THE SNOW ISLAND

"The plan is bulletproof," Hammond talked to his two officers in front of him. "You go in, find out what you need to know, then get out."

Captain Samantha Carter jotted down some notes, using her soft blue eyes she read over them. "No messing around," He addressed this to Colonel Jack O'Neill, who in return looked at him innocently.

Hammond had known the two for about fifteen years going on fifty. They always worked together, with no one else. They were the best in the business, top line, and they didn't trust anyone but each other. Their job was too find people who terrorizes the city or anything, and deal with it accordingly.

"Any questions?" Hammond asked the two.

"So we go in, find out what we need to know, then get out? Sounds like fun, sir."

Sam smiled, 'Jack and his dry humor,' was all she could think of.

"You ship out at 1400 hours, be here early. Dismiss."

O'Neill and Carter gathered their notes, stood and walked out the door. "See you in the morning, Captain."

"I look forward too it."

At precisely 1400 Sam and Jack were ready to go. Sam wore a black beanie over her short blonde hair. Jack wore a black cap over his short brown hair. They each wore the same warm black uniform, ideal for the cold conduction in Antarctica. Both Sam and Jack were equipped with their own snow jets, first aid, explosives, guns, warm blankets, cooking gear and food. Hammond wished them luck, and then they set off.

Mission intelligence had word that two terrorists, Piper and her husband Seth Green, had a base right in the middle of Antarctica. They were planning to blow up the White House, Jack and Sam was going to put a stop to their fiendish plan.

By nightfall they were half way there, they would start again before the sun rose, until then they would set-up camp, have something to eat, then get an early night.

The sun dipped down as though it was hiding from the cold night, frighten that the cold might harm it in same way. There was no red sky and Sam knew that tomorrow was going to be a bad day. After eating they crawled into their tents, got close to each other, and fell asleep. The night was cold; the wind whipped around their tent, all night it made howling sounds. The sky was jet black, like a black lake and the sparkling stars bright diamonds in the black lake.

Before sun rose they had eaten, pack up camp and started off again. This time, there was a red sky it knotted Sam's stomach. She wouldn't let it get in the way, no matter what her gut told her.

By mid-afternoon that day, they had reached Piper and Seth Green's hideout. Jack and Sam left their bags and snow jets a mile away, Sam taking the right and Jack taking the left, they headed off.

"I told you the bomb is set, it will go off in three hours, dumb brains."

"Oh Piper you're so smart, so beautiful, so, so..."

"So, so what?" Piper puffed. She was so full of herself, so far up herself she couldn't see daylight.

"We're going to blow up the White House, we're going to blow up the White House," Seth started dancing around in circles. "We're going to blow up the White House...."

"Oh dear." Piper moaned, slapping her head at the same time. "If you weren't so goddam cute I would have got rid of you years ago."

The tent flapped in the cold wind, outside their helicopter waited for them. Their plan was simple. Hideouts here until the White House blew up then they would pack up, take the helicopter and go live in New Mexico. Piper sat down and continued her work on her computer, Seth continued to ran around in circles, when suddenly Piper thought she heard the soft crunching of feet under the snow outside.

"Shut up!" Piper yelled. Seth froze with fear from Piper's loud voice. There it was again, very soft. So soft that if she didn't had a trained ear she might have missed it, but luckily she'd been doing this awhile. Piper picked up her small handgun checked the clip was full, turned to Seth and told him. "Stay put." Then walked out.

Sam was walking slowly around the helicopter looking for away to blow it up, when she heard what sounded like a crack of thunder on a hot summer night, it sent a chill though her bones. 'Was it Jack's gun?' Her stomach churned, her mind was working over time. What to do, she couldn't stay here and do nothing hoping it was nothing. Her mind came up with a thousand possibilities, but she only came up with one thing, see if Jack was fine.

Maybe if she did something else maybe everything would have turned out differently. She glided over the snow as if it wasn't there, as if she was floating on air, her feet never made a sound as she ran to the gunshot. A few seconds later Sam came to the tent, she slowly moved around to the other side with her gun in her hand. As she poked her head around the side of the tent she saw him. He looked like a rag doll, a non-moving, useless, lump of rags with blood dripping from the bullet hole in his back. She couldn't go check on Jack, who knows who else was there, she would have to wait. Sam felt like she was going to vomit up her own stomach. She was so busy trying to keep her stomach down and think of a plan that she didn't hear the silent footsteps walking toward her.

"Captain Samantha Carter I presume." Piper stood over Sam with a big smile appearing on her face. "I expected more of a...fight."

Sam felt stupid, but she wasn't going to give in that easy. Carter stood up slowly, when she was about half way up she bolded her hand. Sam then drove it into Piper's stomach, which in return made her dropped her gun, Sam made a reach for it, when she was half way there she heard a creak of thunder, but it was to late. Piper looked over, behind her Seth had a big smile on his face, and a gun in the other.

Two hours later Sam sat in the back of the helicopter with Jack just regaining consensus in her lap, Seth sat in the front with Piper flying. They had taken their guns, bags, food, snow jets, everything away from them.

"Wha, what happen?" Jack asked half out of it.

"Take it easy, sir." Sam pleaded knowing he wouldn't listen. She was right he sat, he sat up so fast it made his head throb even more, he wrench in pain.

"I told you so." Sam mocked.

"Ah, so sleeping beauty has awaken." Piper said in a evil voice.

"Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha...." Seth burst out with laughter. "That was funny," he sucked in same air making sucking noses, then started laughing again.

"Shut up!" Piper screamed at him. Piper then explained to them why she was flying them to an iceberg so that they wouldn't spoil her plans too blowup the White House, so they would be left on a cold iceberg to die. Seth started laughing hysterical again, until Piper slapped him over the head.

Ten more minuets they were pushed out of the helicopter onto a small iceberg, roughly the size of a big house. The helicopter took off with the sound of Seth laughing then the sound of Piper slapping him over the head. Sam started laughing at that moment.

"What's so funny?" Jack asked, not getting the joke.

"I forgot I had a garnered in my boot." Jack still didn't get it, but when he saw the helicopter explode, he got it. The force of the blast pushed Jack and Sam onto their backs.

"Colonel are you all right?"

"Are you?"

"Fine, thanks." Jack tried to get up, Sam saw that the bleeding hadn't stop. "Colonel, you're bleeding."

"Sam we've known each other for how long? Fifteen years now, I think you can call me Jack."

"Whatever came here."

"I'll be fine." Jack then fell to the icy cold ground unconsenes. Sam lay down next to him, she had to keep him warm other wise he wouldn't made it though the night.

'Keep him warm.' The words spanned around in her mind. 'Keep him warm.' Night had come and it was cold, light snowflakes began to fall. Sam's body heat wouldn't be enough, they needed blankets, and they needed them now. Jack was going to die and there was a thing she could do. But if he was going to die so saw she. Sam lay there watching his chest raise and fall slowly. Jack was bleeding his last drop of blood, then it happen, Sam couldn't take it any more she closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
