent up passion she held for the man she had fallen in love with. "SAM!" 'Mac' echoed a second later. "OH, MY GOD, SAM!" 'Mac' collapsed against Sam, sweaty and spent. Sam and 'Mac' were both panting and just holding each other. "No regrets, Sam?" 'Mac' asked her. "No regrets." Sam replied. 'Mac' rolled off of her and then pulled her to his left side. Feeling as if he could stay this way forever, he fell asleep with Sam already asleep at his side where he thought she should be and stay.
The next morning, after eating breakfast, 'MacGyver' was looking out a window towards the mountains and got a great idea. "Sam," he said to her. "Let's go for a hike up in those mountains." "Sure," Sam agreed. "Should I pack a lunch?" "Sure. Why not?" 'Mac' answered.
About four hours later, Sam and 'Mac' pulled up into the driveway. Sam removed the picnic basket from the backseat of the Jeep Wrangler and began to walk toward the house, when she felt a tug on her hand, stopping her movements. Sam turned her gaze to 'Mac's' front door. There were burnt letters on the door that read: 'You're going to die, MacGyver.' "Oh, my God," Sam said, barely above a whisper. "What do we do?" 'Mac' unlocked the door and walked inside, Sam behind him. Sam went to the phone and called Janet and told her what happened to 'Mac's' door. "Janet, what are we going to do?" Sam said, starting to panic. "First off, Sam," Janet said to her best friend. "Calm down. Next off, I'll call some friends and see what I can find out about this "MacGyver" fellow." Sam hung up with Janet and told 'Mac' the best plan was to return to the SGC as soon as possible. As they drove off, they didn't see the white and green pick-up truck following them from a far, yet not too far, distance.
As Sam and 'Mac' were driving through the mountains toward the SGC, they noticed several road signs telling them to detour. When 'Mac' turned off onto a dirt road, they suddenly became lost. Suddenly there was a loud bang and the Jeep couldn't stay in a straight line. 'Mac' brought the vehicle to a complete stop and got out to take a look, but it was not a good sign. As 'Mac' and Sam were working together to get the tires switched, the dust on the road about two miles from them kicked up and was headed their way. When the beat up truck saw them, it came to a stop and a middle-aged man got out and walked toward them. "Got trouble thar folks?" The man asked in a Texan accent. "Yeah," Sam piped up, wiping her hands on her blue jeans. "A little. I think we have it, though. Thanks." "Well," he replied back. "I hate ta tell ya, but yer rear tire on that there other side looks like a goner as well." "Aw, man!" 'Mac' cried out when he heard the news. "I figure I could give ya a ride to where it is yer goin'." The Texan offered politely. 'Mac' finally got to his feet and turned around to thank the stranger, but stopped when he made eye contact with him. "Murdoc." 'Mac' whispered. He looked at Sam and then suddenly grabbed her hand and started running. 'Mac' and Sam had started running, so they didn't see the 9mm that Murdoc had pulled out from under his jacket. The next thing Sam knew, was she had a searing pain in her right shoulder and she was stumbling forward. Luckily 'Mac' was able to grab a hold of her and steady her. 'Mac' took the chance of looking over his shoulder and saw that Murdoc was a good distance away. 'Mac' then pulled Sam with him to lose Murdoc. Together, Sam and 'Mac' hid behind a huge boulder as Murdoc ran past them, oblivious to their hiding spot. \\ Great! What's next, MacGyver? // Sam thought to herself, but was able to keep up with 'MacGyver' with her shoulder wound. As they stopped, 'MacGyver' grabbed the little bit of rope that he had put in his pocket and put together a type of trap that you would see in Bugs Bunny cartoons. He then covered it with leaves and dirt, grabbed Sam's hand again and started running again, Sam keeping up the whole time. Coming from the opposite direction, Murdoc found 'MacGyver's' little booby trap and walked around it, continuing on with his search of the prey. As he walked a short distance, he found several drops of blood on the forest floor and decided to follow where it led him.
Meanwhile, Sam and 'Mac' found themselves staring down a steep ledge with no way to go, but down or back the way they had just come. Turning around, Sam and 'Mac' came face to face with their hunter and stared at him as he walked toward them, pinning them against the back wall. Sam suddenly charged at Murdoc, even though she was injured, but her attempts failed when Murdoc backhanded her and knocked her unconscious. Sam's limp form fell to the ground. "Nikki." 'Mac' whispered.
~ "MACGYVER!" Nikki Carpenter screamed as she fell from the rock ledge to certain death below, only to hang onto the edge of the rock shelf. ~
When 'MacGyver' came back to the present and saw Sam's unconscious form, his anger turned to Murdoc. 'MacGyver' faced the man before him and gave him a hard shove, causing Murdoc to stumble backwards and finally fall over the steep edge to the rocks below. "MACGYVER!" Murdoc shouted as he fell to his death. 'MacGyver' let the man fall and ran to Sam's side, tended to her wound and covered it with the stuff from the first-aid kit. He then woke her and they headed to the SGC. 'Mac' had to get her medical help. Once they got through the front gates of Cheyenne Mountain, Lieutenant Graham Simmons met ‘MacGyver’ and Sam at the elevators on the NORAD level. He explained to them that there were some men from L.A. who wanted to see them immediately in the Briefing Room. When they got to level twenty-eight, Sam and 'MacGyver' were taken up to the Briefing Room. In the Briefing Room, General Hammond, Daniel, Teal'c, Janet and two unfamiliar men sat and waited. One of them looked a little like the general, while the other looked like Jack, only years younger. The blast door was covering the window that showed the Stargate below. "Major Samantha Carter," the general began. "This is Mr. Peter Thornton and Mr. MacGyver. The real MacGyver. They're from the Phoenix Foundation out of Los Angeles." "A pleasure," Sam replied. "As the general said, I'm Major Sam Carter. And this was....IS....Colonel Jack O'Neill." "Was?" The real MacGyver asked. "He's lost his memory," Sam replied, answering his question. "And thinks he's you, Mr. MacGyver." "Oy," MacGyver said, closing his eyes at the same time and the opened them to look at Sam. "Look just call Mac or MacGyver. You don't have to call me 'Mr.' MacGyver." "If you know of a way to help the colonel, MacGyver," Janet spoke up from Teal'c's right side. "I could offer you the use of the infirmary." "Thanks," MacGyver said. "I have an idea and I'm going to have to do it with just Jack and myself. The infirmary would be fine, Doctor Fraiser."
Once 'Mac' and MacGyver were left alone in the infirmary, MacGyver closed the blinds to the windows and shut down some lights. MacGyver sat in the chair across from Jack and noticed that he had control of the colonel now. "Jack," Mac said softly. "I want you to think back to the first time you set foot on P4Z 952." "I can't." Jack said, his eyes scrunching together tightly. "Okay," Mac assured. "Think back to your first clear memory. Tell me what you see." "Trees, a pond and a man," Jack replied. "We're fishing. It's a cabin that belonged to my grandfather." "Where," Mac asked. "Where is this cabin, Jack?" "Minnesota," Jack replied. "My twin cousin and I would spend a week during the summers at this cabin in Northern Minnesota. I've tried to get Carter to go there, but she won't go." "Jack," Mac said, shock in his voice. "When I snap my fingers, you'll open your eyes." MacGyver snapped his fingers and Jack's eyelids flew up. Jack looked at MacGyver and suddenly became confused and then looked around the room. "Uh," Jack said. "What's goin' on?" "My name's MacGyver, Colonel O'Neill," Mac told him. "I was sent to help you get your memory back." "What," Jack replied. "It went somewhere?" MacGyver started laughing and soon had Jack wondering if he was in an alternate reality. "Sorry," Mac apologized. "My cousin used to say sarcastic stuff like that. He got it from Harry." "Harry Jackson?" Jack asked, eyes growing wide. "Yeah," Mac said. "Why?" "I had a grandpa Harry." Jack told the man who looked back at him. To Jack, it was like looking into a mirror at a younger version of himself. "Your first name isn't Jonathan, is it?" Mac asked, picturing his cousin from many years ago. "Oh, for cryin' out loud. Yeah," Jack answered warily. "But I don't go by it anymore." "Do you know an Ellen and James MacGyver, by chance?" Mac asked, not missing a beat. "Yeah, they were my Aunt and Uncle," Jack said. "Uncle James was...." Jack suddenly stopped and just stared open mouthed at MacGyver. "What?" Mac asked, noting his expression. "ANGUS!?" Jack yelled excitedly, watching MacGyver cringe at the use of his first name. "DON'T CALL ME THAT!" Mac yelled back, reaching his hands out to strangle Jack jokingly. "You always hated that name." Jack teased his cousin. "Still do," Mac told him with a smile. "Still can't believe Harry never told me about ya. Probably forgot. But I remember you now." "Cool," Jack said, heading out of the room, but the stopped suddenly. "Whoa! Where's Carter?" "Out there," Mac said, pointing over his shoulder. "Why?" "I did something with her that I shouldn't have." Jack admitted. "Don't tell me! I don't wanna know." Mac said, waving his hands. MacGyver and Jack headed out and saw five worried faces on the other side of the door. Sam was the first to stand and recognize the men's approach. "Colonel?" Sam asked cautiously. "It's me, Sam." Jack said, smiling at Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, Hammond and Fraiser all in turn. "What happened," Sam asked. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine, Sam," Jack replied. "I remember, Carter. Everything." Sam's eyes grew wide and all she could do was stare at him in utter shock and wonderment. "Here's what happened...." Jack said, beginning to explain.
* 'As I was walking to what looked like a statue or something, I felt my right foot get caught on something. As I fell, I noticed that it was a tree root. I tripped on a tree root and hit my head on a rock.' *
"And that's what happened. Honest." Jack concluded. He looked up and saw Sam and Daniel trying not to laugh, while Teal'c cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow. He just shrugged his shoulders and started laughing, causing Daniel, Sam, Janet, MacGyver, Pete and General Hammond to all burst out laughing. Teal'c just stood there staring at them with one stoic eyebrow raised.
Later that night, after seeing MacGyver and Pete off at the airport, SG-1 returned to Jack's place to play poker. When they finally arrived at Jack's house, they all observed that Jack's front door had been replaced with the same exact kind of door, only without the burnt on message from Murdoc. Jack silently thanked his newfound twin cousin. Two hours and fifteen hands later, Daniel and Teal'c decided to head back to the SGC, leaving Jack and Sam to clean up the mess they had created. After the clean up was done, Sam and Jack spent a couple of hours discussing what they were planning to do about their situation and whatnot. They both agreed to keep it quiet and they were fine with it that way. "I do have to admit though, Jack," Sam said. "I was really and truly worried about you." "You were?" Jack asked, feigning his apparent surprise. "Yeah." Sam answered. "Well, thank you." Jack replied, grinning at her. Sam smiled back. Jack reached his left hand out and brushed his fingers against her cheek, making her close her eyes at the touch. He then laced his fingers in her hair and brought her face to his, his lips making the contact he had desired. Sam's actions reflected how she felt. Sam wrapped her arms around Jack's neck and she fell backwards on the couch, taking a very willing Jack O'Neill with her. Jack helped undress Sam as she did the same to him. Once the clothes were removed and bodies teased for a few minutes, Jack began the slow, rhythmic thrusts into Sam's body. Sam dug her nails into the flesh of his back as they came together and climaxed at the same moment. Sam felt as though she was free. Jack was feeling the same exact way as Sam. Jack rolled off of Sam and was positioned between her and the back of the couch. He reached behind himself and pulled the blanket down off of the back of the couch and covered themselves with it. "I love you, Jack," Sam finally said. "And I don't have any regrets." "Neither do I, Sam," Jack said, drawing her body closer to his. "I love you, too, Sam. I always have." Then together, they fell into dreamless unconsciousness. They only dreams they could have had were of each other and their possible futures together. A future that was to come soon.
