Sometimes I wonder, did they ever know? My two best friends and they probably didn't know about the tension that's in the room whenever they were in the room together. Of course not, they're scientists. They have no idea of love. Oh, Daniel had Sha're but she was sort of just thrust at him, the love part came later, when they figured out they were stuck together. Carter... I didn't know much about Carter. I tried to think of her as one of the guys, when in truth she was so far away from that.

I don't know when I began realizing that I loved her but I buried those feelings like a good soldier should. If I was such a good soldier, why did it feel so horrible and twisted?

Sometimes I wish I hadn't buried it, but she wouldn't have accepted me. She probably would have had me court martialed if I'd tried anything. Just thought I was a horny old soldier that wanted someone to keep his bed warm. But I loved her and I wish I'd told her but it's too late now because she's gone. Disappeared during a routine survaillence mission and we never found her. I blamed myself for a while but soon realized that she wouldn't have wanted me waste so much time on a guilt trip.

We all miss her, but I think that no one can miss her more than me.
