Sam limped into the debriefing room, leaning against Jack as she slowly lowerd into her chair. General Hammond and a few other doctors sat waiting for her. She smiled as she felt Jack's encouraging hand slip into her's and give her a small squeeze.

"How are you feeling, Major?" A man with jet black hair asked across from her.

"Fine, Thankyou." She said lying through her teeth. She was in pain and everybody knew it. The only thing keeping her from crying out in pain was Jack's warm hand in hers. Her face couldn't hide the pain though. Her face was full of black bruises and a unmistable slit from her ear to her lips. Her arm was in a sling and you could see the black brusies creeping out from under her collar.

She smiled to reassure them she was fine but whinced as the mustles in her neck protested. "Are you sure your up for this Carter?" General Hammond aske worridly. He didn't like what he saw. What he saw was one of his brightest and bravest solider, trying to cover this discomfort she was feeling after she was brutily attacked. He noticed Jack keeping his protective eyes on her at all times, waiting for the slightest indication that she wanted to leave.

"Sure. I need to do this." She said confidently. She took a deep breath and awaited the qestions. SHe looked at Jack for strength and he readily gave it. Rubing her hand. She smiled and took a deep breath.

"When did you meet Alexander Franky?" The doctor with black hair asked.

"5 days ago. At a Barbeque that was being held in General Hammonds wife hounour." SHe looked at Hammond and gave him a confident smile. He nodded at her. "His car was broken down so i offerd to give him a ride to the petrol station."

"Yes." The other doctor said confirming this. "Did you know that Colonel O'Neill knew this man?" Sam shifted her gaze to Jack and he nodded.

"Not till after. No." She said taking a small sip of water, for her try throat.

"After when?" The 3rd doctor asked.

"After Colonel O'Neill confronted me about him."

"What did the Colonel say?" The men stared at her and Sam looked at Jack again. He squeezed her hand and his eyes told her that it was ok.

"He said that he was trouble. That he knew Alex from a military camp, that Alex was kicked out of Military school because of suspected murder of his CO, Colonel Jessica Whitting." She took a deep breath.

"But you didn't belive him did you?"

Sam shook her head. "No. I didn't. Alex was very sweet and charming and I thought...." She ducked her head.

"Go on." The encouraged her.

"I thought that he was just Jealous. Because didn't have someone." She looked at Jack, guilt written all over her face. "I was wrong. I should of listened. The Colonel was just looking out for my best intrest."

She looked down at her glass, unable to face the men before her. Unable to forgive herself for beeing to mean to the Colonel. She replayed that night before her. Her words slicing through her as she told him he was 'selfish' and 'jealous'. Sam hadn't meant to be so mean and had told him that 'at least Alex could admit his own feelings, instead of being a coward'.

"Tell me Major, what happend after that?" The 1st doctor asked.

Sam bit her lip. "Alex asked me out to dinner. He said it was a fancy restraunt so i had to dress up fancy. I went and i had an awful time. Alex kept talking about bombs and how he had made this home made bomb and was going to take it over sea's with him and test it out on the russians." She took a gulp of the water and let it slid down her throat. "Then he asked me to come with him, be his side kick." She paused. "I said no and he got angry. I left the restraunt and went outside to get my car. As i walking to the car he attacked me from behind and pushed me up against the wall."

Sam bit back the lump in her throat and swallowed. She tightened her grip on Jack's hand and smiled at him. Her eyes brimming with tears. " I told him to let go and i hit him. I managed to drive away."

The doctors consutled each other and Jack gave her a soothing rub on her good shoulder. The doctors turned back. "Could you please give us a detailed account on what happend after you left him? We have your record but it's is very sketchy. "

Sam nodded. "I arrived at my house and..."

Sam pulled the car to a stop. She looked into the revison mirror and wiped her tear stained eyes. "Pull yourself together Major." She told herself annoyed that she let a man of all things upset her. She pulled herself out of her vunrable state and slipped into Major mode. Leaning back to the backseat she reached over to grap her purse. She undid her seat belt and reached back for it.

Turning, jumped as Alex stood before her. Cold green eyes staring at her with an intestity that made her skin crawl. She instictivly wound up the open window and locked the doors. He tapped at her window. Sam almost died from fear as he jingled her car keys outside. She looked at her steering wheel and saw the car keys where missing. "Alex go away." She called out to him, hidding her fearfull eyes. She looked up and gasped as he disappeared.

Sam had faced many a alien threat. Single handed beaten of Serpent Gaurds, but nothing scared her more than not knowing where the enemy was. Outside the street lamps barely made out the grass footpaths underneath them. It was not a good night for hide and seek. She leant over to her dashboard, hoping she'd left a gun in the glove box. But she hadn't. She hadn't figured she would need one. After all it was meant to be a nice classy date. Not a game of cat and mouse.

Something moved under the car and she prayed it was a cat. Leaning down and holding her breath she pulled out the wires. She'd just have to hot wire it. There was no way she was going to sit here all night, waiting for him to attack her. Her back winced from pain, remembering when he pushed her against the hard wall. But she bit her lip as the wires sparked.

The engine fired up and the car yawned. Without a seconds thought she pulled her car out of the spot and sped down the street. She turned the block not knowing where to go. There was the base, but he was still a civillian. The stargate wasn't worth her life. Jack. She thought. Maybe he would forgive her, for her pety insults and rude coments. He was still her CO and it was his job to look out for his team mates. She turned towards his direction and looked behind her.

A black car sleeked behind her. It's taillights blinding her from seeing what was behind her. Sam bit her lip again, concentrating on the road. Trying to push her fear of the crazed man behind her. Oh god Jack, please be home. She prayed.

Her car was struck from behind and she swore openly. She pulled the car back on the road and pushed her heel down futher on the accelerator. Please, just go away. She begged Alex in her mind. Why, oh, Why didn't she listen to Jack? She thought for not the first time this night. She drove on, egnoring the fact that he was nudging her car closer and closer to the side of the road. Where the hell is everyone? She thought wishing a car would go past. No one did. It was bone chilling how silent it was.

This time though she couldn't egnore the bump and she was pushed off the road. She gripped the steering wheel with all her might and tried to to turn. But the car bucked like a wild horse and sent her tumbling down the hill. Sam closed her eyes as the car collided with a large tree and stopped. She opened her eyes and pushed away from the wheel. She heard the car behind her, pull to a stop at the top of the hill. Not waiting to find out what else he had planned she opened the door.

Tugging and grunting she pulled her legs out from under the crumbled front and tore her dress as she tumbled onto the wet grass. Gasping she looked up to see him walking slowly towards her. "Sam, Sam, Sam." He said shaking his head. Sam jumped to her feet. She looked around wildly and ran towards the trees. "You can run Sam, but you can't hide." He called out teasingly.

Sam didn't care and stumbled and ran through the forest. She was a trained airforce officer. She could beat a man up twice her size. But it didn't calm her rising fear. She had no wepon, she was alone, she was in a dark forest and in a coktail dress no less. Her only hope was to get to Jack's house. She didn't care how damsel in distress she sounded. She needed to get to Jack's. That was Alex's only weakness. Jack. Alex was afraid of Jack, he showed it every time Jack came near him.

"Sam, baby, come on. I wont hurt you." There was a laugh. "No, actually thats a lie. I'm gonna Fuck you to kingdom come." Sam could see him walking towards her. She looked around blindly. It was so dark in the forest. She couldn't see a thing. She started running again, pushing tree's and scrubs behind her, trying to claw her way through the darkness.

This wasn't happening, this wasn't her. It was a dream. A nightmare. She could feel him behind her now and she dropped down into a scrub of bush, hidding her shaking body. She peaked through the bush and saw him standing infront of her. She held her breath. "Sam, i'm disapointed. Where's all that military training they taught you? I wanted a least a decent fight before i killed you."

Sam bit her lip. He was right. Where was her training. Her mind was blank. All she could think of was distract the enemy. Keep him down and then run like hell. No that wasn't military, that was Jack's motto. Hit and run like hell. She took his words in and looked around for a branch. She slowly eased out and pulled it towards her. "Sam. " His voice was icily cold and she wondered why she ever accepted the date.

Alex had his back to her now. Slowly she rose from the bush and crept towards him. Just as he turned she beat him across the head with a branch. He utterd a cry of pain and fell to the floor. Sam dropped the branch and ran again. She didn't even look back at the slumped body on the dirt. She ran towards the lighter part of the tree's and stumpled out onto a track. She knew this track. It wound up to Jack's back fence. Her and Daniel had taken Cassie for a walk, when they suddenly got lost. Jack had found them eventually and made a track from the woods to his house, so they wouldn't get lost again.

Sam heard a thrashing behind her and she whirled around. She could make out the figure in black. She turned. "Jack?" she asked quietly. There was a roar and Alex sprinted towards her. She screamed and ran up the track. Alex was faster. He pinned her to the floor and punched her. Sam utterd a small cry and kicked him off. Running she felt him grap her anckle and she slipped.

"Sam. Play nice." Alex leered and pulled her towards him. She used her bare foot to kick him with her heel in the face. He grapped her dress and it tore as she crawled forward. She went flying as he let go and she sprinted up the hill. Jack's house could be seen at the top of the hill. "Nah ah ah." He teased. "No running to Jack."

Alex grapped her by the hair and pulled her down. She let out a scream as she felt the cool metal slice her hip. "Jack!" She screamed hopping he was on the roof looking at the stars. Hoping against hope that he could hear her. Alex clamped a hand over her mouth. She screamed through it and it came out muffeld. She could feel his hand run up her dress and pull her panties aside. Fear filled her.

Insticts took over and she kneed him in the groin. He cried out and she kicked him off her. She ran again towards Jack's back fence. She ducked out of the way as he lunged for her. "Jack!" She screamed again, reaching his fence. Alex came up behind her and pushed her face into the fence. He plunged the knife into her shoulder this time and she screamed in pain.

"I told you, no Jack." Alex yelled. He pulled her back down the track and she punched him. Breaking free for only a moment she ran towards the fence again. "No" He cried and pinned her to the floor. He grinned enjoying her cries for help as he ran the knife over her face.

"Please." Sam begged. "Please just let me go." She cried, tears of fear streaming down her face. "Please." She begged one last time. She cried out as he slit her cheak."Pllleeee." She wimperd. He lifted her up & pushed her against the fence. He diliverd a blow to her stomach and she cried out. With every bit of energy she had left she kicked and punched him. He fell back, the knife impeded in his arm.

"You...stabbed me." He gasped shocked. He ran after her again but she lifted her leg and kicked him in the stomach. He bent over and she jumped up and over the fence. She could see his lounge room light on and she dove through his back yard. Alex jumped the fence behind her and chased after her. There was a set of stairs that reach up to the balcony. Sam cried and slipped as she racced up them. Sam ran to Jacks back door and beated her fist against the door.

"Jack!" She screamed. "Oh god, JACK!" she yelled. Alex caught her and grapped her, pulling her back down the steps and towards the garden. Sam screamed and fought him. She reached out for the garden knome and smashed it over his head. Alex lurged backwards and she sprinted back up to the door. "Jack!" She yelled, she could hear the TV blaring and Daniel laughing. Sam looked over to Alex. He looked dazed and was struggling to his feet. Sam picked up the deck chair. There was a window. Small enough for her to fit through above the door. She used the chair to smash it. Alex ran after her yelling. Jumping up she caught the window ledged and pulled herself up.

"Oh no you don't." Alex yelled and grapped her anckles. She screamed and was halfway through the window, her dress ripping and glass tearing at her skin. She screamed again as she felt the knife puncture her calf. She kicked and screamed and fell through the window as Daniel came running in. "BITCH!" Alex screamed from behind the door. Sam scrambled up as the door was broken down and he chased after her. Alex grapped her legs and pulled her outside. She reached out for a shocked Daniel as she was pulled outside.

Sam screamed as he stabbed her in the arm. She looked up when she heard a gun shot. Alex slumped. Sam kicked and ran back to the door and ran inside. Jack stood there, gun in hand. Alex sprung up again and gripped her arm. She screamed as Jack fired again. Alex stumbled again. He Stumbled back and broke the balcony fence. Sam screamed as he pulled her down. She reached up and caught hold of the balcony. Alex fell the the bottom and she lay swinging, one hand holding deathly onto the wooden balcony. Jack ran over and pulled her up.

When she was up and in his arms she collapsed, crying. All she heard before she was unconious was his soothing words. "Your safe now. It's ok." and the world turned black before her...."

Sam couldn't help but let a tear escape from her eye. General Hammond nodded to Jack and he wrapped her in a hug. She was shaking from fear and dissolved into his warm arms. The doctors thanked General Hammond and left, leaving Sam and Jack alone.

Sam finally got herself together and looked up at him. "I'm sorry." She said sniffing as she wiped at the stained jacket. He smiled.

"Just call me the human hanky." He qwipped making her smile since the whole Alex episode. "You where right though." He told her. She looked at him confused. "I am a coward. I want to tell you how much i care for you, but i'm afraid." He bit his lip. SHe needed him and here he was going on selfishly saying how much he loved her.

"Don't Jack." She said looking up. "Don't feel bad. If i wasn't such a coward as well i would have never gone out with Alex." She looked around the room. "I only went out with him so i could see if you cared or not. To see if you really did want me."

Jack frowned. "But i do care. Really. I love you. I may not take you to fancy dinners or by you flowers, but i still care for you. I always have, I always will." Sam smiled and reached out and hugged him. "God, Sam i can't belive what that bastard did to you."

Sam stiffed. "He's dead now." she said flatly.

Jack looked at her. "Dead?" He asked confused. He only shot the man in the shoulder and leg. Surely the fall didn't kill him? Sam saw his look.

"He hanged himself in his cell yesterday" Her lip qwiverd. "Death to good for him." She said venomously. Jack hugged her again and stroked her head. "Don't let go , Jack." She whisperd in his ear. He hugged her tighter and rocked her back and forth. Vowing he'd never let her experince the suffering she felt now. From now on he'd do anything and everything to keep a smile on her face. To keep her happy.
