"Colonel O'Neill, Major Carter" Lt. Graham Simmons greeted them with a salute.
"Lieutenant" Jack nodded.
"Is something wrong, Lt. Simmons?" Sam asked curiously.
"I think so, ma'am. General Hammond is waiting for you above."
"Where above?"
"He got a call from NORAD, ma'am."
"This means trouble. Alright, Lieutenant. We will be right there."
"I have to escort you there, sir."
"I see" Jack stood up. " I guess we can forget about our lunch in peace, Major."
"Yes, sir" Sam sighed disappointed, then stood up and followed Graham out of the mess hall. "I hope this is really very important, Lt. Simmons."
"Sure, ma'am" Graham nodded.
"And what is it?" Jack asked impatiently.
"I'm not allowed to tell you the details, sir."
"Great" Jack sighed, then rolled his eyes, as he saw Graham's look at his Major." What can you tell us?" He asked as he stepped after them into the elevator.
"Only that this is very important and urgent."
"Urgent? That means trouble for us, Major."
"I agree, sir. Is the Earth somehow in danger, Lieutenant?"
"Not anymore, ma'am. At least...Sorry, I'm not allowed to share this information with you."
"For cryin' out loud, Lieutenant! This is a top secret facility, you can surely share confidental information with us here. If not here, where then?"
"Sorry, sir. I have my orders."
"And I think the lieutenant enjoys this enough to be punished" Jack whispered to Sam.
"What are you planning, sir?"
"I don't know now, but Lt.Graham Simmons will be punished."
"But why, sir?"
"Because you don't even give us a hint, Lieutenant!" Graham sighed, then casted a glance at Sam's face. He took deep breath and told them the news.
"A Goa'uld vessel was on it's way to Earth. It was destroyed and declared for a meteorite shower."
"Last night's meteorite shower?"
"Yes, ma'am" Graham nodded.
"We were so close to the end and we didn't even know about it. I think, I don't like this idea very much" Jack said quietly. Then saw the lieutenant's worried facial expression and grinned at him. "Don't worry, Lt. Simmons, we won't tell General Hammond. We will do surprised, won't we, Major?"
"Sure, sir! You have nothing to worry, Lt. Simmons." Graham only nodded thankful, then led them down the corridor, until they have reached a larger room. They steepped into the twilight room. Light came only from desklamps and from the huge monitor on the wall shimmering in blue. On the monitor a map was displayed. Sam noticeed the map, but wasn't able to determine the location. Jack was, it was the Iraq-Iran border area. General Hammond greeted them with a nod.
"Don't tell me I have to go there! Sir!"
"I tell you, Colonel O'Neill" came a voice from behind.
"Major Davis?" Jack was surprised.
"Lt. Colonel Davis, sir" Sam corrected him as the liaison of the Joint Chief Staffs came closer. " Congratulations on your promotion, Lt. Colonel."
"Well, thank you, Major."
"Do I really have to go there?" Jack interrupted their conversation.
"Yes, you have to" General Hammond gave him a silent warning not to object.
"With whom?"
"Alone" Lt. Colonel Davis replied.
"No way!" Sam shook her head. " I mean I wanna go with."
"Sure, Major. You're gonna fly him there."
"Fly? With what?"
"With a Stealth, Major" Lt.Colonel Davis turned back. He was reading a file, but now he examined Jack and Sam.
"We don't have any backups" Jack stated, not asked.
"Sorry, Colonel. But you know this is a secret operation and..."
"Yeah, too secret to tell me about!"
"I thought Lt. Simmons told you everything. I hoped so, Lieutenant."
"Sir you ordered me nothing to say" Graham looked at him confused.
"That's right. So how much do you know?" he turned back to Jack.
"That a Goa'uld ship headed towards Earth and was destroyed."
"Congratulations, Lieutenant, that is not much. So. A Death Glider was sighted, and it stranded there" he motioned with his left behind him, where the map was displayed.
"Near the border?"
"Far away enough from the border, Colonel O'Neill. At the Iranian side."
"That's good. I already know Iraqi prisons, now I can make aquiantance with Iranians."
"Cannot Teal'c come with us, sir?" Sam asked Gen. Hammond.
"I wish he could, Major. But it has to be get done right now. And as you know Teal'c is on P3X-797. It would be timewasting to send someone after him."
"I see, sir" Sam nodded disappointed.
"We can manage it, Major!" Jack said in a reassuring tone.
"Sure, sir" Sam was not convinced. " I mean we're alive although we know a Goa'uld prison from inside. It couldn't be worse." Jack had his doubts, but didn't speak it aloud.
"You have a go" Lt. Colonel Davis announced.
"Right now?"
"We dont't have no time to lose. We don't know who is in the Death Glider."
"It could be Master Bra'tac" Lt. Simmons guessed."
"Come on, Major" Jack turned to her after he has casted a quick glance at Graham. He then nodded to the general and he nodded back.
"Sir, I have a letter on my desk. Please, give it Daniel, if..."
"I will" General Hammond nodded. Sam knew about this letter. She wanted to be optimistic, but she had to leave a message, too.
"Please, say my Dad, that I love him" she said quietly.
"I will" the General nodded. He saw after them as they exited the room. He turned to Lt. Colonel Davis. His face darkened as he spoke.
"I hope, Lt.Colonel, that you are aware of the fact, that you hve just sent my two best officers for a sure death."
"It has to be this way."
"I know.... Do we have contct with them?"
"Yes, until they reach the Mediterranian Sea, yes."
"Call me if you have contact" he said, then turned to Lt.Simmons. " You go down, Lieutenant, and send me Dr Jackson up when he is back."
"Aye-aye, Sir!" he saluted. "Can I tell him?"
"I won't try to keep it secret from him" the General gave his permission with a slight smile on his lips.
"Don't worry, sir! I can fly this beauty" Sam reassured him, as she Jack frowning. She patted the Stealth tenderly and casted a broad smile at her CO.
"Oh, I have no doubt about that, Major. I was wondering what was your name during Desert Storm."
"It was Banana Split, sir"
"You are kidding, Major!" Jack looked at her grinning.
"Sure, sir. It was Daddy's Girl" she grinned back at him.
"No way! Major, should I make it an order?"
"No, sir!" she shook her head. " It was..."
"You have a go" a technician announced interrupting Sam's confession.
"Thank you" she nodded, then climbe into the cockpit. " Sir?" she looked down at Jack, who was still standing beside the plane.
"Will ya just tell me?"
"It was a simple code name, nothing special."
"Tell me!"
"It was Mantis."
"Why?"
"I don't know, a lieutenant of my unit gave me the name. You have to ask her." Jack climbed into the cockpit and laid back. He put on the helmet and switched on the intercom.
"We could start, if you are ready, Major."
"Sure" she noddded slightly and started the engines. It didn't take long and they was up in the sky.
"Janeway her is Kirk!"
"Kirk here is Janeway" Sam replied Lt.Col.Davis' calling.
"Where are you?" the General asked.
"Just left, sir" Sam answered. " Is Scotty there?" she giggled.
"Not yet. Have a good flight, Janeway. Kirk, over." Lt. Col. Davis said interrupting Sam's and Hammond's conversation.
"Roger, Kirk. Janeway, over."
"Janeway?" came Jack's query.
"Yes, sir. Lt.Simmons chose the names, sir."
"And what is Hammond's?"
"You don't wanna know, sir."
"I have to insist, Major."
"Spock." Jack grinned wild and couldn't hold back his laugh.
"And who is Scotty?" he then asked.
"Daniel."
"Graham is getting more and more impertinent!"
"You didn't even hear your name, sir!"
"Why? Is it that bad?"
"Umm...No, sir" Sam decided and answered giggling.
"What is it, Major?
"Seven of Nine."
"No way! Even he could not be such an impertinent! Or could he?"
"No, sir. It was only a joke. Yours is Chakotay."
"Oh" Jack was surprised totally. He thought Graham was falling for Sam.

They have refuelled over the Atlantic and again over Italy. Sam got aware of the serious nature of their mission over Israel. Sun was rising as she announced, that they have left Israel.
"We are leaving now Israel."
"Okay, Sam" Jack replied quietly.
"Maybe they don't see us."
"Dream on, Major" Jack said his tone very seriously.
"We have a very good flighter, sir."
"Sure, Major. And they have very good radars."
"We have an almost perfect R.C.M."
"You said yourself: almost." After 20 minutes in silence they reached the location. No other plane was sighted.
"Good landing, Major" he said as he climbed out.
"Thank you, sir.Where now?" "Ahead" he motioned with his left. " I wonder what we are gonna do if they or he is alive. Who is gonna stay behind?"
"The Death Glider..."
"Ya think I could fly it?" Jack lifted the binoculars to his eyes.
"I'm sure, sir!" Sam nodded her eyes resting on his face.
"And if it's broken down?" Jack turned into another direction.
"Be optimistic, sir!"
"That's Danny'ss job, Major. I'm Mr Glass-Half-Empty, you remember?" Sam didn't answer this statement. She was looking around nervously.
"I wonder, why don't we get company." Jack lowered the binoculars for a moment and looked at her amazed, with an expression on his face saying 'Who is the pessimistic here?' After a minute standing still, looking through the binoculars, he sighed aloud.
"Here is your company, Major. I hope, you are glad."
"Are they soldiers?"
"No" Jack shook his head. " As I can guess, they are natives. Too bad Daniel is not here."
"Maybe they know about the Death Glider."
"Yeah, sure. Okay, it's too late to take cover, they have seen us."
"Are they looking hostile?"
"No. And guess what, they have a woman with them. She wears some kind of fatigues."
"What???"
"You heard me well. She has a tattoo on her forehead.
"Like Teal'c?"
"Yeap. And there is the Death Glider, too."
"What can we do?"
"Waiting, Major." Sam looked at him surprised. Witing wasn't Jack's way to get things done.
"Waiting, sir?"
"Yes, nothing else jst waiting. We have got namely another visitors. And this time they are soldiers with a very wicked and evil facial expression.
"Sir, we gotta go away from here!"
"We have a task to fulfill, Sam. We cannot go away."
"It's suicide to stay."
"It has to be this way, Sam. I wanted to ask you something. Do you think someone dislikes us where the air is very thin?"
"It looks like that, sir"
"Call me Jack, please. After all these are our last hours."
"We have got zat guns,Jack."
"And they got Ak-47's and uzis. And... they out number us." Sam stayed still for a moment then pulled out her binoculars.
"Where is the Death Glider?" she asked astonished.
"Oh no!"
"Here comes the cavalary, sir!"
"I told you to call me Jack" he remembered her quietly.
"Sorry! We are gonna live,Jack! Please, be optimistic this time! Pleeease!" The Death Glider was hovering above them for a moment. Jack looked up and saw, that this spaceship was slightly different from what they knew. Sam noticed the diffrence too and now they were looking at each other in amazement.
"Let her do her job, and talk to her later" Jack said grinning at Sam. The pilot of the Death Glider turned to face the Iranian soldiers. The Death Glider flew over the heads of the Iranian soldiers and they got shocked. She fired at them once and twice, they have tried to shoot back, but for no good. She fired at them once again and made them withdraw. The jeeps left many dust behind them. Sam and Jack were still caughing as she landed the Death Glider and climbed out of it. She ran towards them and stopped only a few inches before them.
"My name is Tok'tac" she bowed her head.
"I'm Colonel Jack O'Neill and this is Major Samantha Carter."
"Bra'tac said, that you will come for me."
"Where is he?" Jack asked. Tok'tac's face darkened and one teardrop slid down on her ebony face. Her eyes were filled with sadness.
"There" she pointed towards the natives. " He is dead. I'm so sorry. He wanted to meet you. And Teal'c. He wanted to warn you."
"Warn us?"
"Sir, we have to go."
"One moment, Sam.Go ahead, please. Warn us from what?" he turned back to Tok'tac.
"There is a new System Lord gaining power, reinforcing his army. There are hundreds of Jaffas under his command."
"Who is it?"
"You don't know him. His name is Su. A very old Goa'uld."
"And you are?"
"A former Jaffa. I was the First Prime of Astarte. A lesser Goa'uld. Hathor killed her. Bra'tac had found me and brought me to Isis."
"Who is Isis?"
"Isis is Isis. Nobody knows her exactly. But I can tell you, she is one of the worst enemies of the Goa'uld. I was an operator of her on Apis' vessel. I was there to observe him and try to find out what he plans. Ha wanted to attack Earth, so i had to destroy his ship."
"Who is Apis?"
"Sir" Sam came back. " We have to go. They will be back with reinforcement."
"We're gonna trust you Tok'tac."
"I guess so. Teal'c knows me anyway. But he doesn't know I left Astarte. He thinks I was killed with her. Bra'tac didn't tell him."
"Why not?"
"I don't know. but he wanted me to come here and tell you about Su and Apis. He left a message for you. It was: I have to cross the bridge now."
"Okay, I'm gonna fly with you" Jack decided. " we can hold contact with Sam."
"Alright" Sam nodded. " Just please, let's go, I'm getting nervous here. I think they will send flighters too."
"Do we get any problems?"
"I guess so" Sam answered Tok'tac frankly. " Try to escape them. I don't wanna destroy them if it's not necessary. After all this is THEIR country."
"These people were very kind to me. I have to thank them."
"Tell them they should bury Bra'tac, if we can we'll come back for him."
"Thank you" she nodded and ran back to the beduins. After five minutes they were in the air again. Sam was getting more and more nervous. Until her radar showed five Bandits at eleven hour. She thanked God that Jack was sitting in the Death Glider. Jack took his look from Sam onlz for a minute and there she was away. Out of sight.
"Where is Sam?"
"She is a great pilot, O'Neill!"
"Call me Jack, please! Where is she?"
"Behind the enemy."
"You know what she wants?"
"Sure, Jack" she nodded. " She wants them to turn back, so we can escape."
"No!!!"
"That's her plan and I don't want to interfere. We are flying away as fast as possible."
"You are not gonna let her alone!" Jack cried.
"Let her do her job. She is making it well. This was her decision. She knows what she is doing. Trust her!"
"Oh, I trust her with my life. I just don't want her to risk her own."
"Let her do it. She is a great fighter. She court them and will finally eat them, as I can judge from her so far movements."
"We have got company, too" Jack stated as he looked out. In between he understood why they've called Sam 'Mantis'. Tok'tac escaped the Bandits really fast.
"Can I ask you something?"
"Sure, Jack"
"Have you got a symbiote?"
"Not anymore. One day I wanted to be free. Astarte was away. So i pulled out my symbiote and climbe into the sarcophagus.I was healed and I left the Goa'uld there. I wanted to escape, but Hathor came along and killed Astarte. She wanted me. I hid myself, but I had no chance. Bra'tac had found me and brought me to Isis."
"I see. That's why you sai you were a former Jaffa."
"Yes, and we have got company again."
"That's great!"
"Don't worry, Jack! This time I have enough time to activate my shield."
"What kind of shield?"
"It makes my ship invisible for a few seconds."
"This Isis, could he..."
"She!"
"Sorry. Could she turn to invisible?"
"Yes."
"Is she a Nox? Or a Tollan?"
"No" Tok'tac shook her head. " But they are her friends. The Asgard too."
"That's great! We have the same friends. And how didi Bra'tac meet Isis?"
"Bra'tac was recruited by Bastet."
"And she is?"
"Isis' First Commander."
"I see. I guess,Bastet is a she too."
"Yes."
"Does Isis have a husband, mate or something like that?"
"You wanna be her mate?"
"No, No!!! I was just curious."
"She had actually. Osiris was his mate. Ra and the others caught him and tortured him. Finally killed him, Isis gathered his body, because they had torn him apart in many pieces. She could revive him, but he lives now under another circumstances as we. They are only together for a few days in a year. Poor Isis!"
"And what is with Su? And are you sure Apis is dead?"
"I'm sure. I killed him myself. Su was the mate of Hathor. She held him in chains on an unknown place. After she was dead, Hathor's Second Prime freed him and he regained power in a very short time. He concluded alliance with Apis, so they had hundreds of Jaffas. He still has."
"I see. Does Isis use the Stargate?"
"Oh yes."
"So you could return to her."
"I wanted to staywith you and fight by your side."
"I don't mind,Tok'tac. But I have superiors who could."
"I could intermediate between you and Isis. She could be a great ally."
"I'm sure and I...SAM!!!"
"I'm back!" she cried overfilled with joy.
"Thank God! And never do it again! Ever!"
"I knew what I was doing, sir."
"I told you to call me Jack. Tok'tac said me the same. And in between I figure out why you were called 'Mantis'."
"Oh" Sam was surprised.
"Great tactic, Sam."
"Well, thank you, sir. Sorry, Jack.Is Tok'tac alright?"
"Thank you,Sam. I'm alright."
"We are gonna go home, Jack! In one piece. I guess we'll cause some disappointment for them."
"I guess, too" Jack grinned over at her.
"Sir" Jack greeted Gen. Hammond with a nod. The General examined him and Sam properly and then nodded back. Tok'tac bowed her head.
"General Hammond, sir, this is Tok'tac. She was in the Death Glider."
"Thank you, Major. I'm glad to make your aquaitance, Tok'tac. Please, take a seat. I'm calling Dr Jackson and Teal'c here and we can speak everything through...."
"Is Lt. Colonel Davis back to the D.C.?" Jack interrupted him
"He had to go back, yes. Tok'tac, please accept my deepest sympathy for Bra'tac's death. He was a great man and an excellent warriror."
"Thank you, General Hammond."
"Sir, can I talk to Teal'c for a minute. Private" asked Sam as they saw Daniel and Teal'c approaching.
"Sure, Major. We 'll wait for you here. Sam stepped out and bumped right into Teal'c.
"I have to talk to Teal'c. Daniel, you can go in." Teal'c looked at her with his usual stoic facial expression, but Sam knew better. She saw him into the eyes and placed her hand on Teal'c's arm.
"Is something wrong, Major Carter?"
"Yes, Teal'c" she nodded sadly.
"With O'Neill?"
"No" she shook her head. " With Bra'tac."
"Is he... dead?"
"Yes" Sam answered and felt the urgency to embrace the big Jaffa. She did it and it felt so good, so right. They stood there for a few moments, then finally Sam let off.
"General Hammond is waiting for us. We brought someone with us. She was with Bra'tac."
"Who is she?" Teal'c asked entering the office.
"It's me" came the quiet response from Tok'tac.
"Tok'tac??? You?! I thought..." Teal'c was speechless.
"I know, you thought I was dead."
"I thought you were killed with Astarte. Bra'tac didn't say anything about you. So I assumed you were dead."
"I left Astarte just before Hathor killed her. She wanted me, but Bra'tac brought me away."
"Why didn't he tell?" Teal'c looked at Jack with a questioning look in his eyes.
"I don't know. Maybe he wanted to keep it secret" Jack guessed.
"From me? General Hammond, this woman is my sister, sir."
"I know."
"How?" Jack asked totally surprised.
"They have the same facial expressions. And now, I think you have to go to Dr Fraiser. Debriefing is tommorrow at 9000." SG-1 escorted Tok'tac to the infirmary. Jack was still shocked.
"His sister! I cannot believe it! His sister!"
"Why didn't you tell us, Tok'tac?"
"I don't know, Sam. I was afraid."
"We are his best friends. You can trust us" Sam explained her.
"I do" Tok'tac nodded.
"Janet" Sam called after Dr Fraiser.
"Coming" came the response, and a few seconds later Janet entered the examination room. " Wow!" she stepped back as she saw Tok'tac.
"Is something wrong?" Tok'tac asked her confused.
"Nothing particularly. But I didn't know Teal'c has got a sister."
"How do you know?" Daniel asked.
"They have the same eyes and lips."
"But she is beautiful" Teal'c said proudly. Janet looked at him smiling and nodded in agreement.
"You are right, she is beautiful. Okay, we can do this alone. Thank you for your assistance so far. But she has to spend the night here anyway."
"Okay. Come on campers! Sam we have to write the report before debriefing. I guess some sleep would be useful."
"Good night, Tok'tac" Sam stepped out before Jack, who was hauling Daniel after him.
"Can I leave you here?"
"Why not? I' m an adult woman, Teal'c."
"I will take good care of her, Teal'c"
"Thank you Dr Fraiser! Good night, Tok'tac! Good night, Dr Fraiser!"
"Good night, Teal'c" they said in unison. After Teal'c had left Tok'tac sat down. She looked Janet deep into the eyes, then nodded knowingly.
"You love him" she stated, didn't ask.
"I... Yes" Janet smiled at her. " But I know he only loves Drey'auc."
"Bra'tac said, that Sam and Jack were in love with each other. But I don't see them to be intimate with each other."
"I guess, they love each other, but they cannot be together. Regulations in our army do not allow a partnership between two officers."
"Jaffa regulations say the same. Isis said these were not very smart regulations. She says it's against nature, then what if two soul mates are in the same army. She allows her guards to marry their teammates."
"This Isis is a very smart woman."
"She is a woman" Tok'tac smiled at her.
"And you? Do you have got a family?"
"I had only Bra'tac. But he is dead. And now I have Teal'c. I want to stay here, but Jack said his superiors would decide in this case."
"He was right. If they allow you, you can stay at my place" Janet offered.
"Thank you. Do you have a family?"
"I have a foster daughter. Her name is Cassandra, but everybody calls her Cassie. Do you wanna see a picture from her, while we are waiting for the blood test results?"
"Sure. How old is she?"
"Goin' on fifteen."
"What's about Daniel Jackson? Does he have a family?"
"Not anymore. His wife is dead."
"I see. He is still mourning."
"I guess so. Here is the picture."
"She is a very pretty girl."
"Yes. And I'm so proud of her. She is smart and kind, too."
"Why don't you have a husband?"
"I had one. We had parted a long time ago. And now I love your brother."
"Bra'tac said, that Rya'c is on a safe planet."
"Yes, they are in safety."
"Is it okay, if I go to sleep now? Suddenly I feel myself so tired."
"Certainly. You can choose one of the examination beds. Two guards are behind the doors. Until I have all the results you have to stay here. Certainly visitors are allowed." "Thank you." Janet went back to her office to wait there for the results. She was all tired, and she longed for Cassie's embrace and for a huge cup of coffee. But she had enough for tonight. Instead of the coffee, she decided for a walk on the corridors. As Janet stepped out of the infirmary she met a very excited Samantha Carter. Sam was out of breath, and at the sight of Janet she sighed with relief.
"What's wrong, Sam? Why aren't you sleeping?"
"I am... Nevermind. I was on the surface. The guards said me, that Teal'c left the base, too. He went up the hill, Janet. I found him, Janet. He is ... He is just lying there, almost not breathing. I was scared to hell, as I saw him there. You have to come with me! Please!"
"I don't know,Sam. Maybe he wants to be alone."
"I don't care! He can be alone in his quarter, not up on the hill."
"You have tried to speak to him?"
"Yes, but I guess, he didn't hear me."
"Is he in kelno-reem?"
"I don't think so. His eyes were open."
"Okay. Give me a minute, Tok'tac is sleeping someone has to be around." Sam nodded and waited there impatiently. Janet came back in a hurry, then followed Sam to the elevator. Sam still seemed to be scared.
"You care for him very much, don't you?"
"Is it a crime?" she asked offensive.
"No" she shook her head. " But I always thought, that you were in love with Jack."
"I don't wanna talk about this. I'm not in love with Teal'c, but I do love him."
"I see. Sorry."
"Nevermind. There is he" she showed towards the hill.
"On the top of the hill?"
"No. There is little clearing, about ten minutes from here. My favourite spot. I wanted to go there, to relax for a while."
"In the middle of the night?"
"Sure, what could happen?"
"Bigfoot could take you."
"Very funny, Janet. And now follow me!" After a ten minutees long walk they had arrived at thee clearing.
"Sam, you have to sleep!" Janet ended their argument with an order.
"And that's an order!"
"Okay" Sam gave in. " I will try to sleep, just, please, get him back to the SGC."
"I will try, Sam. And now go back to sleep." Sam turned back and went down. Janet looked after her for a few moments, then turned to Teal'c. She stood for a minute or so, quiet, then knelt down beside Teal'c.
"Teal'c?" she whispered. The Jaffa looked up at her and as he recognized her, he reached out his left hand. Janet placed her right in his left, and he led her hand to his chest. He placed it above his heart.
"I know" she whispered. " I know, Teal'c. But you are not alone. You have got Tok'tac, your family, your friends. I'm here, too."
"It hurts so much there, Janet."
"I know" she whispered, not showing her surprise for her own name from him. " He was like a father to you, I know. And I know, that he was very, very proud of you, proud of your choice."
"I hope so."
"I'm sure about this. You are fighting to free your people. Bra'tac was proud of this decision."
"He was old. I knew, this would come one day, but I was not prepared for this pain inside. It's a shame for a Jaffa to show himself this weak."
"It's no shame to mourn over a very good friend, a father. I know, you cannot cry, but you can mourn over him."
"Will you stay for a while, please?"
"I will" she whispered back.
"Janet..." Teal'c begun, but Janet interrupteed him in midsentence, and placed her indexfinger on his lips.
"Sssh! Don't say anything!" ahe bent down and kissed him. For her greatest surprise, he kissed back. Janet broke thee kiss and looked deep into his eyes. What she had found was enough. For tonight. Drey'auc crossed her mind, and she knew, that Teal'c would always only love her. This little happiness would hurt anybody. It's only for tonight, and there will be no second time. And Teal'c needs someone's closeness so desperatly. The loss of Bra'tac made him unsure and Janet hated to see him unsure. So she was willing to give him what he wanted, what he needed. And she decided not to be ashamed for her own happiness. She kissed him once again and let herself lose in his embrace.

Sam was heading towards her quarters as she caught sight of Jack walking down the corridor, in the direction of the Mess hall.
"Sir!" she called after him. " Jack!" she tried once again. Jack turned back and as he recognized her, he smiled at her. Sam smiled back and went to him.
"I cannot sleep" he announced.
"Me neither" Sam confessed smiling shyly. " Where were you going to?"
"To the Mess hall. I wanted a drink. Do you want to come with me?"
"Sure" she nodded, suddenly forgetting about Janet's order. " I was on the surface..." she begun to explain, but was interrupted.
"In the middle of the night?"
"What could happen? This is one of the best guarded facility of the USA."
"Bigfoot could take you."
"Janet said the same" Sam giggled.
"Do you want something to drink?"
"Orange juice, please." Jack came back approaching their table slowly. He placed thee juice before Sam, and sat down in front of her, caressing his whisky glass.
"No alcohol after midnight?" he asked grinning.
"Exactly" she nodded. " Makes me look older by five years next morning." Jack nodded and they sat there in silence for a while. Sam looked up then and met Jack's gaze.
"Jack, I have to tell you something."
"Me, too. But you first."
"As we were there and the Iranian soldiers arrived I was really scared."
"We were on the edge of death, Sam. It's no shame to be scared in that case."
"I wasn't scared because of the possibility of my death."
"Why then?"
"Because of yours" she whispered.
"Sam?" he asked her.
"Yes" she nodded lowering her head. She doesn't want to meet his gaze. She doesn't want to see rejecion in his eyes.
"Me, too, Sam" he confessed.
"Yes?" she looked up.
"Yes" he nodded seriously. Another two minutes passed by in silence as he took her hand and caressed it. She smiled at him, and he felt the world was in perfect trim once again.
"I like Tok'tac, but don't you think she is somewhat strange?" he changed the subject suddenly.
"Yes, there are some really interisting things I want to know" Sam was happy with their confessions. The next step can wait. After all she didn't know, what the next step should be.
"For example?"
"She knows our language very well, and she knows expressions, only we could know."
"Do you think she is a Troian Horse once again?"
"I don't think so. No" she shook her head. " But there is something strange with her."
"Okay. We have to go to sleep now. In the morning we can ask her out." Sam nodded in agreement and stood up to leave the Mess hall. Jack walked with her to her room.
"Goodnight, Jack"
"Goodnight, Sam" he looked around, then bent down and placed a slight kiss on her lips. " Sweet dreams, Sam" he said, then turned back and went to his quarters. Sam looked after him for a while, then went into her own room. General Hammond walked in into the debriefing room. SG-1, Tok'tac and Dr Frasier were waiting for him already. He had a worried look on his face.
"What's wrong?" Jack asked. " Bad news from Iran?"
"Fortunatly not. The M.A.L.P. spent the night off-world. The pictures are terribble. The whole place is burnt to ashes."
"Were there people?" Daniel asked.
"SG-5 and SG-11 are there to examine what remained. And now to our case. Dr Jackson?"
"I researched the names Sam and Jack had given me. Nothing unusual. Apis was an Egyptian God, he was depicted in the shape of a bull. Astarte or Istar was a Love Godess from ancient Babilonia and Phoenicia. And now to the interesting part: Su. Su is one of the eldest gods of the ancient Egypt. He was the God of the Air. In one version he was really the mate of Hathor. After she returned to his father, Ra they became mates. Hathor left Ra after an argument. Su was very powerful."
"He is powerful" Tok'tac corrected him. " He has got hundred of Jaffas under his command."
"And what about Isis?" Janet asked.
"Are you sure, that she is not a Goa'uld?" Daniel asked Tok'tac.
"I am pretty sure. Bra'tac was sure."
"Okay" Daniel nodded. " Isis was an Egyptian Godess. She had a mate: Osiris. The other gods caught him and tore him in pieces. Isis recollected the pieces and revived him. He rules over the other world. The people of Egypt loved Isis. She was very kind to them. Her cult spred over even the whole Mediterranium."
"Thank you, Dr Jackson."
"Yeah, thank you, Daniel" Jack grinned at him. And everybody knew what was that 'thank you' for. Everybody except Teal'c.
"What's wrong?"
"Jack thanked for the shortness of his lesson, Teal'c" Sam explained.
"I see" he gave Daniel a half smile.
"Can we go on?" General Hammond asked and after receiving a general nod of agreement, he turned to Tok'tac. " Tok'tac, please, tell us about Isis."
"As Daniel said, she is a very kind person. Nobody knows her exactly. Except maybe Bastet. She is her First Commandant. Bra'tac respected her very much. You could say, they were friends. They had planned an attack on Su and Apis. I was on his vessel for that purpose. Apis was about to attack Earth. I didn't even know, that Bra'tac was on the ship.I eliminated Apis and he destroyed the ship by throwing a bomb into the engine-house. We took a Death Glider and came to Earth. I didn't even noticed, that he was injured until he told me. On the way he told me about you and then died. This is all I can say."
"I see" General Hammond nodded. " Thank you."
"You said, you could contact Isis" Jack turned to Tok'tac.
"Yes, I can contact her."
"Can you take us to her?"
"This is not possible. I have to go first and speak to her. Do you want an alliance with Isis?"
"Does she want an alliance with us?" Jack asked back.
"I think so" Tok'tac nodded. " She heard from you. Bra'tac said her, that you could be a good ally against the Goa'uld and that you had contact to the Tok'ra."
"And Isis?"
"She doesn't have contact to them."
"They do not need allies" Sam said.
"You had concluded alliance with them."
"Personal factors played a big part in that" Jack explained her.
"I see. Do I have to contact her?"
"General?" Jack turned to his CO.
"I couldn't reach The President yet. For now you have to stay here, please. Is she alright, Dr Fraiser?"
"Yes, sir" Janet nodded.
"Good. Well, debriefing is over. You are dismissed." With this Hammond left the conference room. Only Teal'c wanted to leave, but Jack asked him to stay.
"What's wrong, O'Neill?"
"Something is fishy here" Jack answered. " Do NOT ask it, Teal'c! I meant, that something is not quite correct with your sister. I do trust her, but there is something strange. And I have no paranoia, Daniel. Sam has the same opinion, right?"
"Right" she nodded. Tok'tac smiled at them mysteriously.
"He said, that you would notice" she said still smiling.
"Who is he?"
"Robert."
"Colonel Robert Makepeace?" Jack asked shocked.
"Yes. He tought me your language and some of your customs."
"Robert Makepeace?"
"Yes" she nodded smiling.
"But..." Jack begun, but was interrupted by the intercom.
"SG-1 to the gate room!" came the voice of a very excited Lt. Graham Simmons.
"Tok'tac, you can come with us" Sam said, then followed Jack out of the conference room. General Hammond was waiting for them with Dr Warren on his side. SG-6 stood at the foot of the ramp, ready to go.
"What's wrong?" Sam asked the general.
"SG-5 and 11 are in trouble. SG-6 is going with you. I 've reached The President. Tok'tac, you can go to Isis, but you have to take someone with you. You can choose one of the members of SG-1. Please, not Teal'c, we need him in this battle."
"I choose Sam. Isis likes female soldiers. And Janet."
"She..."
"General, please" Janet begged him.
"It's okay with me, if Dr Warren is willing to..."
"He is" Dr Warren interrupted him in midsentence.
"Then you have a go. Certainly only after SG-1 and 6 went through the Gate."
"I'm sorry, Sam" Tok'tac said, after SG-1 left the Gate room to change and their weapons. General Hammond walked to SG-6. The three women stood there alone. " I know, you would like to go with them, but Isis likes women better than men."
"I see your point, but..."
"I know. I hope they will return home safe and sound."
"This is only an in-between stop. They will report Isis, that I'm here with you, and she will decide if she receives us or not" Tok'tac explained for Sam and Janet.
After a fifteen minutes long wait a woman appeared through the Gate. She was tall, with black eyes and deep blue hair.
"She is Bastet, Isis is waiting for us" Tok'tac turned back, after she spoke with Bastet. Sam and Janet looked at the beautiful woman and she looked back at them. Kindred spirits recognized each other. They gated to another planet Tok'tac seemingly knew very well.
"This is the home planet of Isis. It is a great honour to be here."
"It's wonderful" Janet whispered to Sam and shee nodded in agreement.
"Daniel's heart will break when I'll tell him about this place."
"Bastet says, that Isis is not alone. We have to wait here for a while."
"No problem, we will wait. This is a wonderful city."
"Isn't it?" Tok'tac asked smiling. "I was very glad here."
"You could stay here" Sam suggested.
"Sure, but I want to fight by your side. And I want to be near to my brother. He is my only remaining relative at all. You know, I didn't even know Rya'c and Drey'auc.
"Bastet is a beautiful woman" Sam said after seeing Janet's face darkening.
"Yes, she is. But she is very unhappy."
"Why?"
"Because she had lost her mate a long time ago."
"And why is she alone? Can she only have one mate?"
"No" Tok''tac shook her head. " But she didn't find a new mate.I guess so."
"What if she had found it, only they cannot be together?" Basteet joined their conversation.
"Sorry" Tok'tac smiled at her regretfully.
"Nevermind. Isis is waiting for you."
"I thought it would take mor time. The Head of the Great Council never left after ten minutes."
"Isis sent him away. I can tell you, he is absoloutly annoying and boring. Please, follow me!" They stepped into the audience chamber. It was an attrium-like room. And everything was simply stunning, as Janet told Daniel later. The chamber shone in gold and silver. In the centre there was a throne made of gold and of an unknown metal. Sam never saw something like that. Thee colour of this metal was magenta and it seemed to be a very solid substance. On the throne sat Isis. She was extraordinary, as Sam told Daniel later. She was a woman of a small stature. She was even smaller than Janet. Her skin was very pale and her eyes were bright. The colour of her eyes was a deep shade of violet. Her hair came to her shoulders and was carnation pink in colour. Her toga-like dress reached to her ankles. The dress she wore was hold together wih only one fibula over her left shoulder. But it was a masterpiece. As Isis stood up to welcome them, the sun shone through the ceiling and fell upon her dress. Suddenly it shone in all of the colours of a rainbow.
"Welcome to my home, Tauri!" Isis greeted them smiling. Her voice was deep and rich.
"It is a great honour for us" Sam bowed her head and Janet did the same.
"Tok'tac, where is Bra'tac?"
"He is dead" Tok'tac lowered her head, as she quietly answered the question. Isis swallowed the information, then came to Tok'tac and pulled her in her embrace.
"I'm so sorry, dear Tok'tac. I know he was like a father to you."
"Yes. We destroyed Apis' vessel."
"I know about this. My operators are amongst the Jaffa of Su" she explained to Sam and Janet. " You have to be Samantha Carter. Bra'tac told me a lot of you."
"He never told us about you" Sam said frankly.
"I was not sure if I should conclude an alliance with you. I would like to meet the Tok'ra."
"I don't know their intentions, but they are not looking for an ally."
"I like her straightness" Isis stated smiling at Bastet.
"Do you want an alliance with Earth? " Sam asked her.
"I don't know. In Bra'tac I had lost a great advisor and a dear friend. I had observed you whenever you met one of my friends. I like you, but I also know, that I can only trust you. Tonani said, that I should only trust you and your team."
"Sure there are bad and stupid people, but we and personally Colonel Jack O'Neill will be willing to guarantee, that your choice was right. We need this alliance, if Tok'tac was right about Su's intentions."
"Su is unpredictable. But one thing is sure: Sooner or later he will attack your planet. You had eliminated his friend, Ra and his mate, Hathor. Sure she held him as a prisoner, but he loved her. Now all his hatred is directed against you."
"When could you give us the answer if you will the alliance or not?" Sam asked.
" In a week of your time computation. Tok'tac, what about you? Do you want to stay with them?"
"Yes" she nodded. " Teal'c is there and..."
"I know, I know: you prefer fighting. Then we should meet in a week. Bastet will be waiting for you on the same planet" with this she disappeared.
"Wow!" was all Janet could say. " A very impressive leave."
"Okay, we should go home" Sam said and asked Bastet to escort them to the Stargate. They left after saying good-bye.
On the other side General Hammond was waiting for them in the gate room. He seemed to be impatient, and Sam knew something went wrong with SG-1 and the others.
"They have been taken prisoner" he greeted them.
"Who?"
"All four teams. And I cannot send another team to free them..."
"You don't have to" Sam interrupted him in midsentence. " We will go."
"But..."
"We are no other team. Let us go, please" Janet asked him.
"You wanna go, too?"
"Yes" she nodded sincerely.
"And you, Tok'tac?"
"I only need my staff weapon and I'm ready to go" was all she said.
"First goes the M.A.L.P." General Hammond said and then gave the sign for Sgt. Siler. The M.A.L.P. went through and after its arrival it sent back pictures of a peaceful planet.
"There are no guards posted around the Stargate" Sam stated, little surprised.
"You have a go, Major Carter. I wish you success. Come home safe and sound and bring back my soldiers, if possible in one piece!"
"We'll try, Sir!" Sam nodded, then stepped after Janet through the gate. Tok'tac looked around carefully, but she saw no movements.
"Do you know this planet, Tok'tac?" Janet asked her.
"No" she shook her head. " But we have to be aaware. There aree no guards, that means they outnumber us heavily."
"There is a little path over there" Sam pointed to east. Tok'tac went there and bent down to take a closer look. After examining the traces, she stood up.
"Thesee are the footprints of our troops."
"Then we should follow this path" Sam suggested and took point. Janet's voice made her stop.
"What do you want to do, if you find them?"
"Free them" Sam replied smiling."
"This plan's gorgeousness lies in its simplicity, doesn't it?" she whispered to Tok'tac. But Sam heard her sarcastic words.
"We don't know where they are, even not if they are together. I'll make a plan, after I would find them."
" Alright, then let's follow this path" Janet looked at Tok'tac, who nodded in agreement. There was no doubt anymore, Sam was the leader of their little team. It began to rain. After a ten minutes long walk in the heavy rain, they had reached a town. On the skirts of the city stood a huge building, surrounded by Jaffa guards.
"That's what we are looking for" Sam whispered to her companions.
"Can we reach thee prison?I mean, without taken prisoner?" Janet asked.
"I think, yes" Tok'tac looked around.
"Lead us" Sam motioned forward with her head. They have followed Tok'tac and she led them safe to the prison. I front of the building there were sis Jaffas posted, at the back only three. Tok'tac crawled to one to get his weapon. She took the staff weapon and handed Janet and Sam each a zat gun. The other two guards were at the far side and because of thee rainshower theey didn't see anything.
"This was one of Su's guards" Tok'tac whispred to Sam.
"This is not good" Janet summoned their thoughts.
"But Su is not here."
"How do you know?"
"He would let the gate be guarded."
"I see" Sam nodded. " I have seen a window. Maybe they are in that room. Janet you climb upon our shoulders and report what you could see." "Alright" Janet said and then climbed upon theeir shouldeers. After her eyes adjusted themselves to the darkness, she could see fifteen bodies lying around in thee room. She climbed down and shot. The Jaffa made no movement anymore.
"We saw him coming, but thank you,Janet."
"They are in there. What do you wanrt to do now?"
"Her is my plan. Obviously they cannot climb out of the window..."
"It's to narrow for a man. Even for you."
"But not for you. So you climb in and them to get thee weapons we reach up."
"What kind of weapons?"
"We will take away them from thee guards."
"Are you sure, that this is good plan?"
"Do you have a better?" Sam asked back.
"No."
"Okay. Your zat, you can take it with you. At least you have one weapon. I'm sure inside of the prison there are plenty of Jaffas. So if my plan works, you will have weapons inside and we will have weapons outside."
"But Sam..."
"You know I'm able to make it soundless."
"I know about your Level 3 whatever."
"Trust me! We can be in touch with each other through our communicators."
"Okay, then lift me up, please!" Janet stood upon the shoulders of Sam and Tok'tac again. She leaned in.
"Ssssh! Would you be so kind to catch me?" Jack lifted his head in the direction of the window, but saw Janet's face not.
"Who is it?" not daring to trust his ears.
"Michael Jackson. Don't be stupid, Jack! It's me Janet!"
"Teal'c, go and catch her" Jack turned left where Teal' was sitting. But Teal'c was already there. She climbed in and let herself fall knowing, that he will catch her 100% sure.
"Thank you" she whispered, then wanted to go to Jack. Suddenly a guard poked his head in. Teal'c covered Janet, and Jack and Daniel stood in front of him heavily discussing something. The guard looked around, then shut the door again. Daniel sighed with relief.
"What are you doing here?" Jack asked her.
"I'm here with Sam and Tok'tac. We are gonna free you."
"How?" Daniel asked.
"This way" she pointed towards the window, where an unidentifiable object could be seen.
"These are our weapons. Please, Teal'c, lift me up!" Teal'c let her climb upon his shoulders so Janet could reach the window. She got Sam's jacket full of zat guns. And then she felt thee staff weapon, on what Sam's jacket was, rise a bit. She reached out and was confronteed with difficulties. The satff weapon was long and first of all way too heavy for Janet. Suddenly with a last great effort she could finally manage to pull in the staff weapon. She handed it Teal'c and then climbed off.
"Okay, what's the plan?" Jack asked her.
"Would you like to talk to Sam? " Janet reached him her communicator and casted at him a knowingly smile. Jack looked at her grinning, then switched on thee communicator.
"It's me, Sam. Can you hear me?"
"Sure, Jack. Is everything alright with you?"
"Everything is okay. But I think Janet is getting a little bit impertinent."
"Hey, we have no time for small talk!" Sam could hear Daniel's voice.
"You know, maybe he is right this time" she said giggling alittle bit. This giggling made Jack's heart jump.
"Okay, Sam. Give us a sign if you are in."
"Alright. Janeway, roger and over ."
"Chakotay, over and out" Jack replied, then switched off the communicator.
"General Hammond, I think we have a better chance, when only me and Dr Jackson go to Chulak."
"But, sir...!" came the protest from Sam and Jack at the very same moment.
"Sir" Tok'tac interrupted them. " I do not go to a hostile planet with them!" she looked at them, then turned her face to General Hammond.
"Why not?" Jack asked.
"And why with Daniel?" Sam asked.
"Because he hasn't got scars all over her body" she looked Sam up and down. " And he hasn't got second-degree burnings on his arms" she looked at Jack. " And because he speaks our language." And the discussion was over. The last fact was not to discuss further, and Tok'tac knew it and truly enjoyed it.
"You have a go, Tok'tac. Colonel, Major, you go back to the infirmary. At once! And I don't wanna see you at least for 12 hours. Do you need something special, Tok'tac?"
"No, sir" she shook her head. " only the pictures from the M.A.L.P."
"Alright then. Colonel, Major, it was an order!" Jack and Sam gave Tok'tac a hurted look, while they were walking out of the confrence room. The General followed them to give the instructions for Sgt. Siler. Tok'tac and Daniel remained.
"Sorry, dr Jackson" she lowered her head. " I didn't even ask you, if..."
"I go" Daniel nodded. "But I cannot shoot with the staff weapon."
"And you don't have to. I'll bring my staff weapon, you will only have a zat gun. I think, you could play a Jaffa priest and I will be your guard. We will say, if someone asks us, that you bring the larva's for the guards of Su's new queen. And you don't wear a tattoo on your forehead, because she still has to decide her sign. "
"What's her name?"
"Heket."
"Who is she?"
"A very young Goa'uld. Her mother was Hathor."
"I see" Daniel nodded.
"Don't worry, Dr Jackson, I'll bring you back home safe and sound."
"How did he get there?"
"You mean Robert to Isis?" she smiled at him.
"Yes" Daniel nodded.
"I don't know. That's their secret. They had an agreement. And after Robert had fulfilled his task, he left. I don't know, where he is right now."
"Were you in love with him?"
"I don't think, that's your business" she said indignantly.
"Sorry, I didn't wanna be so rude. You know, I' m a very curious man. Jack always reminds me to keep my mouth. Sorry, Tok'tac."
"I know, that he was a traitor. He told me everything about his shame. But I do respect him, because Isis respected him."
"I see." Lt. Grham Simmons entered the conference room.
"You have a go."
"Thank you, Lt. Simmons."
******
"Why are you here?" Janet asked them.
"General Hammond ordered us back to the infirmary" Sam explained her.
"You don't have to be here. Go and rest in your quarters! Jack, come back in six hours to change you bandages."
"How is he?" Jack asked. Janet only shook her head and suddenly she seemed to be on the verge of tears. Sam went to her and hugged her tight.
"You have to rest, too."
"I will rest here. I'll wait for Tok'tac here. Is she going alone?"
"No" Jack shook his head. " Daniel is going with her."
"I see. Go to rest!" she told them, then turned back to Teal'c's bed. She bent down and caressed his face.
"Please, hold on!" she whispered." Please, Teal'c, don't do this to me! Just hold on, please!" Sam took Jack by his hand and led him out of the infirmary.
"We have to talk, Sam."
"I know, Jack. But for now, I'm too tired."
"I know, sweetheart, I know" he whispered, then followed her to their quarters. He wnt in with her and tucked her in. He bent over her and placed a light kiss on her lips.
"Wake me up, if anything happens" Sam whispered, knowing Jack wouldn't sleep, until Teal'c is better.
"I'll pick you up, after I'm back from the infirmary" he promised.
"Alright" she murmured eyes already closed. Jack went to his quarter and thought everything over. Fortunatly no one was killed, but Teal'c...
~...~
"It was too easy" Janet whispered to Teal'c, after they left the prison. Teal'c only nodded in agreement.
"Janet, be a bit more optimistic!" Daniel whispered to her.
"Why not?" she asked back sarcastially. And there they were. A patrolling Jaffa unit. They seemed to be appeared out of nowhere.
"Head to the gate!" Jack ordered them and they ran as fast as they could. SG-6, Teal'c, Jack and Tok'tac were covering their withdrawal. Jack was first hit by an energy blast from a staff weapon. Sam helped him up and stayed with him. Suddenly a hand grenade exploded not far from them. Sam got some splinter in her arms and back.
"It was on of ours!" she yelled to Major Bond. The CO of SG-6 nodded:
"They had confiscated our weapons. I guess they somehow figured out how they work. Are you alright?"
"Not quiet" Sam confessed.
"Dr Jackson is already dialling us home. Hurry up!" And then Teal'c was hit by an energy blast. There was a little hole on his shoulder. He was already in front of the Stargate. Everyone was waiting for Daniel, who was already busy with his GDO.
"Let me here, O'Neill. I could..."
"No" Jack yelled back and then ran to him. " Come on!"
"My Goa'uld is dead. A splinter killed him, I cannot survive!"
"You are coming with us or we stay here, too. Do you want Dr Fraiser to stay here?" he looked into his eyes. " Or Major Carter?"
"No" he shook his head and with the help of Major Bond and Jack he stepped through the gate.
"Close the iris!" Jack yelled, then fainted. The medical units were already there. General Hammond looked around and prayed for help against Su.
~...~
"Robert is here" Bastet announced.
"I thought, I have to stay in there for a while."
"Tok'tac was here. She is alive. Bra'tac is dead. She is on Earth with your friends."
"I don't think, they see me as a friend."
"I know. They will be back next week. I have to talk to you."
"And then?"
"The choice is yours. You were two years there."
"That's not quiet right."
"They don' t have to know it this exactly."
"I don't wanna lie to them again."
"You were a captive here, too."
"That's right."
"Alright then. You'll decide. But I can say, Tok'tac wanna stay there."
"Why?"
"Teal'c is there. And she has got friends."
"Sam and Janet."
"Samantha Carter was here, too."
"I knew, you would like her. And you would like Jack, too."
"I have to think it over. Come and help me!"
******
"Run, Daniel, run!" Tok'tac shouted. " Don't worry about me! RUN!" Daniel looked at Tok'tac, then down at his hands, where the little container was. He nodded and ran through the forest in the direction of the Stargate. Tok'tac somehow managed, that the Jaffas thought both of them were still there. Daniel looked back, but couldn't see her. Her wish was to save Teal'c, but - Daniel mused while running - what if she dies, and Teal'c will live. He would say nothing, Daniel knew this for sure, no, he would say nothing, but only look. And Daniel could imagine, that that look could make him go insane. He reached the immediate gate area, but there were four Jaffas patrolling around. To neutraliye the first two was easy. He crawled to the next bush and managed to fire his zat gun once again. Now it was one to one. But the Jaffa had a staff weapon and was out of range. Daniel carefully placedd the container on thee ground and stepped forward, out of the bush. Tha Jaffa fired and Daniel jumped. While landing in the next bush he fired his zat gun and hit the Jaffa. With the container he hurrieed to thee Stargate and dialled home. He gave in their identification number and waited for the required time. Then he sent through the container. careefully wrapped up in his jacket. After the gate was closed, he headed back, where he left Tok'tac. He found her under heavy fire. He surprised them by firing from behind. With Daniel's help, Tok'tac could free herself and they ran back to thee gate. While two Jaffas were following them and one went back to bring reinforcement.
"Dial home, I will try to hold them up!" she said while running. Daniel smashed in the symbols, looking back every now and then. With horror he noticed the reinforcement. soon they were surrounded by moree then 20 Jaffas.
"Hurry up, Daniel!" Tok'tac said as the gate was open. He was giving in the ID number on the GDO as Tok'tac was hit by an energy blast from a staff weapon.
"Medical unit to the gate room!" General Hammond ordered as he saw them emerging from event horizon. Daniel triumphantly showed up the container, theen hurried to the infirmary. On Level 23 was still everything all peaceful. Daniel saw Tok'tac being brought in the ex-room, as he stepped in, where Teal'c was lying.
"Daniel!" Janet looked up. She was sitting beside Teal'c's bed.
"You seem to be tired, Janet" he handed her the container.
"Two larvas?"
"It was Tok'tac's idea."
"I see. Where is she now?"
"She was hit by a staff weapon. I go and see after her."
"Alright. And go to Jack. He surely wants to see you."
"Alright" Daniel nodded. Janet ordered two nurses to help her.As Daniel exited the room, she was about to lift out the larval Goa'uld. Daniel saw enough. He tried to find out what's with Tok'tac, but no one was willing th share this particular information with him. He reluctantly left the infirmary and went to jack's quarter.
"Come in!" came thee response at his knocking.
"It's me" he said, as he walked in.
"Daniel!" Jack lept up from his chair. " Are you alright?"
"I guess so. Tok'tac is injured, Jack. and they say me nothing about her condition" he complained.
"We wake Sam up, and then I will make sure that they tell us, how she is. And now, tell me everything."
××××××
SG-1 stepped through the event horizon. Sam was the last one. She looked back at Janet and General Hammond, who were standing in thee control room. About one hour ago she solemnly promised Janet to keep eye on Teal'c. Bastet was waiting for them.
"Where is Tok'tac?"
"She is injured and unable for gatee travelling" Jack said.
"I'm sorry, but I can only bring you to Isis, when Tok'tac is here."
"Then, please, tell Isis, that we will be back next week. Maybe she will be right next week."
"Alright. See you next week" with this she disappeared.
"Sam, Tok'tac lies in coma!" Jack turned to her.
"I know, Jack. But we don't know, when she will wake up. Maybe she is waking up in this moment." Jack looked at her, then at Teal'c and nodded.
"You know, you are maybe right."
"You know, I'm always right, Jack. And now, Daniel, please, dial us home." Jack stepped behind her after Daniel and Teal'c already left the planet.
"You know, we still have to talk, Sam."
"I know, I know. But I'm too worried about things. Not only about Tok'tac, but there is something wrong with Janet, too."
"Alright then" Jack sighed. "I can wait. I have waited for so long, some more days are nothing to me. Just one thing, Sam."
"Yes?"
"I love you." Sam looked back at him surprised.
"You know, Jack, I never thought, that you could say something like that on duty."
"You know, I'm human, too. What about you?"
"I'm a human too, Jack. And I love you, too."

"Janet?" Janet stood at the end of the bed, reading in Tok'tac's case-history. And she held a little piece of paper in her other hand. This little paper with the result of a special test made her worry and glad at the same time.
"I'm here" she went to Tok'tac. " Welcome back!"
"How long am I here?"
"Since ten days. You were unconsious all the time. I'm glad you see you awake." Tok'tac placed her hand on her belly. Janet noticed it smiling.
"As far as I can say, it's everything okay with the baby."
"You know my secret?"
"I just made an ultrasonogram. It allows me to see in you inside. Do you wanna know the gender of your baby?"
"Are you able to predict it?"
"Sure. Do you wanna know it?"
"Let me think about it. You have to tell General Hammond, right?"
"Right. But I give you the opportunity to tell him by yourself."
"Tahnk you,Janet."
"Can I ask you something?"
"You wanna know the father, don't you?"
"Yes" she nodded. " But it's not pure curiousity, Tok'tac. I got a really good reason for asking you somethin so personal."
"It's Robert."
"I think, he will be glad..."
"Please, Janet, do not tell anyone about this. I won't even tell the General. He loves me not. I know now, that he was in love with Bastet, he still loves her. And I think she loves him, too."
"Alright, I will keep your secret."
"Oh, Isis was waiting for us. What happened?"
"Sg-1 was there. And they agreed with Bastet in another appointment."
"When?"
"I don't think, that you should gate travel in your condition."
"Gate travel is not dangerous for pregnant women, Janet."
"Okay, if you are alright in the next three days, you can go. But if not, I don't even let you out of the infirmary."
"That's a deal! Can I see Teal'c? Is he really okay?"
"Yes, he is. I 'll send him in. He is waiting outside. Daniel wants to speak to you, too."
"Tomorrow, I'm all tired now, I only want to see my brother." Janet nodded, then left the infirmary. Teal'c stood up, as he saw Janet exiting.
"She is awake now. You can go in."
"Thank you." Janet looked after him with a very sad expression on her face. She sighed loud, then decided to go and tell everything to Sam. She insisted in the last days, that she tells her, what is wrong with her.
"Are you alright?" Tok'tac asked, as her brother stepped in.
"Thank you and Daniel, I am."
"And Janet. She made the impossible possible, she kept you alive."
"I know" Teal 'c nodded. " Are you healthy?"
"Yes, I'm tired but I'm healthy. If everything will be okay in the next few days, then I can go to Isis."
******
"Sir, may I come in?"
"Sure, son, come in and feel yourself home. What can I do for you?"
"I think, you know, why I'm here."
"I guess, I know. And what's the problem,Colonel?"
"Our conversatin is still unoffcial, sir?" he asked, and went on after the nod. " I want to stay in the SGC."
"And?"
"If I quit the Air Force, it's not possible anymore. I'm useless, if I'm not a soldier. And I don't want Sam to quit the Air Force or leave the SGC."
"Then you got a huge problem, son."
"I know. I guess, I have no choice, I have to quit."
"I guess so" the General nodded.
"I will bring you the application for retirement this afternoon. Have a nice day, General" he grinned at him. Then saluted and left the General's office. The General smiled after him, and was glad, that their plan was working.
"Sir, may I come in?"
"Sure, Dr. Fraiser? Is something wrong with Tok'tac?"
"She is slleping, sir."
"And what can I do for you, Doctor?"
"I just wanted to tell you, that I'm pregnant, sir."
"Dr. Fraiser?"
"Yes, sir. Cn I ask for my retirement?"
"I don' t see the necessity of this."
"I have no husband, General. Not even a friend. And I know what kind of moral rules the Air Force. In their eyes, It's a shame to have a baby with out a husband. I only hope, that you are not disappointed."
"Surely not, Dr.Fraiser. And you can stay in the SGC, if you want. We need you here."
"Thank you, sir. Thank you so much. But I think it's better, if I go."
"Was it a soldier, Dr. Fraiser? Then I would be really disappointed, if this is the case."
"Not quiet, sir."
"And what does that mean, Doctor?"
"You have to promise me, that you don't tell anybody."
"Of course not" he nodded and sighed with relief. Dr. Fraiser was one of his best officers.
"Teal'c is the father, sir."
"I guessed so, but I wasn't sure. I guess, he doesn't know about the baby."
"And he won't know about it."
"I promised you."
"Here is my application for retirement, sir."
"Alright, Doctor!"
"Thank you, sir!" she saluted and left his office. Another five minutes was gone til someone knocked on the door again.
"Come in!"
"I hope, I'm not disturbing you, General Hammond."
"Surely not. Take a seat, Teal'c. What..."
"I wish to get married, General Hammond. "
"I thought you were married to Drey'auc."
"I was, but I'm not anymore. Last I was o P3X-797, we had parted. She found someone else, and I found someone else."
"What about Rya'c?"
"We gave him time to decide. You said me, that the President allowed me to have him here."
"That's right. And may I ask for the nam of the bride?"
"I didn't ask her yet. I wanted your permission, too, before ask her."
"My permission, too?"
"I already have Cassandra's."
"Oh, it's Dr. Fraiser?" General Hammond asked looking at the envelop lying in front of him on his desk. " If you ask her and she says 'yes', can you give her this?" with this he handed him Janet's application.
"Yes, sir. Do I have your permission?"
"Sure, Teal'c. Go and ask her."
******
General Hammond was heading back to his office. In the elevator he thought about the first two babies of the SGC. He considered to let Janet go, but then again Janet was one of his best officers and everyone was trusting her. Even the ever-cynic Jack O'Neill. And her knowledge was unbearable for this base. Sam was waiting for him.
"Sir, can I talk to you?"
"Sure, Major, come in!"
"I'd like to be inofficial."
"Alright, Sam, come in" he let her walk in. "Take a seat."
"Thank you, but it won't take so long. I'd like to ask you something. Can I stay in the SGC as a civilian?"
"Do you want to quit the Air Force, Sam?"
"Yes, sir. And I guess you know my reasons. Was Jack already here?"
"Are you sure you really wanna do this, Sam?" he asked avoiding to answer her question.
"I'm pretty sure. Can I stay in the SGC, sir?"
"Yes, Sam."
"And in SG-1?"
"Do you think three S3's in a military unit isn't strange?"
"So not. Thank you, sir. Here is my application."
"Alright, Major" he nodded. " Do you know, that Tok'tac is pregnant?"
"She told me already."
"Two babies in a top secret facility, I think, I'm too old for this" he smiled slightly.
"No way!" Sam smiled back. " Have a nice day, General!"
"Thank you, Major. Sooner or later I have to call the President. I don't think it will be so nice, as it was 'til now." Sam saluted, then left his office, leaving the General to his little red telephone. She headed back to the infirmary. Tok'tac was there surrounded by SG-1 and Janet.
"Sam, do you know the great news?"
"Yes. Daniel, the General has to call the President, but he is alone, if you still want to speak him."
"Thanks, Sam. Congratulations again, Tok'tac. Bye guys, see ya later!" with this he left the infirmary.
"What is it, Sam?"
"I thought...Nevermind!"
"He thought he was in love with me. He wasn't. I thought I was in love with him, I wasn't. So we had parted. It's so simple."
"Who are you talking about?" Jack asked.
"Really, Jack, can't you guess?"
"Oh, I see. The father of the baby. Janet, could be there problems if a Jaffa and a human get a child?"
"I'm sure there will be no problems" Tok'tac was answering his question. " How did you know anyway?" Tok'tac smiled at him.
"I guessed" Jack grinned back at her.
"Janet?" Sam turned to Janet, after exactly examining Teal'c's features. " I guess, Teal'c wants to talk to you, right, Teal'c?"
"Right, Major Carter."
"Then I suggest, that you two go to Janet's office and leave us here alone" Jack grinned at Janet and strongly slapped on Teal'c's shoulder.
"Colonel O'Neill?" Corporal Stone poked her head in. " General Hammond is waiting for you in his office."
"Coming. Bye!" Jack reluctantly left the infirmary, the last few days he didn't see that much of Sam. She was either with Janet or sitting next to Tok'tac's bed.
"Come in, Colonel!"
"Sir, here is the application" he handed him the envelop.
"Alright" he nodded, then put the application into the drawer. " We will speak of it after you come back from Isis."
"Thank you, sir."
"And now, let's talk about our little bet. I won." Jack pulled out his purse and grinnig he handed him a 20$ note.
"I will need this for the babies."
"That was our last bet, General. As a married man, I cannot burn my money."
"It's a shame, but I still have my bets with Daniel. Although if you are a married man...Briefing for SG-1 and Tok'tac is tommorow at 2100. Stay on the Base!" he said as the phone rang and then picked up. Jack saluted and then left his office. Daniel was still waiting outside.
"How many did you bet?"
"Bet?"
"Bet on us, Daniel. Don't play dumb! I was always betting with the General, so how many?
"50$."
"Wow! I lost 20$, you can give it back to me. After all I helped you to win."
"And Sam. What was your bet about?"
"Teal'c and Janet. I said, he will never have the courage to ask her."
"I'll buy Sam flowers."
"For 20$?"
"And I'll tell her, that they were from you."
"She will never believe that, but try it,Daniel."
******
"Wait here, please" Bastet said. "Isis has a meeting." There was somebody else in the room. From the corner Robert Makepeace was walking towards them, as they sat down.
"Hello, Robert" Tok'tac greeted him.
"Tok'tac" he nodded respectfully. " The Head of the Great Council is with her, you have to wait for a while."
"Hi, Colonel Makepeace!" Daniel decided, to be rude is not his way.
"Dr Jackson, nice to meet you again."
"Daniel, do not talk to this man!"
"I'm not the same man, you knew and hate, Jack."
"I guess, one year of Hedantes would make me say the same."
"I was there only for six months, but it was enough. Isis is trusting me."
"Well, but I don't know, if I can trust Isis. I never met her before."
"You can trust her."
"Excuse me, but this says a traitor. I'm not quite sure, but would you trust a traitor?"
"Ask your Major, if she had trusted you, as you were thought for a traitor" he shrugged his shoulders. The conversation stopped after this remark. Everybody was sitting there deep in his/her own thoughts. After ten minutes Bastet came back and let them in into the audience room. For Sam, Tok'tac and Robert it was no surprise anymore, but the men -even Teal'c- stood there paralysed.
"Wow" was all Jack could say.
"Tok'tac, I heard, you were injured" Isis said. The surprise of the men was rising.
"Are you alright now?" Tok'tac only nodded.
"Where is Robert?"
"I'm here" came the response from the door.
"I see, you couldn't convince them."
"As I said, I had no chance."
"May I ask you something?" Jack finally found his voice.
"You are Colonel Jack O'Neill, right?"
"Right, Ma'm"
"Go ahead!"
"How could you live so long? Do you change bodies, or do you use a sarcophagus?"
"Neither of them, Colonel O'Neill. I'm not the original Isis."
"But Tok'tac said your mate Osiris..."
"Our mates always have the same destiny. They fight against tthe Goa'uld and the Goa'uld destroy them every time. I don't know why. We recollect their body-pieces and in our lifetimes they live under special circumstances. We only have one daughter, who is always carrying the name Isis. Certainly we live much longer than you."
"How much longer?" Sam asked.
"In your time computation we live for nearly 600 years."
"Wow!" Daniel found his voice too. " You have got a beautiful city and this room is absolutely stunning."
"Thank you, Dr Jackson."
"Did you think about the alliance?" Tok'tac asked her.
"Robert convinced me, that this alliance with you could be the right thing. And I also asked my friends The Nox and The Asgard. They said you have great potential. And you had eliminated some of my worst enemies. That's impressive. Do you have something like a Great Council?" she turned to Daniel.
"Do you want to come with us? " he asked back.
"Yes. And Bastet will accompany me and Robert."
"I fear, this is not possible, Ma'm" Jack said. "Maybe sometimes later."
"Alright. So, Dr Jackson?"
"We have got a president, but he is always busy. And we have got the Joint Chief Staff, they are the Head of our Military."
"I want to meet them. After all this is a military business, we conclude alliance against the Goa'uld, to destroy them you'll need your military. Certainly I need some time to prepare myself for this appointment. Would you come back for us in three days?"
"Of course" Sam nodded.
"Bastet is escorting you back" with this she disappeared.
"Wow!" Daniel exclaimed.
"She is a remarkable person" Teal'c said.
*****
After the debriefing General Hammond asked Sam and Jack into his office. The General's phone rang, so they had to wait outside for a while.
"Does he want to speak of our future?" Sam asked.
"I guess so. I gave him my application to quit the Air Force."
"Me too."
"No way! I'm not letting you to give p on your career, Sam!"
"It was my decision, Jack. There is no need of a discussion." Jack saw his stubborn major into the eyes and then nodded. That's her life. He could only love her, she makes her decisions alone.
"Whatever comes, Sam, one thing is sure: I love you and I want you to marry me. Will you marry me?"
"Are you sure, that...?"
"Absolutely sure" he interrupted her in midsentence.
"I love you, too. And I will marry you."
"Thank you" he could only whisper, because the General's door opened.
"Colonel, Major, I think, they belong to you" he handed them two envelops. They opened them and found their applications. In pieces.
"But General!"
"We saw this coming. The President, Jacob and me. The President was willing to set aside the regulations, if you were willing to give up on your careers, but wanted to remain in the SGC to serve mankind further. This was the case. But you can only remainin the SGC as a married couple. Is it a problem for you?"
"No, sir" Jack shook his head.
"No, sir" Sam shook her head.
"Alright then. But you cannot stay together in SG-1. Jack, your promotion was on it's way anyway. Next week you will be a brigadier general. And this time you will be my real 2IC."
"But..."
"Of course, when something will go wrong, you can go through the gate. Except that, your task will be to coordinat the establishment of an extraterrastrial base."
"And who will be he CO of SG-1?" Jack asked.
"Major Carter. Her promotion was on it's way, too. As a Lt. Colonel you'll lead SG-1, Major Carter."
"Thank you, sir."
"Do you agree with this plan?"
"Yes, sir" they said in unison.
"Then you are dismissed. Til your marriage you are on stand-by. And I want to participatee on your wedding."
"Sure, sir" they nodded, then left his office.
*Epilogue*
"But if you really wanna get married, you will need a real name, Janet. I mean Mrs Teal'c sounds somewhat strange" Jack grinned at her.
"Yeah, Janet, Jack is right, exceptionally. What about my name, I would be glad to give my name to your family" said Sam.
"Mine is better" Jack said.
"But then there would be two Mrs O'Neills in the SGC" Janet stated.
"My name is Carter O'Neill, as you can remember , Janet. And I will be anyway a Lt. Colonel O'Neill and you a Major O'Neill or a Dr O'Neill."
"Yes, Ma'm!" Janet saluted her.
"I didn't mean it that way, Janet" Sam said in an injured tone and then turned away.
"I know, Sam. But O'Neill is an Irish name, and Teal'c looks like everything else but Irish.
"Shaq O'Neal has almost the same Irish name" Jack added.
"Okay" Janet gave in.
"And what about my name?" Daniel asked hurted.
"Sorry,Daniel" Sam smiled at him regretfully.
"No offense, Daniel, but I don't think Janet will take your name. One Janet Jackson is enough for this world."
"Oh"
"Can I add something?" Teal'c asked.
"Sure, Teal'c, go ahead, the decision is yours, too."
"Thank you O'Neill. And thank you for your names, but I alread have a name. Last year as I became an American citizen, I got a name too."
"And what is it?" Daniel asked.
"Tell us, tell us" Jack demanded.
"Yes, and why didn't say us, that you are a citizen of the USA?" Sam asked him.
"The General knew and I got the name from him. My name is Teal'c Hammond."
"Uhhh, Janet, you will be a Mrs Hammond."
"Is it not good?"
"Sure it is" Janet reassured him. " But they will be always kidding me about this."
"You can count on us, Janet" Jack said grinnig. " Where is Tok'tac, Teal'c?"
"With the General. They receive the Joint Chief Staffs together."
"Finally" Lt. Grham Simmons sighed with relief, as he walked in seeing all of them is there. " Sir, General Hammond said, that you should come. All of you."
"Me too, Lieutenant?" Janet asked.
"Yes, Ma'm."
"We are coming, Lt. Simmons" Jack nodded. " Okay, campers, behave yourself."
"This warning was only for yourself, right, Jack?" Daniel asked.
"Major Carter-O'Neill, it wasn't funny, stop giggling!"
"Aye-aye, Sir!" Sam saluted, then bursted out in laughter. " I'll behave myself, sir" she said then sincerely, looking at Jack's face.
××××××
"There he goes" Daniel said to Teal'c. They were standing in the control room. Jack was leaving for the Alpha Site, where he and the nearly thirty people standing with him at the foot of the ramp, will began with the establishment of the extraterrestrial base. Sam was giving in the symbols. She announced, that the seventh chevron is locked and Gate opened.
"Three months" she whispered under her breath. " How could you allow her to spend there three months!? She is pregnant, for God's sake!" she turned back.
"That is her life, Lt.Colonel Carter-O'Neill."
"You are enoying this, right, Teal'c? I told you already to call me Sam. Or do I have to make it an order? And the question was directed at Daniel."
"Why?"
"Don't play dumb, Daniel! I saw you last night in the bar. You were looking after her."
"That is her life. And I hope, she will miss me."
"I see."
"They will be safe there, Sam. They will have an iris, too. And sometimes, after a mission, we could go and visit them."
"Good idea" she smiled at him.
"And I didn't hear Dr Jackson's good idea" said General hammond stepping in into the control room. " Would you be so kind, Lt. colonel Carter-O'Neill and dial the Meeting Planet? SG-8 is heading to Isis' Home Planet. SG-1 is scheduled for tommorow 1400. Stay on the base, please."
"Sir?" Janet walked in.
"Yes, Dr Fraiser-Hammond?"
"SG-10 is in quarantine from now on."
"Thank you, Doctor. I have to go to call The President. Lt.Colonel Carter-O'Neill, please, say farewell to SG-8" with this he left the control room.
"Aye-aye, Sir! I can say you, he is enjoying to say my name at every possible occasion. But payback is a bitch , for everybody" she murmured. " Hey, good disguise, Major Doctor Janet Fraiser-Hammond! Even the enemy could not read your name tag."
"The pot calls the kettle black, Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter-O'Neill" Janet retorted.
