"I AM THE HOLY WOMAN."
Sam gazed into his deep, warm eyes. Glistening a shade of blue. Colonel Jack O'Neill, her commanding officer. She looked over his short brown hair, ice blue eyes; she smiled remembering his good, funny way at looking at life. She is Major Samantha Carter. Her short blonde hair would sometimes come over her big, bright, sky blue eyes. Along with Dr. Daniel Jackson and Teal'C, they complete the SG-1 team.
Daniel had longish brown hair, blue eyes and rambled a lot, Teal'C was once a slave to Apophis, on his bald, dark head, he had a gold emblem. They had just finished exploring plant P3R 656 and were heading home. Jack turned around to see one of the sights he loved most. Samantha, his Samantha. She looked around to see if they were coming. When Sam saw Jack she gave him a warm smile, he returned the smile. He was glad to see she was still alive.
Earlier that morning they were exploring, when they were taken prisoners by a band of thugs. They were going to sacrifice a virgin to the gods, but picked Sam instead. Somehow she managed to free herself and the team. She still wore the gown they put on her. It shone in the dim light that flitted though the trees. It was a deep blue, but on the edge was pure a white trim. The gown's sleeves came past her hands, and the bottom dragged slightly along the ground. She had to lift it so she wouldn't step on it or trip over it.
Daniel had finish dialing.
The wormhole came out towards them like a speeding train, but as soon as it came, it left. This wormhole could take them half way across the galaxy and back. Jack and Sam stood at the bottom of the steps. Jack held out a hand for Sam.
"Ladies first." He gave a little smile.
Sam was not amused, but she just picked up the bottom of her dress, took Jack's hand and walked up the stairs. Just to amuse him and his silly games. Then she stepped into the wormhole.
The wormhole felt cold on her warm face. They had to get away from the kidnappers by running, so she felt hot.
Sam emerged from the opposite side to see the sight she knew and hoped to see every time; at lest three armed men, bright lights, noise and the General standing at the bottom of the ramp. Daniel and Teal'C had now emerged from the StarGate. The General's green eyes looked over Sam. Hammond had no hair and a big, pot belly.
Jack calmly walked away from the wormhole as it disappeared. Daniel and Teal'C walked away. Sam did feel like the 'girl,' she thought as she stood at the top of the ramp, feeling foolish.
"Major, you all right?" Jack asked, taking off his green cap.
She turned and looked in his eyes, to see if he cared at all. "Ah," She wanted to tell him that she hated feeling like the 'girl,' she wanted him to have more confidence in her, but instead she said. "No, sir."
He gave her a quick smile. "You know, that dress looks good on you."
"Thank-you, sir."
He walked off with Sam following.
Two hours later they sat at the conference table, telling the General about their ordeal. Sam sat in silence as Jack talked about how Sam free them. Though Sam wasn't listening to the men, she was going over in her head how she did escape. Marcus, one of the kidnappers, came to untie her and take her out to be killed. When he had finished and took the rope off her arms, Sam managed to kick him hard in the family jewels, as he bent down she kicked him in the head. He fell to the ground unconscious. Sam ran to the hut Jack, Teal'C and Daniel were tie-up in and freed them.
She came out of her daze when Jack gave her a light shove. She gave him a quick look.
"SG-1, your next planet is P3X 233." Hammond said. "Dismissed."
They all stood, collected their folders and walked away. All, but Sam, she went back into a daze. Jack was about to walk away, when he saw Sam. So he walked up to her and stood next to her.
"Carter?"
Sam spun around on the chair. "Truth or dare, sir?" She asked, as she stood. She had a slight sarcastic tone in her voice.
"What?"
"Truth or dare, sir?"
"Ah, truth."
"The truth sir? Why not the truth?"
Jack's face looked confused, but before he could say anything, Sam walked away, Jack watched her leave. What the hell did she mean?
***
Two days later the StarGate was dialing. At the bottom of the ramp stood Sam, Jack, Teal'C and Daniel. They were all dressed in their green uniform, with 'SG-1' inbreeded-on the one side of their arms. On the other was the symbol, that looked like a capital a, with a circle on top. They wore a black vest, with all the stuff they needed. Carter carried her gun in her right hand, with the left hand slightly resting on the end. Teal'C held his weapon, like a walking stick, in his right hand. Jack put on his light green, army hat, took out his glasses and then took one last look around before follow Daniel, Sam and Teal'C, up the ramp and into the wormhole.
Sam came out the other-side feeling a bit sick, like the way she always did. No matter how many times she did it, she still felt sick. Sam learned the best way to deal with it was just to shake it off. She gave a quick look around, to see only lash, green trees. Beautifully growing around the StarGate, like a fence telling them, 'Stay Out.' Sam stomach churned, she had a bad feeling about this. In the corner of her eye, she could see the sun creep into a gape between the branches, it would dance and played tricks.
Jack and Sam walked slowly down the steps; Sam went off to the right, and Jack went to the left. Away to Sam's right she heard a twig break. She turned her gun to the noise. Jack heard her and the noise, so he did the same, as did Teal'C. Sam was the first to see a man stumble out of the bushes, half dead.
His light, brown, tatted clothes had been ripped and torn, his matted hair was covered in sweat, he didn't wear any shoes, and his bare legs and arms were scratched and bleeding. His shirt was covered in blood; it stuck to his bear chest. The blood stained his clothes. In his hand he held a bloodstained arrow, with his blood on it. He stated to fall to the ground, so Sam grabbed him, lowering him gently to the ground. He closed his eyes. Sam could feel him breathing, softly and slowly.
By now Jack, Teal'C and Daniel were at her side. The dying man let out a cough before opening his eyes an inch.
"Go!" He did his best to talk. "Just Go!" He gave out another cough. His face grew whiter beneath the blood that dripped from his forehead. His eyes closed, and he let out one last breath. He was dead. Sam laid him gently on the ground, then looked up to Jack, who just shrugged and shook his head. In the background, they heard a brunch brake and fall. Sam, Daniel, Teal'C and Jack turned to the noise. Behind them, leaves started to shake dead brown leaves that lay on the Ground, crunched under someone's feet. The trees around them some, noise, as if hiding something, or someone.
"Ah, Major?"
"Yes, sir?"
"Maybe we should...." It was too late.
Before Jack had finish, SG-1 found them selves surrounded, by women....
They wore short skirts and tops. Each of them carried weapons bows and arrows, swords or a staff. They had either blond or red hair, expect one, she had long, black hair, she held a sword in her right hand. She wore a short, black, leather skirt, with a tight top. This woman that stood out of the crowd, stepped forward. She gave a quick look to Jack, then to the dead man in front of him. She kneed to the ground, while putting her sword down. Having then sat next to the dead man, she took the arrow from his hand, then raising it above her head, she drove the arrow though the dead man's chest one, two, three times.
Sam's face grew a faint pale; she stood where she was, slightly shaking. She could feel her chest ache, for him. Sadness grew inside, for the dead man, though she didn't know him. Jack saw Sam's face and decided to change the subject.
"Hello, how's your day been?" He asked.
The women looked up to Jack; she had light, blue eyes with a hint of green. She raised to her feet, still looking at Jack. Once to her feet, she turns her head to look at six women. Then did a quick, movement towards Jack, Teal'C and Daniel, with her head. Who went up to them, made them kneel on the wet ground, took their weapons and tied their hands together.
"What's going on?" Jack demanded, confused.
The women, who now, appeared to be the leader, went up to Sam, who's face was still pale. The leader bowed down to Sam, She gave a look of confusion to Jack, who gave her the same look back. Once the other women saw their black hair leader, they bowed down to Sam, as well. Sam thought it was best to straighten things out.
"Ah, hello, I'm...." Sam began, but was interrupted by the leader.
"Sasher, the savior." She said, as she slowly raised to her feet, followed by the other women. "I am, Raven, Queen of the Amazons," Raven bowed her head and continued. "You are Sasher, the savior."
"What? Me? I think your a little con..." again Sam was interrupted.
"Wrong!" Raven yelled, then she took a deep breath. "This is not the place to speak of these things. Follow." And with that, she walked off into the surrounding forest, with the other women disappearing behind her.
Beautiful Hibiscuses and other tropical flowers slashed rainbow colors on either side of the hidden path. Water stood in puddles on the rocky ground. Thin mahogany trees with twisted trunks and smooth bark protruded in every direction, swallowed by thorny shrubs and flowering weeds. Ferns brushed Sam's legs, sprinkling droplets of water from frequent rainstorms. They walked on though the bush. It was so thick, Sam wondered if they knew were they were going, themselves. It was a while until someone spoke up, it was Jack.
"So, Raven, were are we going, exactly?" Jack asked, trying to be smart, without sounding smart.
"Quite male!" Raven yelled, and pushed him in the back.
Sam guessed they were heading to their base, or something. Awhile after that, they came to a clearing. In that clearing was the Amazon's home. There was at lest five big huts and ten smaller huts everywhere, they were colored green like the trees, to try and hide them. Raven moved pointing her finger to a small hut on the out-side of camp.
"Take them in there, place guards at the door."
"And away we go." Jack cracked another funny. Sam gave a giggle, but tried to hide it.
"This way, Sasher."
"Raven, my name is Sa..." Sam tried, again.
"Not any more," Raven led her to a hut, sitting alone from the rest. It was a deeper green then the other huts. Sam only saw one small window as she passed though the doorway. Raven made Sam sit on a chair, which looked like a throne. It was a light brown in color, with a few green leaves for decoration. It was cooler inside then out; she felt that the hut had something about it, some deep past that couldn't be explained. Some other woman came in and set down some food, on a hand woven mat in front of her. And walked out.
"Ah, Raven you mentioned something about me being a savior?" Sam asked, she needed answers.
"Yes, I did." Raven sat down across from Sam. "When my mother was a child, war was upon my people. Men. They worshipped a god called Ares, God of War. They would came though ‘The round running water." Sam guest she was talking about the StarGate. Raven went on. "They killed over half my people. One day Hera came to us and said. ‘One day a true warrior will came and lead your people, she will be the savior called, Sasher.’ I had almost given up hope that she would come, but here you are."
Sam's face turned white. "Oh, dear." She whispered.
Meanwhile...
Trapped in a hut all alone. Jack was getting frustrated. Where the hell was Sam? What was she doing? What was she wearing? What was he thinking?! Daniel paced back and forth in front of Jack.
"Daniel, for crying out loud, will you cut that out, your making me dizzy," Jack tried to stay clam.
"Sorry." Daniel mumbled, as he sat next to Teal'C on a wooden bench. "I'm trying to remember, what I know of the Amazons." He looked at the roof.
"Well?"
"Well, what?"
"Well, what do you know?" Jack was feel more and more frustrated.
"Oh, um, let me see." Daniel thought for awhile. "Greek mythology. They worship Hera." He thought a bit longer then remembered something better. "One day while at war with men, she said that, ‘A true warrior will save them, she was called Sasher.’ Oh dear."
"They think that Captain Carter is their warrior, Sasher." Teal'C mentioned.
"Yeah, well, she’s not." Jack said as he rose to his feet, heading towards the door. "She's mine," he muttered, under his breath.
Daniel gave a quick look to Teal'C, before rising to his feet and walked to the opposite wall. Jack rested his arm on the door, then put his head on his arm. He couldn't stand being in small places. He heard some feet walking up to the door, so he stepped back. A woman stepped in, with two others behind her. She had same hardness in her face, but her eyes were soft.
"The holy women wishes to speak with you." She pointed to Jack.
"Oh, cool." Was the only thing Jack could think to say, as he walked out of the damp hut and into the setting sun's warmth. He had only awhile to have a look at the camp, but what he did see was not useful. He was then pushed into a bigger hut. He was slowly looking around the hut, when he was pushed to his knees and then was left alone in the cold hut.
"You all right Colonel?" A calm, worried, familiar voice asked.
Jack turned his head, to the voice. What he saw, was a shocking sight. Sam was dressed in a dark brown, short skirt, and an even shorter, brown matching top. "Oh hi, Sam." She could tell he was shocked. "This is becoming a habit."
"I know, sir," Sam replied.
"Well, any way," Jack continued, as he kneeled on the cold ground, looking up to Sam. "I don't suppose you know who the ‘Holy Women’ is?"
"Yes, sir, I do." Sam said helping Jack to his feet.
"Who, then?"
"It's me, sir. I Am the Holy Women." Was all Sam could say.
"You!" Jack took a breath. "Congratulations, Sam, or should I say, Sasher."
Sam gave him an amused smile. "There is some bad news, sir."
"You mean it gets worse than this?"
"Yes, sir." Sam was standing a step away from Jack. She couldn’t bring herself to look him in his eyes. "Raven wants me to kill you, sir." Sam cringed. She felt her heart brake. The words swelled in her throat.
"What!?" Jack’s voice, rose a little.
"Colonel, they don’t trust me yet." Sam replied, trying not to raise her own voice. But having said that the words sounded stupid.
Jack took a breath. "Well, are you going to?" He asked in a calmer voice.
"To, what?" Sam looked up in to his eyes.
"To, kill me!" Jack yelled back.
"Of course not." Sam did her best to keep, calm.
"Well what are we going to do?"
"I don't know, sir."
Outside, the sun started to set. The sky darken, the shadows became bigger and darker. A fresh breeze set in, as the first star was making a show in the dusky sky. On one side of the sky, it was still light, but growing darker as time went on. With the sun still setting, making a lovely shade of orange, red and blue. From her hut, Sam watched the sky slowly change color, as she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Jack rubbed his eyes, it was later now and still he couldn't sleep. The cold ground that he laid on didn’t help his back, one little bit. Out-side, he could hear the chatting of people talking, walking by and the crackle of a warm fire. He could smell the fire’s smoke as it drifted into the hut, and then it would slowly leave.
***
The next day, out in the early sun's warmth, kneeling on the warming ground, cold and confused, was Colonel O’Neill. He didn't care about anything, he kept his head down, and Jack was tired because he didn't sleep one bit last night. He didn't want to look at Sam. He heard a yell from Raven.
"The savior, Sasher!"
"She needs a new name." Jack whispered to no one.
Sam walked out with her head held up high, in her hand she held a dagger, a dagger of death. It had a smooth, black handle, with a silver blade. Sam walked up to Jack, bent over and whispered into his ear.
"I will stab you in the heart where I will always keep you." She ran her fingers, though his hair. He looked up at her seeing her icy blue eyes, the power they possessed. Sam moved closer and kissed him gently on the lips. Then moved slowly away, with him still looking at her. Moving her arm slowly back, she thrust the dagger into the fallen man.
Sam awoke with a jerk, frighten by the nightmare. She looked out the window, it was darker now, and all the stars had come out to play. Sam gave a sigh of relief; glad it was only a nightmare, but it could came true. She got out of bed, and walked out of the hut, unable to sleep. A little fire was starting to smoke, nobody was around, and the dark night gave out an eerie sound. A dark cloud past the bright, full moon, sending a dark shadow over the camp. A cold breeze set on the camp. Sam walked towards the same hut that Jack was kept in. The guards had gone from four to nine, why? The thought of him made Sam remember her dream, she felt all alone, with no one to turn to. No one.
Morning broke. Sam sitting next to the fire, she made. Raven walked out of her hut and saw Sam alone, so she went over to talk to her.
"Good morning Sasher."
"Good morning Raven."
"How did you sleep?"
"Not much. Raven," Sam stood up. "I don't think I can kill the Colonel. He means to much to me."
"If you don't," Raven raised her voice a little. "Then you will die!" With that she stranded off, again leaving Sam alone, to keep warm by the fire. As night drew closer, the pains in Jack's chest grow more. Daniel sat next to him.
"Jack, I wouldn't worry."
"I'm not." Jack whispered, softly.
Awhile after, the three of then were kneeling on the cooling ground. In the distances the sun was setting making the air cold, the sky set the seen, for the slay. With a call from Raven.
"Own saver, Sasher!"
Jack's heart skipped a beat. A woman next to him made him stand, while she untied his hands. Sam walked out of the shadows, in her hand she held the same dagger that was in her dream, but this time it would not came true. Jack looked into Sam's eyes, he could tell she had a plan.
Raven stood next to Sam. "Though the heart, he'll die with no pain."
"Sorry." Sam whispered, ever so softly.
With that she, moved her hand downwards, then stabbed Raven's leg. Raven screamed out in pain, her blood covered Sam's hand, making them feel sticky. When Jack noticed what she did he untie knocked out the women standing next to him. Jack then untied Daniel's hand, Sam ran over and untied Teal'C's. For a slit second Jack and Sam's eyes met, filling them both with joy.
"Get then!" Raven yell, as she was helped up.
"Came on, to the StarGate." Jack yelled to them. Daniel and Teal'C ran a head. Sam stopped in front of Jack.
"Colonel, I." She said softly.
"Tell me, later." He pushed her on, took a look around, then ran on himself.
The jungle at night held a thousand noises, a thousand shadows, a thousand threats, and a thousand secrets... The big, silvery coin of the moon cast it's watery light like rain, barely penetrating the clenched fists of branches above. Sam felt as if she had been transported into another universe, all alone. She slowed to get her bearings. She could see the stars, but was barely able to discern the trampled path though the under bush. They run back though the trees, over the fallen the logs. Above her head she could hear the Amazons, trying to beat them to the StarGate. Teal'C and Daniel could just be seen. Jack caught up to Sam. He looked over to her. She did look good in brown. He couldn't see Daniel or Teal'C anymore. Sam and Jack came out of the clearing, to be greeted by Raven and twenty other Amazons.
With Jack, Teal'C and Daniel, standing helpless at the top of the stairs, they were right back where they started. Surrounding them were most of the Amazons, Sam had only to open the StarGate, to kill them. She started putting the address for Earth. Jack seeing as well, she stopped for a moment, looking up at Jack. An annoyed Queen got even more annoyed. So annoyed, that she pushed Sam out of the way.
"Get down!" Jack yelled pushing Daniel and Teal'C to the ground. Raven opened the Gate, missing Jack, Teal'C and Daniel. Sam whacked Raven over the head with a big branch, bring her to the ground. She then kicked the closest Amazon, to her. Seeing that Daniel, Teal'C and Jack were all right, Sam run up to them. "Everyone all right?" Jack asked quickly.
Raven slowly got to her feet, with a bow and arrow, in her hand. She felt rage poor over her.
"Let's go home." Jack whispered, happy to be leaving this place.
Teal'C and Daniel went first, Sam and Jack were going to go next. When Sam turned around and saw, Raven aiming an arrow right at Jack. "Colonel!" She screamed, her voice was filled with fear. He turned his head, afraid of what he might see. At that moment Raven fired the arrow. It sliced though the air, not caring were it went. Sam grabbed Jack on the shoulders, pulling herself in front of him, so that her back was towards Raven. The arrow struck her hard in the back, pushing her against him. Jack felt his whole world came crashing down, why her? He felt her body getting heavier, her face grew white. The force of the arrow pushed Jack and Sam though the StarGate.
For a moment Sam couldn't hear, feel or see anything. When her eyes started to focus, that's when the sharp pain in her back seemed to grow, spread all over her body. She felt like a thousand pins had pierced her body, the pain grew beyond anything that she had ever felt. Pain was everywhere. She could hear people yelling, but the one voice the stuck out most, was Jack's worried voice.
"Cater, are you all right?" His voice, was filled with concern.
Sam relished that she was laying on him. She felt weak, couldn't move. Carter felt pain everywhere, from the beating in her head, to the sting in her back.
"Ouch," she tried to move. "I...I'm, I'm fine." Sam whispered softly, lying to herself and to Jack.
"I never thought I'd fall for you." He joked.
Jack pulled himself from under her as the medics arrived, and he watched as they carried her away. Sam had just saved his life, though she did look good in brown.
"Is she going to make it, Doc?" Jack asked, as he, Daniel, Teal'C and Hammond, sat at the conferences table, talking to Dr. Fraser. She moved her brown hair behind her ears, to read her notes.
"Well, I've had the lab do some test on the arrow, itself," Dr. Fraser looked down at her notes and Jack knew it was bad news. "It seems it had some poison on it." She looked up, with sadness in her warm brown eyes."It's a powerful poison, I don't think there's anything I can do, but make her comfortable." Jack raises to his feet, feeling mad.
"We can't give up that easy!" Jack half yelled, trying to keep calm.
"Of course not." Answered Hammond.
"General I don't see what we can do." Fraser interrupted.
"So you mean she's going to die!?" Jack asked, sitting down. He tried desperately to control his anger, but failed.
"Colonel, please," Janet said in a quite voice. "I don't want her to die as well."
Daniel got to his feet and started pacing.
"Dammit!" Jack growled, getting to his feet he stalked out of the briefing room.
Jack walked into sickbay. On the bed before him, he saw the stillest body, he had ever seen. He wanted to go up to her, make sure she was alive. As he grew closer, he saw Sam's pale face. It looked as if at any moment it would disappear, fade away into non-living. He sat down on a chair next to her, watching her breath for a moment, hoping she would never stop.
"Sam," there was no answer, but he still went on. "You asked once for the truth, I now want to know what you meant by that." He breathed in deeply. "Do you want to know how I feel about you? Is that it?" Jack's eyes filled with tears and he swallowed down a lump in his throat, hoping the tightness in his chest would subside as well. Jack placed his strong male hand, on Sam's pale female hand it felt so cold and he had a sadden urge to warm it up. Jack brought his lips to her lips and whispered. "I love you, Sam." He lent forward and kissed her gentle on the lips.
He pulled back hearing the rhythmic beeping form the heart monitor machine. At that moment Daniel, Teal'C, Hammond and Dr. Fraser walked in. Jack held onto her hand not letting her die alone. The heart monitor then let out a long, loud, beep. Dr. Fraser checked her pulse, Jack could tell by the look on her face.
Sam was dead.
Jack stood up and walked out the door, not looking back. He felt as though he had lost something, that he could never find again.
The end.
From Deniz Tell me what you thought about it. :)
