SG1 waved goodbye to their hosts on planet P4Z212 as the nomads made their way across the desert, away from their previous oasis home.
"Hard to believe that all humans used to be like that," Jack commented as the team turned in the direction of the Stargate to head to their own home.
"Things change," Daniel replied.
"Very deep," Jack said, his tone sarcastic. Daniel and Sam simply shook their heads at his response. Nothing much changed with that man, that was for sure.
No one said anything more for the next fifteen minutes as they walked to the deserted Stargate.
"Teal'c, how 'bout you dial us home this time," O'Neill suggested as they approached the 'gate area. Teal'c nodded in response and walked over to the DHD to input the necessary symbols. He hit the first symbol, but nothing happened. He tried again, but again, nothing happened. No noises, no sparks, simply silence.
"Something wrong, Teal'c?" Sam asked, walking up to him. Teal'c looked at the captain, mildly perplexed.
"I have attempted to input the symbols to dial us home, yet nothing is happening." At this point, Daniel and Jack had joined the other two.
"Whaddya mean 'nothing's happening'?"
"Just as I stated, O'Neill, nothing is happening when I attempt to input the symbols." The colonel sighed.
"Captain?" he hinted, looking at Carter. She took the hint and started to take apart the DHD to see if she could fix the problem.
***
"Damn, could this day get *any* hotter?" O'Neill complained for quite possibly the tenth time in the last ten minutes. Carter dutifully ignored him as she tried to figure out what the problem was with the DHD, and Teal'c had seemingly given up on replying to his now obviously rhetorical question, but Daniel was on the brink of yelling at him, or at least it seemed that way by the way he had closed his eyes and was holding the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger.
"Dammit!" Carter swore, finally getting frustrated with the DHD and throwing down a component. She walked away from it, rubbing the back of her neck with her hands. She turned back around, looking at her colleagues. She went to complain about the DHD, but then changed her mind when she saw how her teammates looked.
"Guys, you're starting to look a little overheated," she noted.
"And you're starting to act a little overheated," Jack responded, sarcasm tinging his tone once again. When Carter made a face at his response, O'Neill added, "You're right, we're all too hot. I think maybe it's time we put modesty aside and strip down."
This suggestion received everyone's immediate attention.
"Uh, Jack..."
"Sir..."
"O'Neill...?"
"I meant just enough to cool us down. We've got the sunblock with us to protect from the rays, right?" Everyone nodded in agreement. "So, let's get to it." The men removed their sweat-sticky t-shirts, and let out sighs of relief. Luckily they had already been wearing shorts for the mission, so at least they didn't have to find a way to rid themselves of pants.
Sam stood there watching her three teammates as they cleaned the sweat off their upper bodies with their removed t-shirts and started to apply the sunblock. If she wasn't their friend, she would certainly be enjoying this little... 'show'. Hell, who was she kidding, she *was* enjoying it!
"Hey Sam, you're still mightily overdressed," Jack teased, bringing Sam back to the situation at hand. If she didn't already look flushed they would have seen her turning red at his teasing.
"No, that's okay, I'll be fine."
"Sam, you're as warm as we are, if not more so for being inside that machine for the past hour. It's only sensible to, well, remove some clothing," Daniel urged. Sam sighed.
"Look, I said..."
"Do I have to make it an order?" Jack queried, using a commanding tone. "You're the one person who can most likely fix that thing, and I'm not about to have you pass out from heat exhaustion. And anyway, we're all friends here. Nothing to be shy about," he added, his tone softer. Carter chewed on the inside of her mouth, thinking over what the colonel had said. She knew they were all right. It was silly for her to suddenly become some sort of Victorian woman worried about her modesty.
"Okay, you guys win. But no comments or else this t-shirt goes back on." All three men nodded in agreement, then went back to applying their sunblock as Sam went to take her t-shirt off, like they were giving her some measure of privacy. She smiled. Sometimes she really underestimated these guys.
"Sam, do you... oh..." Daniel began, looking up as he finished using his sunblock. He was staring at Carter who had just peeled off her t-shirt and was now only wearing her shorts and a grey cotton sports bra. He tried not to gape, but he had never seen her be so... 'feminine' since Simarka. And she had been a *lot* more covered up then. Sam gave him a look that dared him to make a comment, but he couldn't find anything to say. But Jack certainly could.
"Whoa," came out of the colonel's mouth. Sam made a face and went to put the t-shirt back on, but Jack stopped her by saying, "You need to get some sunblock on before you get burned." He handed her his tube and she took it, thanking him, and started to apply it. The guys attempted to pretend not to be looking, but it was obvious to Sam that they were by the darting looks in her direction. Even Teal'c, who was normally rather stoic-looking, threw a couple of appreciative looks her way. She smiled to herself. Nice to know she was still attractive.
"Here you go, sir, I'm done." Sam held out the tube to Jack who took it, then she glanced over at Daniel who was looking at her back. "What?" she asked, a touch defensive.
"I think you missed a spot," he stated, pointing in the direction of where he was looking.
"Where?" Daniel walked over to her and gently poked with his index finger at the area he was referring to.
"Um, here. I'll take care of it, you can't reach it," he told her. He covered the area of her back using his own tube of sunblock. His hand lingered briefly on her back, then he pulled away. He let out a little cough. "Uh, there you go, all covered." Sam turned to face him, smiling.
"Thanks, Daniel. Time to get back to work," she told everyone and headed back over to the DHD. She found herself putting in a little extra sway to her hips as she walked, knowing that the guys were watching her. As she went back to work, she couldn't help a grin at the reaction of the men. This was definitely something she could tease them about for days to come.
***
[You've missed a spot... I'll take care of it... yeah, I'll bet you'd like to take care of a few things,] Jack thought irritably, sending shooting glares at Daniel. [And Teal'c... didn't say a word, but his looks certainly say enough. Can't *believe* those guys, they've got wives after all...]
[And that's supposed to stop them from looking, Jack?] he questioned himself.
[Shut up and let me be grumpy. She's not for them to look at like that.]
[So she's yours then, is she?] Jack made a face at this last thought. He knew what Sam's response to that would be. A right hook to the head. And then a thorough talking to.
Jack chuckled at the last bit, gaining curious looks from Daniel and Teal'c.
"What's so funny, Jack?" O'Neill shook his head.
"Nothin'. Guess the sun's just getting to me." Sam exited from underneath the DHD, standing up and brushing herself off, frustrated as ever.
"Any luck?" Daniel and Jack asked simultaneously.
"Does it look like it?" she asked, hitting one of the symbols with the base of her hand. Nothing happened. She walked over to the three men, sitting on her haunches in front of them. "I honestly have no clue what's wrong. And to be honest, I'm too hot right now to think straight. I think we should head back to the oasis and try again tomorrow." Jack nodded in agreement.
"Alright people, let's get going," the colonel ordered, standing and packing up whatever he had taken out of his pack. The other three followed suit and they made their way to the oasis.
***
"Oh, this is *much* better," Jack commented as they came under the cooling branches of the first trees in the oasis. His teammates made agreeing noises, almost as if they were too hot to actually say anything.
Once they had gone far enough in, they stopped, dropping their gear in the clearing that had once been the home of the nomads. Teal'c sat down carefully, Daniel more in a heap, and Jack with a bit of bounce. Sam let out a little laugh at the sight of the three men. Talk about a study in contrasts.
"Something funny, Sam?" Daniel queried, his eyes now closed as he relaxed in the coolness.
"Nothing important. I think I'm going to look for that pond they talked about. I could do with a bath," she replied, changing the topic.
"Have fun," Jack replied, waving at her as he lay back on the ground. Sam shook her head as she glanced at the men one last time before heading off in the direction the pond should be.
***
Sam luxuriated in the clear, warm, buoyant water. She had been surprised at how easily she floated in the water. Normally she had to paddle a bit to keep herself afloat, but there obviously was something here that allowed for greater buoyancy. If she had the inclination, and the right instruments, she'd like to find out. Maybe another time.
Carter heard a noise coming from the trees and worriedly turned herself in that direction. She didn't see anything and, after listening for another minute, she didn't hear anything either.
"Must be hearing things," she thought aloud. She allowed herself to float to the surface, lying on her back, like she had when she was a child. This was definitely turning out to be a better day than it had started.
***
Jack stood behind a tree trunk, his breathing heavy. Dammit, he had to go looking for her, didn't he. And he had to come upon her when she was still in the water, wearing nothing. And even from the distance he was at, the water didn't hide much. He should just go back to the clearing and not think about it, pretend like he saw nothing.
[Yeah, right, like you could ever put *that* image out of your head.] Jack sighed. He was overheated, he wasn't thinking straight...
[Face facts, you're a horny old man, O'Neill,] he chided himself silently. His traitorous body agreed with that thought. He knew he shouldn't be thinking of her in a sexual way, shouldn't look, shouldn't want to explore that beautifully formed body, but despite all the 'shouldn't's, he did think of her in that way, he did want to explore her, and he had looked, and was going to look again. He was only human after all.
[Nice rationalization.] Jack quietly moved around the trunk, trying to not be noticed as he went to watch her relaxing in the water. But instead of seeing her lazing about, she was looking directly at him, her right eyebrow cocked and her expression amused.
[Busted,] he thought, his expression mirroring the thought. Jack cleared his throat, trying not to look in her direction for too long as he attempted to explain why he was there.
"I, uh, was starting to wonder if you had gotten lost and I..."
"Are you coming in or are you going to stand there all night trying to come up with a good excuse for being here?" Sam teased. Jack could have sworn his jaw had hit the ground at her response. He wasn't entirely sure if he had heard her correctly or if this was all some product of his imagination.
"Sam...?" He let the question trail off as she swam towards the shore, towards *him*. She stopped and didn't leave the water, just floated there, so tantalizingly close in the dimming light.
She was taking one hell of a chance flirting to this degree with her commanding officer. She knew he could get her kicked out of the Stargate program with one word, yet she had a feeling he wouldn't do that, that somehow he wanted something more, just as she did.
"So, are you coming in? Or do you just prefer to watch?" There was that penetrating gaze he remembered from what seemed like ages ago, when they all had been 'touched'. Jack felt his heartrate jump drastically, and the need to touch her grew. "There's nothing to be shy about. We're friends after all, right?" Jack realized that she was using his own earlier words against him now, her expression turning mischievous. O'Neill found himself grinning, a chuckle escaping his lips.
"No, I guess there isn't anything to be shy about, us being friends and all." Carter smiled widely, making Jack feel as if he was the most important person in her world.
"So then, come in and cool off. It's wonderful in here," she prodded him, sounding like the 'old' Carter, the friend and colleague, innocently suggesting something nice to do, rather than the potential lover. Jack considered it, then decided that cleaning up a bit after the sweaty, hot day they had been through was a good idea.
"I'll wait 'til you're done," he replied, turning to give her privacy once again. Jack heard her laughter and couldn't help but turn to look at her again. "What's so funny?"
"I never realized until now how much you like following the military's rules." Jack's forehead creased into a frown.
"What do you mean by that?"
"You have it in your head that you can't join me here in the water, with nothing between us but water, because it's against the rules for us to fraternize in any way, shape or form." Jack knew that she was simply taunting him, but at the same time, he knew she was right. He was sticking to the military code, and rightly he should. But at this moment, thinking 'rightly' was losing out to giving into temptation.
"I just thought you might have wanted your privacy," he responded, testing her. She smiled.
"I would have told you to get lost instead of inviting you to join me, sir," she countered. They now shared a smile.
"Turn around," he told her and began to undo the button on his shorts. She did as he asked, then swam towards the center of the pond once again. Sam heard the splash of water soon after. She turned around once again and saw him swimming easily towards her. She admired the gracefulness of him, his perfectly proportioned body slicing through the water. Damn, what she wouldn't do to...
"Earth to Carter," Jack stated, waving a hand in front of her face, bringing her back to reality. In the time that she had been day-dreaming he had stopped in front of her and was now maybe a foot from her. Despite the growing darkness, the moons of this planet made sure that she could still make out his outline in the clear water. And that would mean he could most definitely check her out, which he seemed to be doing at the moment, but still tried to hide the fact that he was. She smiled, moving a little closer to him.
"Why colonel, I do believe you're looking at me in a most 'uncommanderly' manner," she drawled. He laughed.
"And I do believe you're behaving in a most 'unofficer-like' manner yourself," he threw back. Sam smiled teasingly, moving her arms almost as if she was going to embrace him. Jack felt his heartrate jump once again.
The next thing he knew, her hands were on top of his head and she pushed down with all her might, shoving him under the water. He was momentarily caught off guard, so she was able to keep him under briefly, but once he was fully under, he came back to himself.
[The little bugger!] he thought, pulling her hands away and resurfacing with a great deal of noise. He gasped in a deep breath. Jack looked at Sam who was now several feet away from him, giggling almost hysterically. He gave her a devilish grin and swam towards her.
"Ohnononononononononono..." she squealed as she swam away, but he quickly caught up with her and was able to stop her escape. He wrapped her in his arms, turning her to face him, and she squirmed, attempting to get away. Finally she stopped squirming when she realized that that wasn't going to help her any. She would have to find another way to make good her escape.
"So, are you going to mete out my punishm..." Sam was stopped mid-sentence by Jack firmly placing his lips on hers, and to her own surprise, she opened her mouth, inviting him to do the same, which he did. They tasted each other, their tongues fighting for control, until finally they pulled apart, feeling the need to breathe.
Neither of them said a word, not really sure what could be said. Sam leaned her forehead against Jack's, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of being so close to him and not feeling the eyes of the military staring at them. She felt Jack move, his lips kissing her eyelids, then her nose, then back to her mouth, which he met openly as she was ready for him. This time their hands explored as much as their mouths did, caressing and causing the water to move across their re-heated skin in a way that added to the friction they were already causing between themselves.
Jack broke the kiss, moving his lips to her right earlobe, nibbling and sucking on it. Sam moaned into his neck, then kissed it, then nipped it, causing Jack to protest.
"Ow! Careful!" She smiled mischievously.
"What can I say, you're just so... biteable." Jack chuckled.
"Try nibbling, leaves less marks," he suggested, making her laugh. He caught her in mid-laugh, kissing her again. Her caressing hands made their way between them, moving down his belly to his rock-hard erection. Jack whimpered slightly as she began to gently stroke it, speeding up and slowing down in an irregular manner. He was enjoying it immensely, and he wondered where in the hell she learned to do this. Not that he was about to ask her right now because that might take her concentration away from what she was doing, and that was the *last* thing he wanted.
It seemed like no time later she stopped what she was doing, pulling back from the kiss, making Jack wonder if she had changed her mind about what they were doing. What she said next put any such wonderings to rest.
"I want you inside me," she whispered, sending a pleasant shiver through his body.
"Should we...?" he asked, motioning towards the shore.
"I want you inside me," she repeated, "*now*." Jack licked his lips in a nervous gesture. Normally he would think it rather difficult to achieve what she wanted in the water, yet this pond *did* seem to keep them afloat quite well without them having to make much effort. He looked into her eyes and saw his own passion mirrored in them. It was then he decided to truly throw all caution to the wind and give into want he wanted, what they *both* wanted.
He moved one hand down to her well-rounded behind, pulling her towards him once again while the other hand found her cunt, gaining a gasp of surprise and pleasure from her as he caressed it. He continued exploring that region with his hand, wanting to be sure she was truly ready for him. Once her breathing became ragged and she almost seemed on the brink of pleading with him, he moved his hand away. Sam looked him in the eye, confused and a bit annoyed. Then she felt it. A gentle probing against her vagina, then finally, as he seemed to press his body up against her, a thrust in.
[When he gets to it, he gets to it,] she thought, mildly amused. All thought briefly left her as he began moving in and out, slowly building up speed. Sam moved her legs to encircle him, allowing for a better position. She continued to keep eye contact with him as they thrust together, then apart. She could tell he was getting close, but he was doing his best to hold off for her. What a change from her previous lovers, she thought.
As she felt herself building towards her climax, she closed her eyes, waiting for the feeling to wash over her. She felt Jack lean his head towards her ear, and he whispered, "Open your eyes, I want to see you come." She did as he asked, smiling at him, and he joined her in that smile.
Their thrusting speeded up, allowing them to reach their mutual climaxes, watching the other come, holding each other close as they came down at their own speed.
Sam moaned softly against Jack's shoulder, not resisting the urge to kiss it. Jack copied her by kissing her shoulder, making her giggle. He moved his head back to look at her curiously.
"What's so funny, Sam?"
"Nothing, nothing at all," she replied, kissing him on the mouth, making him forget about everything else for the moment.
***
"Now where could they have gone," Daniel wondered aloud as he made his way through the trees. He knew that Sam had gone in search of the pond, but that had been before he had fallen asleep. When he had woken up, Jack had disappeared and Sam wasn't back. He became worried that something had happened to them as darkness had made its way across the sky. He was about to suggest he and Teal'c go look for them when they were greeted by a new group of nomads.
It seemed that each group moved into another's area every new season. When Daniel explained to this new group why they were there and had not returned to their home, the nomad leader nodded in understanding. The older man told Daniel of how each leader who came to this particular oasis had control of a specific component of the DHD to ensure that not just anyone could use it and go through the 'gate. It was put on a chain around the leader's neck, and then buried in a specific place when the group was to move on, leaving it there for the next leader to dig up. Obviously the previous leader had neglected to mention this little fact to SG1. This new leader was quite happy to help them out, but they would wait 'til morning since his people needed to rest and ready their camp for this season.
So Daniel and Teal'c had left the nomads to their work as they went in search of their teammates. They had agreed to split up, allowing them to cover more ground, then meet up at the camp again once they were finished or had found the others.
Daniel heard laughter from the other side of the trees to his left. Maybe...?
The archaeologist made his way through the trees toward the sound. Finally he made it past the last tree and came out to a clearing of sorts. He looked to his right and saw a body of water, and the entwined bodies of his friends in the middle of it. Daniel took a step back, knowing he needed to get out of there, but something kept him there. Curiosity? Voyeurism? Who knew, but watching them together was like coming across a car accident, you couldn't look away.
He couldn't hear what they were saying, but he could make out their expressions. They certainly seemed the most relaxed he had ever seen them in the time he had known them. And the way they touched each other had a definite familiarity about it, as if this wasn't the first time they had been together. It kind of made sense to Daniel, especially since he had been wondering about the two of them for a while now.
Daniel began to move back into the trees as he saw them starting to move towards the shore. They'd be coming back to camp, and he certainly didn't want them to know he had seen them. If they wanted to tell him about their relationship, they would do it in their own time. After this final thought, he turned around and headed back to the clearing.
***
"So, do ya think they missed us?" Jack asked as he pulled on his shorts. Sam giggled.
"I'm surprised they didn't form a search party yet."
"Kinda tough to have a party with only two people."
"I don't know about that. Some two person parties can be quite fun," she replied, slipping her arms around his neck. Jack leaned forward, capturing her lips with his. He didn't want this to end, it had to be the most wonderful day he had had in a *very* long time. Even with the heat and the problem with the DHD, Sam had, yet again, made his day.
[Again, O'Neill? You're starting to sound like she means more to you...]
[She does mean a lot to me,] he thought, stopping the other thought from being fully 'voiced'. Jack looked into Sam's eyes as she pulled away from the kiss, her expression contented. He hadn't realized until this moment how much this woman meant to him. Despite how stubborn and argumentative she could be with him, he knew at the end of the day she *would* back him up and save his ass. She had proven that time and again.
"What's with the serious face?" she queried. He smiled, trying to seem less contemplative.
"Oh, just thinking about... stuff."
[Way to voice your feelings.]
Sam giggled at his response. "You're thinking too much col..."
"Why don't you call me Jack. I think we're *way* past you calling me 'colonel'," he interrupted.
"What about 'my colonel'?" she joked. He laughed.
"That's acceptable."
"Is this 'acceptable'?" she wondered, dipping her head and running her tongue up his neck. Jack let out a shuddering sigh, indicating that it was more than acceptable. Sam continued working her way down, taking her time at his nipples.
"Sam," he breathed out, "we really should..." O'Neill let out a very audible groan as she made it to his lower belly. "Oh, I knew that tongue of yours would good for something other than talking my ear off. Eh!" he yelped as he felt her nip him. He pulled her up. "What are you up to? I have a physical in a couple of days. What the hell is Doc going to say?" Sam laughed.
"I think she'll ask who's the lucky girl," she teased. Jack sighed. "Don't worry, I can tell her you're in *perfect* physical condition, at *peak* performance levels." It was Jack's turn to laugh.
"And how would you explain how you know *that*?" Sam simply smiled mischievously. "*Sam*," he warned.
"I promise, I'll be good," she told him, looking slightly penitent.
"That's my Sam," he stated, sharing a grin with her. He leaned in once again and kissed her. His hands wandered down her still naked body, caressing her soft, damp skin. He felt her hands removing his shorts and he stepped out of them as they fell to the ground. He knew that they should get back to the clearing, but his need to be with her again overshadowed any other thought.
***
"Colonel, captain, are you alright?" Teal'c asked worriedly as Jack and Sam appeared in the clearing.
[I'm sure they're *just* fine,] Daniel thought.
"Yeah guys, what happened to you?" Jack and Sam looked at each other, then back at their teammates.
"We ran into each other and started talking. We kinda lost track of time," Jack replied. He noticed how Daniel briefly seemed to look like he didn't believe a word he was saying, but then his expression became neutral.
"Well, we're just glad you're okay," he replied, smiling.
"So, what's with the newcomers?" Sam asked, pointing towards the new encampment of nomads. Daniel told them what the new nomad leader had told him, and Carter let out a groan of annoyance as he finished his story.
"You mean they had what we needed the *whole* time? Nice of them to mention this," she commented, her body tense.
"Hey, at least we know it wasn't anything you did wrong," Jack responded, squeezing her shoulder. She made a face at him, making him smile.
"Alright. Well, if they're going to help us in the morning, we might as well get some shut eye," O'Neill stated, heading towards their gear.
Everyone was set up in no time. Because of the humidity in the oasis air making it too warm to be fully-clothed, they had not bothered to put their shirts back on, and they all slept on top of their sleeping bags as well.
After a few minutes, when it sounded like the others were asleep, Jack moved his sleeping bag beside Sam's, spooning her and slipping his arms around her waist. Sam leaned back into him and placed her hands over his, falling asleep easily. Jack soon followed, with one final thought. This had been one hot day.
The End
