Feedback: Love it!

Disclaimer: I own nothing but this story. I intend no infringement in the use of the characters, who incidentally belong to Gekko, Double Secret, and MGM, and I make no money off of writing this story. It is simply for my, and hopefully the reader's, enjoyment.

Author's note: After watching "Tin Man" for the first time a while back, I had begun to wonder what would have happened between the Sam and Jack robots now that they no longer had the constraints of the military rules. This led to the original idea of this story. Then on the S&J list, Alicat made an interesting challenge (which I'll leave as a surprise for those of you who may not have read it <G>) and I decided to take it up. Finally, Arla (I do believe) challenged us on the S&J list to write a fic where Sam and Jack have sex in a place other than a bed.

Enjoy!

"There you go, all patched up," Sam stated, putting the finishing touches on the resealing of the new skin. "You're lucky that Harlen has all this stuff or else you'd be one heck of a mess."

"Yeah, yeah," Jack responded. "Speaking of Harlen, why isn't he doing this? He normally does." Sam found herself grinning.

"I think he's tired of having you as a cranky patient and he figured I'd have better luck."

"I'm not cranky," Jack complained, causing Sam to giggle. "Okay, I may have my moments," he allowed, "but why would he think you'd have better luck with me?" Sam flushed. She had to learn to keep her mouth shut, she thought. She didn't know what to say that wouldn't immediately sound like she was avoiding the question or pushing the limits. "Could it be that he knows something I don't?"

"What do you mean?" she asked, trying not to look at him.

"C'mon Sam," he prodded, then, when she didn't answer, he said quietly, "Samantha, tell me." She looked at him at the sound of her full name, something he barely if ever used. His expression was soft, setting her heart, or whatever was in there, pulsing faster. She gulped.

"I, uh, I guess he thought that since we're of a similar mind that we might..." she began.

[Holy Hannah, Sam, how much lamer of an excuse can you come up with? Just fess up already! You made sure that Harlen sent you,] she chastised herself.

"Are we?" Sam was surprised by his question. "Are we of a similar mind?" Jack asked again when she didn't answer. Somehow Sam had a feeling that Jack didn't mean of a similar military mind, because at some point one of his hands had migrated to her thigh and was caressing it. Definitely not something a CO would do, not without looking to get his ass in trouble.

[Knock, knock, Sam! He's not your CO any more, remember? GO FOR IT!] her mind screamed.

"I guess we are," she finally said, gaining a sexy smile from Jack. He removed his hand from her thigh, much to her disappointment, but her disappointment was gone as he put that same hand around the back of her neck to coax her toward him, finally kissing her deeply.

"Okay people, let's move out," O'Neill ordered once the 'gate was engaged. Jack sighed with relief as he made a final check of his equipment. They had been having problems since last night with the Stargate and his mission was going to be scrubbed except for the good fortune of one Samantha Carter who had fixed the problem. Jack glanced beside himself and smiled at the captain.

"What?" she asked, unable to stop herself from smiling as well.

"Just glad you're here, that's all." Sam chuckled and shook her head. "What's so funny?" She leaned toward him conspiratorially.

"Careful, colonel, you're going to go giving people ideas," she teased, making him laugh aloud which caused a few of the personnel to look their way.

"C'mon captain, we've got work to do," Jack stated, patting her on the back of her pack before he walked up the ramp. Sam was right behind him and Teal'c and Daniel were not far behind. Just as Sam walked through the event horizon, the lights in the 'gate room flickered. Milliseconds later, the iris slammed shut, making Teal'c and Daniel both jump back in surprise. They whipped around to look back at the control room to see if they knew what the hell was going on. All they saw was a controlled form of pandemonium. Seconds later, the all-too-familiar sound of the wormhole disengaging was heard, leaving a sick feeling in the stomachs of all there.

***

"Oof!" Sam exclaimed, feeling the air getting knocked out of her as she was tossed out at the other end, tumbling down stairs. She heard the sound of someone else coming out of the event horizon, then she felt the heavy weight of that person on top of her. Sam looked and saw Jack's apologetic face.

"Sorry," he said, moving off of her. He stood up, then helped Sam up. He then realized that the 'gate had disengaged and that Daniel and Teal'c weren't with them. "What the hell's going on?" he questioned, looking around. As he took in his surroundings, Jack began to feel a certain sense of deja vu.

"Sir, is it me or does this look like Altair?"

"No, it's not just you. And somehow I have the feeling that it doesn't just look like it, but it *is* Altair." Jack walked toward where he knew Harlen's console to be and found it, the same as the last time they had seen it. "Dammit! How the hell could this have happened? They were supposed to have buried the 'gate!"

"Sir, I think the more important question is, how did we end up here when we didn't dial in this address." Jack nodded, calming a bit.

"You're right. And if we were sent here, then where were Daniel and Teal'c sent?" By the look on Sam's face, Jack could tell she didn't like to contemplate this question, and neither did he. "Okay, let's put all that aside for now and get back home." O'Neill led the way back to the DHD.

Once back at the 'gate, Sam went over to the DHD and tried to input the proper address, but nothing happened.

"Captain?" Jack wondered, looking over his shoulder at her from in front of the DHD. Sam looked frustrated.

"I don't get it, nothing's lighting up," she commented, more to herself than to the colonel. She glanced at him. "They must have deactivated the DHD after we left."

"Can't you fix it?"

"I probably could, but it could take less time if we got one of our robot selves to help out." O'Neill nodded.

"Sounds like a plan. Let's go find 'em."

"What the hell is going on?" General Hammond questioned upon entering the control room. He had been briefed of the situation by his assistant, but he

still wanted to hear it from the technicians.

"Sir, the 'gate had been fixed as of 0700 hours this morning and SG1's mission was a go, but an unforeseen problem occurred at approximately 0905 after Capt. Carter had entered the wormhole. The iris closed and then the wormhole disengaged," Lt. Simmons explained. The general turned his attention to the younger man.

"What kind of 'unforeseen problem' is it?"

"The, uh, virus that Capt. Carter had purged from the system," Simmons replied, gulping, "well, it seems it didn't actually all get purged. It had left a part of itself in a subroutine, sir." Hammond let out a world-weary sigh. He definitely didn't like the sound of this.

"Can it be fixed?" he finally asked, hoping for a positive answer.

"I believe so, sir. We'll have to do a full shut down of the base's systems again, but it is possible."

"Just make sure it doesn't leave any more surprises for us again, alright lieutenant?" the general commented before he turned to go upstairs where Daniel and Teal'c were waiting.

The archaeologist was standing over by the window that looked down to the 'gate room, anxiously flicking a finger against the glass. The Jaffa sat at the conference table, waiting patiently for the general to inform them of what was happening.

"Dr. Jackson, Teal'c," Hammond said, gaining their immediate attention. Teal'c stood and Daniel met the general half way.

"General, do they know what's going on?" Hammond smiled paternally at the young man. The boy was so high strung as it was he didn't want to worry him any more.

"We've got it all figured out and they're fixing the problem as we speak. We'll be able to get a MALP through to the planet once we're sure everything is safe..."

"Well, if it'll be safe..." Daniel began, but General Hammond shook his head, knowing where Jackson was going.

"I'm sorry, doctor, but I will not risk any more of my people going through until we're absolutely certain. We already thought it was safe for personnel once," he reminded him. Daniel looked dejected, but he nodded in acceptance. "I'll keep you posted as I find out more. For now, just try to remain calm. I'm sure they're fine." With those final words, Hammond turned to go back downstairs.

"I hope you're right," Daniel responded, glancing at Teal'c who also looked a touch doubtful.

Jack let out a tired sigh. They had been searching for the past half hour throughout the complex and had found no one. He was starting to wonder if something hadn't happened to them all.

[Nice positive thinking there, O'Neill.]

"Sir, I think I heard something over here," Sam told him, pointing in the direction of one of the side rooms.

"Lead the way," he replied, sweeping his arm out. She walked toward the door and hit the opener. The door slowly slid open, sticking at a couple of points before continuing.

"Guess Harlen hasn't gotten around to fixing everything yet," Jack commented. Sam grinned at him, then turned to enter the room, O'Neill right behind her. Once inside, the door slid slowly shut and stuck, but finally it closed firmly shut behind them.

The two soldiers surveyed their surroundings. It looked like a foyer of sorts, no furniture, and one big window that looked into the main room. A window that currently showcased two *very* familiar people in the middle of having sex.

"Whoa!" both of them said, stepping back, banging into the wall. They turned at the same time, facing each other, then turning to the door. Jack was next to the opener so he whacked it, but nothing happened. He whacked it a couple more times and still nothing happened. Sam then made a couple of attempts, but still the door stayed closed.

"Does *nothing* work in this place?" he complained.

"I'll see if I can get it fixed," Sam said, taking her pack off and searching for her portable electronics equipment.

"Try to work fast, *please*."

***

"How's it coming, lieutenant?" General Hammond asked, trying to sound patient. It had been an hour since they had had to shut down to fix the problem, and during that time Dr. Jackson had been down to his office at least ten times. The general had decided to escape to the control room where he knew Jackson was less likely to come looking for him.

"With the help of Capt. Carter's previous work on this virus, we've isolated it and we're currently working on purging it. We've done a thorough sweep of the whole system and found a couple more remnants. We're working on getting rid of them as well, sir."

Hammond smiled, happy to hear *some* good news.

"Good work, lieutenant. I'm sure Capt. Carter would be proud." Simmons blushed.

"Thank you, sir," he said, then returned to his work once the general walked away, back to his office.

***

Carter leaned her head back against the wall she was sitting against, closing her eyes. She had looked into the opener, but could find nothing remotely like what she had ever worked on. After that discovery, the two soldiers had attempted to open the door manually, but it was far too heavy and wouldn't budge. So now they both sat, hoping that the two lovers would finish and be able to help them. It was certainly going to be an awkward meeting, that was for sure. Not that sitting here beside the man who was the double of the man who was making love to your double a mere fifteen feet away wasn't awkward.

Sam considered her last thought and found herself letting out a quiet laugh. [Say that three times fast,] she thought.

Jack looked at her as she laughed. "What's so funny?" he whispered. Sam opened her eyes, glancing at him.

"This whole situation," she informed him.

"You think sitting in a room waiting for two people to... be done is funny?" Sam began to giggle at his response and Jack gave her a look. She pursed her lips, trying not to laugh. She went to open her mouth to respond but stopped, feeling another giggle coming on. Jack shook his head, then lay his forehead against his curled up legs.

They were quiet for a while, then finally the other Sam and Jack reached climax, moaning as they had their release.

"Finally!" Jack exclaimed quietly. Carter and O'Neill sat silently a couple of minutes longer, waiting for their doubles to make some further indication that they were done. O'Neill became impatient as a few minutes more passed and they didn't seem to be moving, so he started to stand, but Carter caught his arm as she noticed something. He looked back at her, mildly annoyed.

"What?"

"Sir, they're, um..." She pointed in the direction of the window and Jack saw that his clone had begun thrusting into the other Sam once again. For a second, Jack found himself fascinated as he watched them caress each other as they thrust their hips together. It was actually rather erotic, in a kinky, fantasy sort of way. He felt his groin begin to ache, bringing him back to the reality of the situation. He looked down at 'his' Sam who still had her hand on his arm. She looked a little flushed, but that was understandable. He removed her hand, sitting back down. He held it briefly before letting it go, then he lay his head back down on his curled up legs. This was going to be one hell of a painful wait, he thought.

"Chevron five, encoded," Lt. Simmons' voice intoned over the loudspeaker. The technicians had been able to fix the problem in record time, much to the general's pleasure. Now he, Daniel, and Teal'c all stood in the control room, waiting for the MALP to go through and hopefully find their friends safe and sound.

"Chevron seven, encoded. Stargate is activated." A technician started the MALP on its ascent up the ramp and it disappeared into the wormhole. Everyone held their breath, waiting for the worst to happen. After a few seconds, the MALP had made it through and the 'gate was still active. Collectively they let out their breath, happy that things were going so well. So far.

"Anything, lieutenant?" Hammond asked, trying to get a look at what the MALP was seeing. All he could see was a few huts in the distance, but there was no sign of Carter or O'Neill.

"There's no sign of them, sir," Simmons said, repeating the general's thoughts.

"General, sir, request permission for Teal'c and I to go through," Daniel asked.

"Doctor, I already told you..."

"Please, general. The MALP went through fine and the 'gate is still active. And I have the utmost confidence that the technicians have everything fixed and safe for use by personnel." Hammond sighed. Jackson had that determined look on his face that assured the general that the doctor wouldn't give up until he had given in.

"Go ahead." Daniel practically leaped for joy at the general's response. He thanked the older man, then headed for the changeroom, Teal'c following.

[I swear someone's trying to see how horny they can get me,] Jack thought as the other two continued making love, for the fourth time. He heard Sam chuckling and he glanced at her. She was looking at him with an incredibly amused expression on her face.

"I just said that out loud, didn't I?" he asked, and she nodded. He closed his eyes, feeling embarrassed. "Note to self, keep your mouth shut." He heard Sam shuffle over closer to him.

"I don't know, I kinda like it with your mouth open," she told him, her tone light and flirtatious. His eyes snapped open to see her face inches away from his, her eyes full of mischief. Jack felt yet another ache in his groin. She was *not* helping matters by acting this way. Who was he kidding, she could be sitting across from him in the conference room talking about her latest theory and he'd still be feeling like this.

Sam gave him some 'relief' by shuffling back a bit, leaning sideways against the wall, continuing to face him.

"The Furlings certainly never put us through anything like this," she commented.

"Thank god," he responded, a little too vociferously. A smile crept across Sam's features at his response.

"Are you saying you'd have had a harder time... 'resisting temptation' if they had done something like this?" Jack kicked himself mentally. He'd just gone and given her more ammo. She had already been teasing him more than he had been able to tease her about what had gone on with the Furlings' experiment.

"I would have too," she told him before he had a chance to answer her. Her statement surprised him slightly and it showed. They both knew that they were attracted to each other, but he guessed that seeing two people who were basically *them* making love drove it home even harder. Because if those two were willing to let down their barriers...

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that," Sam said, turning away in embarrassment. She had figured that his continued quiet meant that he didn't actually agree with her assessment.

[Stupid, stupid, stupid,] she chastised herself. She then felt a hand on her shoulder, turning her to face him again. The expression on his face was nervous upon seeing the touch of regret on her face.

"I didn't disagree," he informed her, waiting to see what she would say, if anything. She smiled shyly at him and Jack felt his heart leap, happy that she did indeed feel the same.

Jack's hand slid down Sam's arm to pick up her hand, kissing it in a gentlemanly way. The breath caught in her throat as he turned her hand palm up, placing a kiss on her inner wrist. She lay her hand on his cheek, caressing it. He smiled contentedly at the touch, but he didn't make another move, so Sam decided to do so herself.

Sam pushed his legs straight, straddling him and sitting comfortably on his lap. The contact between them caused Jack to groan in need, making Sam smile. She met his lips part way as they leaned their heads toward each other. They kissed deeply, mouths opening and tongues dueling for control. Sam felt Jack's erection pressing into her and she instinctively rocked into him, eliciting a frustrated moan from the colonel.

They parted, breathing hard. He wanted so much to make love to her, but he knew the rules, as did she.

[Uh, Jack, hate to tell ya, but you've broken a few of those 'precious' rules already,] his inner voice reminded him.

"Too bad we can't do anything more than this," Sam commented, finding her voice moments before capturing his lips again in a passionate kiss.

[God, why are you torturing me so? Have I been *that* bad?] he complained. As she deepened the kiss, Jack soon enough forgot about his complaint and enjoyed what he could get.

***

Daniel and Teal'c walked down the ramp, disappointed and worried expressions on their faces.

"Did you find them?" General Hammond questioned, eager to get any information they could provide. The other two members of SG1 had been and returned from the planet Carter and O'Neill *should* have been sent to. The looks on their faces told everyone that that was not the case.

"They did not come through that Stargate," Teal'c informed the general.

"You're sure."

"We talked to some of the natives and there hasn't been anyone through for years," Daniel said, then added, "And Teal'c could find no trace of them either." Hammond tried to keep his face neutral and not show his own disappointment and worry.

"Where in the world could they be?" he wondered aloud.

***

Jack thought he was going to go crazy. Sam was still straddled across his lap, kissing him and grinding her pelvis into his. He felt he was coming to a point where he was going to throw her down on the floor and tear off her clothes, taking her right then and there.

As he had that thought, Sam pulled away, sliding back to straddle his knees. He was disappointed, but curious. Had she had enough? Changed her mind?

"Sam...?" he asked, keeping some semblance of control.

"Do you think we should stop?" she asked, her voice laced with passion and desire.

"Do you?" She shook her head negatively. "Me neither." After Jack's confirmation, Sam moved forward slightly and pulled out Jack's t-shirt. As she pushed it up, she kissed his stomach wetly, sending waves of pleasure down to his groin, making him moan. He felt her smile against his chest as she kissed her way up, finally pulling the t-shirt over his head, tossing it aside and meeting his lips with her own again.

They quickly dispensed with the rest of their clothing, their need having grown to a fever pitch. Sam lay back on the floor, smiling up at Jack as he leaned over her, his expression almost one of awe.

"You are more beautiful than I ever imagined."

"You've been imagining how I looked naked?" she teased.

"From day one," he replied, leaning down and tasting the skin at the base of her neck. Sam arched her back slightly as she felt him enter her, sighing as he moved his warm mouth from her neck to her left nipple. As he thrust slowly into her, he mimicked the action using his tongue and mouth over each nipple in turn.

Sam turned her head toward the window side momentarily. She was surprised to see her twin doing the same. The other Sam actually grinned at her, but soon enough she forgot about her double and looked back at Jack.

Sam let out a low moan as his thrusts picked up speed. She was getting close herself, so she wrapped her legs around him fully, bringing him a bit closer. Jack abandoned his exploration of her breasts, kissing her fully on the lips again, enjoying the feel and taste of her in their last moments before orgasm hit.

The intensity of orgasm ran through Sam's body, finally giving her release seconds before Jack buried himself fully within her, his own hitting. They stayed locked in a post-orgasmic embrace for a few minutes, not wanting to let go for fear of reality creeping in.

Jack kissed Sam softly on the lips, then pulled back to look at her.

"Are you...?"

"Okay? Yeah, I'm great," Sam replied, a smile playing on her lips. She ran her hands across his back and Jack felt a shiver run down his spine.

"If you're not careful I just may get used to this," he teased. Sam glanced quickly to the window then looked into Jack's eyes again.

"Do you have his stamina?" she taunted playfully. Jack turned his head to look and saw their doubles still entwined. He grinned as he looked back at Sam.

"On a good day," he replied, making her laugh, and he joined in. He soon took her into his embrace again, their lips meeting in passion and all else forgotten.

All the scientists they had available to them at the SGC were gathered in the conference room, arguing various points of time and space and other matters of physics that Daniel really had no interest in. He had only stayed there because he thought he might have gotten an idea from one of them or at the very least he would have heard some encouraging news from them, but no such luck.

He left the conference room, walking downstairs to the control room. Lt. Simmons was seated there, looking slightly depressed. Daniel felt for the kid. He knew not only did Graham have a crush on Sam, but he also looked up to her. He was sure right now Simmons was feeling like he had let Sam down. Hell, even he was feeling that he had let Sam and Jack down and there was nothing he could have known or done to prevent this from happening.

Daniel walked out of the control room and headed for the personnel quarters in search of Teal'c. He hadn't seen the Jaffa since they had gotten back from their search of the planet and he was beginning to worry about him. He knew that Teal'c was usually the type to keep his feelings in check, but he wasn't sure that this was such a good thing right now. But if he didn't want to let it out, if nothing else, it would make Daniel feel a little better if he could talk to someone who actually understood how he was feeling.

With these thoughts in mind, the archaeologist made his way through the corridors to Teal'c's quarters.

Daniel stopped in front of Teal'c's door, getting the smell of something burning. His worry jumped up several notches and he pushed the door open, entering to see several candles lit and Teal'c seated in the center of them in a state of meditation. To say he felt stupid would be putting it mildly. He felt even worse when Teal'c opened one eye, then both, looking at the younger man curiously.

"Is there news, DanielJackson?"

"Um, no, nothing yet. I... I just wanted to see if you were okay, is all, and I smelled burning, so..." He tried to speak, but he was becoming flustered. A hint of a smile appeared on Teal'c's face, surprising Daniel. This was definitely not the kind of reaction one normally expected from the Jaffa.

"You are feeling the weight of worry for our friends, are you not?" Daniel nodded, afraid to speak for fear he'd start babbling again. "Come, sit with me. I will teach you a meditation that will calm you." Daniel was taken aback momentarily, but took the invitation and joined Teal'c in the center of the candles.

Jack awoke slowly to the soft smell of his companion. He smiled at the memories of their lovemaking and cuddled into her more as he felt a slight chill, gaining a moan from her.

"You're awake?" she asked, her voice sleepy.

"Did I wake you?"

"Not really." They lay in silence for a minute.

"We should get dressed." Sam nodded reluctantly. She felt great for the first time in a long while, and going back home where there was the possibility she couldn't have this again made her feel a bit sad. Sure she'd have the memory, but it wasn't quite the same.

She sat up, finding her clothes and handing Jack his whenever she found some. As they dressed, Sam suddenly realized something.

"Where are the other two?" she asked, looking to the window and around the room to see if they were there. But they had left, and who knew when.

"They may be gone, but the door's open now," Jack replied, indicating with a nod of his head the opening where the door normally was.

They finished dressing without another word and made their way out, looking around more but finding no one still. They headed back to the Stargate, hoping that maybe they'd find someone, but no such luck.

"Well, maybe they're..." Jack started, leaning against the DHD. He stopped as he accidentally hit one of the symbols and it lit up, setting the 'gate in motion. "What the...?"

"It's working again," Sam stated, surprised. "Do you think they...?"

"I can't think of any other explanation," he answered. They waited for the symbol to wink out, and once it did, began dialling home. As the last symbol engaged and the wormhole formed, Sam let out a regretful sigh, gaining Jack's attention.

"Something wrong?" he asked, concerned. She looked at him, a sad little smile on her face.

"It's kind of too bad we have to go back," she told him. He moved toward her, holding her in a loose embrace.

"I have to admit, despite all the trouble of this place, I am going to miss it." He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips, the feel of it bittersweet. "Let's go home," he said quietly, the two soldiers disentangling from the embrace. Sam input the code and they walked into the event horizon together and seconds later it closed down.

***

"Do you think they'll be okay?" Sam's clone asked Jack's as they watched from above as the other two lovers embraced, sadness evident on both their

faces. Jack's double held Sam's close, nuzzling her neck.

"I think they'll be fine," he said as the two 'originals' walked through into the wormhole.

***

"Sir, incoming travellers!" Lt. Simmons exclaimed over the loudspeaker. General Hammond ran down the stairs, Daniel and Teal'c right behind him. They had all been up in the conference room, finally starting to think that they'd have to deal with the inevitable that Sam and Jack were gone.

The three men stopped behind the young lieutenant who eagerly informed them: "SG1's code has been identified!"

"Open the iris then!" Daniel urged, then, sheepishly, to the general, "Sorry, general." Hammond smiled.

"Your enthusiasm is understandable." They all watched as the iris opened achingly slow, then slammed into place within the 'gate. Seconds later the most wonderful sight that the SGC had seen in a while was that of Capt. Carter and Col. O'Neill stepping out of the wormhole and onto the ramp.

"Medical team to the 'gate room," the general announced over the loudspeaker. He turned to tell Dr. Jackson and Teal'c to go ahead, but he saw that they had already left and were at the opening door to the 'gate room along with the medical team. He wanted to hear what had happened to his two officers, but he figured it could wait until the rest of the team had had time to welcome them home.

***

"Jack, Sam! Are you okay?" Daniel questioned worriedly. The two soldiers looked at the archaeologist with calming expressions.

"Yes, Daniel, we're fine."

"Yeah Danny-boy, couldn't be better." Sam and Jack shared a quick soft smile before returning their attention to their friends as the medical team left, telling the two of them to come to the infirmary once they had been debriefed.

"We are glad to see you returned safely," Teal'c stated.

"Thanks, glad we made it back in one piece," Jack replied. They all started to walk out of the 'gate room.

"So what exactly happened? Where were you guys?" Sam and Jack glanced at each other, then back at Daniel and Teal'c.

"It's a long story. We'll fill you guys in during the debriefing," Sam responded semi-mysteriously, leaving the other two members of SG1 intrigued and eager for the story to come.

THE END

"Demons after money. Whatever happened to the still-beating heart of a virgin? No one has any standards any more."
--Giles, "Enemies"
