Who could that be? Sam's working late in the labs, and besides, she wouldn't ring the doorbell.

It's probably one of the guys - Daniel, or maybe Feretti or Makepeace - who's come over for a beer.

Nope. It's a princess, a football player, and Jar-Jar Binks.

I give them some of Sam's Tootsie Roll stock, and close the door.

I had forgotten it was Halloween, hadn't even made a Jack-o-lantern.

When Charlie was alive, we would have so much fun decorating the house for Halloween.

I blink to stop the tears.

I ignore the doorbell the rest of the night.
