AUHTORS NOTE: Don't know if anyone used this idea before, haven't read anything yet though. I can't believe I listened to that song for ages and NEVER noticed  *smacksherhead*. Well, but better late than never *g*

The party was great. Daniel and Janet had been on the dancefloor for hours and even Teal'c had tried his best to dance - much to the amusement of General Hammond it seemed. Sam wanted to dance, too, but she didn't, most of all because the men who wanted to dance with her were all not her favorite choice of a dance partner. There was only one person in this whole room she wanted to dance with. Sam looked at Jack who stood next to the General. The music changed and a Jennifer Lopez song started playing. Sam sighed.

It seemed to be like the perfect thing for you and me
It's so ironic you're what I had pictured you to be
But there are facts in our lives we can never change
Just tell me that you understand and feel the same

Jack looked up, his eyes searching the room for Sam. He heard the music, too. Sam stood up. That was a sign, now or never, she thought.

This perfect romance that I created in my mind
I'd live a thousand lives each one with you right by my side
But yet we find ourselves in a less than perfect circumstance
And now it seems like we never have the chance

Oh yeah, we will and if our only chance is to share this dance, Sam thought determined. She reached the Colonel and the General. Without saying a word, she grabbed Jack's arm and dragged him to the dance-floor. General Hammond grinned. He should have seen that coming.

Ain't it funny how some feeling you just can't deny
And you can't move on even though you try
Ain't it strange how you're feeling things you shouldn't feel
Oh I wish this could be real

Suddenly his hand was at her hip and her arms around his neck. The people and the place, everything around her lost every meaning as Sam and Jack started dancing. Dancing to a song, that seemed to say it all. That seemed to have been written for them alone.

Ain't it funny how a moment can just change your life
And you don't wanna face what's wrong or right
Ain't it strange how fate can play a part
In the story of your heart.

As they danced to the hot tune, Sam was amazed to find that Jack was a fantastic dancer. She never would have guessed. Their bodies shared the same rhythm, seemed to now in advance what the next movement, the next step of the other would be. Other couples on the dance-floor started staring at Jack and Sam.

Ain't it funny how some feelings you just can't deny.
And you can't move on even though you try

"Oh, I tried", Jack whispered as he drew Sam close to him for a second. "Believe me, I tried." "I know. Me too."

Ain't it strange how you're feeling things you shouldn't feel

"The hell with it!" "Jack?""

You've touched my heart and it altered every plan of me
And now I feel that I don't have to be afraid.

Jack pulled her close. For a second time stood still. His lips touched hers. The kiss only lasted a second but for Sam and Jack it seemed to last forever. When they drew apart a huge grin spread over Jack's face as he listened again to the lyrics of the song. After a second Sam understood and grinned.

I guess that means that you and me were meant to be.

Oh yeah, Sam thought happily.
