Chapter One - Artemisia.
~0o0~
"How do we know Urgo is really alive?" asked Daniel
"I will, as soon as you are quiet," growled Togar
Daniel and Jack looked at each other and replied in unison "he's alive"
Togar then made the preparations to transport SG-1 back and the SG team found themselves back at the SGC gateroom.
That was twelve months ago. With the removal of the "Urgo Chip" as it had been dubbed, life and the bi-weekly off world missions had returned to normal. SG-1 had survived disaster after disaster: meteor showers, the arrest of operatives working for a branch of NID, the battle and eventual defeat of the enemy which even the As Airmen feared and culminating in a near miss of mistaken Zay'tarc identities which had nearly resulted in the neutralisation of two of the SGC's finest. All in all a busy year!
SG-1 was now looking forward to a well-earned month of downtime. Just one more simple mission to P5X799 a planet that according to the UAV contained a small settlement a couple of miles from the Gate. Simple, just follow out the basic standing orders: your average meet and greet, soil samples to test for Naquahdah or other important minerals and to look out for any useful technology.
Overall, the mission was a success. The soil samples showed trace amounts of Naquadah but not enough to suit the needs of the SGC. The natives were friendly and happy to share their technology, which was slightly more advanced than their own. The villagers known as the Artemisians had developed an electrical power source that was extremely economical and safe to both humans and the environment. It was run by pouring mineralised water into a specially designed generator that converted it to an electromagnetic pulse. Only minor changes to current Earth appliances would be needed to utilise this new source of energy.
The team were invited to inspect the main generator and they were amazed at the technology these seemingly primitive peoples had produced.
"uh, Sam, is this safe?" asked Daniel
"I'm positive. From what I understand this technology gives off electromagnetic pulse electricity, its perfectly safe for us."
They had just reached the generator's core when they all simultaneously felt a sharp pain in their temples.
"Oww! What was that?" groaned Jack
"I don't know Sir, I think we should leave here."
"I agree. Ok kids, lets get back out into the open" ordered Jack.
Back outside the pain subsided.
"What was that Carter?" demanded Jack
"I don't know Sir, a static shock perhaps?"
"Well I think we should check it out before returning to Earth with the plans. See what you can find out."
"Yes Sir"
Sam spent the rest of the day experimenting with the generator and after many frustrating experiments she still could not discover what was wrong.
"Row, row, row your boat" came a ghostly out of tune voice behind her. Sam spun around but found no one there. Telling herself to get a grip she turned back to the generator to complete one last test.
"Boring!" came a singsong voice.
Sam once again spun around and once again she found out she was alone. Sam put her hand to her forehead. "Ok, that's enough" she muttered to herself, putting it down to hunger and tiredness Sam stood up and went to look for the others. Outside she stretched and looked up to the stars. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a round figure looking at her. Turning her head for a better look she found herself looking into an empty field.
"Geez, I'm more tired than I thought"
The night was cool and the sky clear, Sam decided to lie down in the grass and simply watch the night sky. Soon her stomach began to growl, deciding food was definitely on the agenda she went in search of the others, suddenly craving pumpkin pie. The remaining members of SG-1 and it seemed the town's entire population were in what could be described as a town hall. Daniel had been trapped in a corner by some of the village elders, Jack was surrounded by the single ladies, only Teal'c was left alone, his fierce demeanour preventing any intrusion. Sam stood in the doorway with a grin on her face amused by her teammates' obvious discomfort. She was tossing a coin to decide whom she would save first when the Colonel caught her eye. The look on his face made her laugh and she suddenly had a desire to be with him. A desire obviously shared by her CO as he too moved away from his adoring public towards his 2IC.
"Hey Carter, how'd it go with the generator?"
"Fine Sir, I can't find anything wrong with it. I have no idea why we all felt that shock."
"Well, leave it for tonight, see what we can do in the morning. Do you want some pie? It's not pumpkin but it's definitely good." Smiled Jack as he led Sam to the table.
"Pie Sir?"
"Yeah, I've been hankerin for the stuff all afternoon. Some of the ladies heard me mention it to ol' Danny boy and viola there it was!"
"That's weird"
"What?"
"I've been craving pie too."
"That is weird. Oh well, I guess it's just that time of year" mumbled Jack as he reached for a large piece of the pie.
Sam was just about to take a bite when Daniel and Teal'c joined them.
"God, that pie smells good. I've been craving it all afternoon."
"As have I" said Teal'c.
The four friends suddenly stopped and looked at each other.
'That's weird" said Sam, Daniel and Jack in unison.
"Indeed" said Teal'c
They stood there staring at each other for what seemed like hours when suddenly they heard a voice
"Boring!!!" As one their heads turned to the end of the room.
"Did you hear that?" asked Jack
The four exchanged worried looks. "You don't think." asked Sam
"Couldn't possibly be.." Replied Daniel. "I mean he.."
"It was probably just the townsfolk." Soothed Jack. "Perhaps we should call it a night. Sam your exhausted, Daniel you've been drinking waaay too much of that punch stuff and Teal'c. well you've been standing in that corner too long..." Nodding assent they separated to say their goodnights and head for their tents.

Sam was not sleeping well. She kept hearing voices in her dreams. A voice she knew but couldn't recognise. It was sitting on the edge of her consciousness just out of her reach. Tossing she fell into a restless sleep.
"Jack!" whispered a voice within her dream.
"Jack! Come to me!" Sam tossed trying to wake, free herself from her tormentor. "I, we can't the regs." She cried, pleaded to the relentless voice. She tossed violently, desperate to wake, however, she soothed as she heard the voice that her night-time whisperer had demanded, felt the touch of the person who she knew should not be touching her this way, but the touch that her whisperer demanded she respond to. Waking she looked at the dark silhouette in her tent. Unafraid she reached out to touch his face, shocked to realise how close it was to her own. She traced the outline of his features with her fingers, the soft stubble sensual to her touch.
"Jack! Wha.." she tried to whisper but her words were silenced with his mouth passionately asking permission. Responding to his kiss she gave her consent.
"Make love to me, Jack. Now!"
She pressed her lips to his, tasting him, loving him. His breathing grew deeper, and finally, his hands came up to caress her back, at first tentatively, then with increasing surety and confidence as he realised this was what she wanted. She felt her heart begin to beat, hard, and her hand drifted down to slip beneath his shirt and touch the warm skin below.
His stomach was flat and hard, the hairs there silky against her fingers. She leaned against him till he finally drew her close and pressed her to the ground. He kissed her, his fingers finding parts of her that she didn't know existed, let alone had feeling, until sobs of pleasure were clogging the back of her throat. His mouth was there, against hers, and she felt him straining against her hand, heard his hot, heavy breathing and the frantic slam of her heart in her ears. Gently rolling her onto her back, he eased himself down to her tiny body and drove himself deeply into her. He groaned with the feel of it. She arched up to meet him, sighing, and then her hands were cupping the back of his head, his neck, his shoulders, her nails driving into his sweat-sheened back as he began the slow agonizing rhythm, trying to hold out, trying desperately, frantically to make it last. She bucked beneath him, her soft cries quickly muffled by his mouth as it slammed down to capture hers. And as he felt the first waves of climax beginning to seize them both and he knew all was lost.
~0o0~
The first rays of the dawn were filtering through the tent flaps as they stirred. Cocooned in Jack's arms Sam slept deeply, completely relaxed. Her eyes began to open and an overwhelming sense of contentment washed over her, unsure as to the origin of this feeling she rolled over happily sighing and it was as she rolled that she found herself looking into Jack's closed eyes. Confusion was followed by shock as she slowly remembered what had happened. Moving quietly as to not wake the sleeping Colonel she rose to leave the tent. She had just grabbed her jacket when she heard a man's voice.
"Well, that was definitely not boring!"
She spun around thinking it was Jack, but the sleeping Colonel had not moved. She stood there trying to desperately figure out what had happened. She was standing there staring when Jack awoke to find Sam staring at him, her blue eyes filled with confusion.
"Hey!" he whispered a slow smile lighting up his still sleepy features.
"What are you do..."
"Oh my god!" he cried sitting up as he suddenly realised what had happened.
"What.. Who?."
"Way to go Jack!.." came the voice. Both of them spun around to look at the entrance of the tent, but there was no one there.
"What?" asked Jack, but Sam simply shrugged. They stood there, staring at each other, emotions darting across their faces: happiness, sadness, hope, and fear..
"Urgo!" cried Sam.
"Urgo? But he..
"It has to be! It's been on the tip of my tongue since yesterday. The familiar voice, the familiar body, the craving for food!"
"Why that little.." fumed Jack.
"Urgo! URGO!!!!" yelled Jack spinning around trying to see the unwanted intruder suddenly.
"Hello, hello, hello" came the cheerful voice as Urgo suddenly appeared sitting on Sam's sleeping bag. Both Sam and Jack stared, completely shocked. Even though they had suspected they never really expected..
"Urgo! What? When? How? " Stammered Jack. Urgo simply sat there and shrugged his shoulders unable to explain. Jack stormed out of his tent closely followed by Sam.
"Daniel! Teal'c!"
"Oh wow, I had the strangest dream.. I was with this woman and we were...
"I too had that dream, Daniel Jackson," said Teal'c
"You did? Well that's weird. Ugh, Jack what's wrong?" asked Daniel as he realised Jack wasn't interested in their joint dream.
"THAT is what's wrong!" replied Jack as Teal'c joined them. Turning to look back at Sam's tent Daniel and Teal'c could merely stare.
"What? When? How?" stammered Daniel.
"That's exactly what I said" stormed Jack "and I still haven't gotten an answer." Jack spun around to see Urgo cowering behind Sam.
"Then the dream was. The woman was..." Daniel couldn't finish the sentence, his embarrassment evident as the red showed on his face. Jack confirmed his suspicion with the grim turn of his mouth.
"C'mon we're going back to base."
"But what about the Artemisians? We've got to."
"Now Daniel!" interrupted Jack. "Leave the equipment, we'll send someone back for the them. Let's go NOW!"

Chapter 2 - Hello, Hello, Hello.
~0o0~
"Unscheduled Gate Activation!" came the tinny voice over the PA system.
'Close the Iris" ordered General Hammond.
"No, need sir, getting GDO code.. Its SG1!" said Sgt Davis
The Gate whooshed open and through it walked: one very angry looking Colonel, a slightly flushed Major, a very embarrassed archaeologist and a confused Jaffa.
"SG1, you weren't due back for another forty eight hours. What happened?"
"Well, its seems Sir, we've picked up an old friend. General, you remember Urgo!"
"Urgo? What? When? How? Colonel, please explain yourself. No, wait. Report to the infirmary, now!"
~0o0~
Two hours later SG1, Janet and General Hammond sat in the briefing room trying to solve the situation.
"I've run the MRI and Electron Resonance Scans again and compared them to the scans taken two years ago when, uh, Urgo was last with us. It seems the chip is definitely there and emitting the same electromagnetic current that it did before."
"Damn! Urgo!!!" yelled Jack.
"Hello, hello, hello" came the cheery voice of Urgo.
"Urgo, how did this happen?" asked Sam the look on her face telling Jack to calm down.
"I don't know. I swear!" cried Urgo as Jack moved as if to remove Urgo physically.
"I remember Togar was visiting this tropical planet, we had just met the local natives and WHAM! I was suddenly with you all again. That's all I know!"
"So somehow the chips were activated again." Said Daniel.
"No, Togar told us that he removed the chip," replied Sam.
"General, request permission to return to Togar's planet, what is it? Px..."
"P4X 884" supplied a smiling Sam, her first smile since returning to base.
"No, you can't" cried Urgo. "Togar isn't there! I told you he was away, he'll be gone for three of your earth days."
"Well that's it. Until you can return to P4X884 you will remain in quarantine." Ordered Hammond.
"Yes sir." They said in unison as they were escorted to the isolation rooms.
~0o0~
Later that night, the four friends sat trying desperately to ignore the continuous comments of boredom coming from their unwelcome guest.
"I've got it!" exclaimed Sam. "I know how Urgo came back! Well half of it anyway."
"How?" asked Jack and Daniel together.
"Electromagnetic pulse."
"What?"
"Do you remember last time, when we were trying to remove Urgo, I set off an electromagnetic pulse and he disappeared for awhile? Well, if the chip is emitting a low level electromagnetic field and if a electromagnetic pulse could remove him, at least temporarily, then it stands to reason that an electromagnetic shock could bring him back!"
"But where did we come into contact of an electromagnetic pulse?" asked Daniel.
"On P5X799." Answered Jack.
"Yes, their generator emitted a low level electromagnetic pulse. Remember when we all felt that sharp pain? My guess is that it was the pulse hitting the chip and reactivating it."
"But why do we still have the chip"
"That part I don't know, I guess we'll just have to ask Togar about that one."
"Yes, well we can't do that for awhile, so I suggest we try and just wait it out. I for one am going to bed." Replied Jack. Standing up he hit the door to tell the Airmen outside he was wanted.
~ 0o0 ~
Daniel was sitting alone in his room and for the first time he was bored. His books were all in his lab and he couldn't be bothered getting an escort to take him. So he sat and thought. Suddenly his thoughts began to drift. Drift towards a cute little brunette who was a killer with a needle. The thought made him smile.
"Call Janet" came the whisper from his mind. Without question, he followed the suggestion opening his door he yelled:
"Airman, fetch Dr Fraiser I must see her immediately!"
"But Dr Jackson, she's off duty, I think she's gone home."
"Well, check" but the Airmen hesitated. "NOW!"
"Y..Yes sir!"
Moments later Dr Fraiser was at the door. "Dr Jackson, what's wrong. Can I come in?"
"Yes come in, come in alone"
"Ok, I'm coming in" Dr Fraiser opened the door slowly not knowing what to expect.
He came from nowhere,
quickly closing the door; he pushed Janet to the wall, capturing her lips
with his, his excitement evident. Janet was surprised, but that surprise
had turned to passion by the time that Daniel ended the kiss. Searching
her face for a sign, he turned away reading the surprise on her face for
rejection. Sitting on the edge of his bed he was a vision of
vulnerability.
"Janet, I'm sorry. I uh, don't know what happened. One minute I'm sitting here, the next I couldn't wait to see you, to touch you... Urgo! Damn him!"
"Shhh, Daniel, its ok." Janet reached up to cup his face with her hand; her eyes welled with tears when he flinched. Stroking his cheek she continued to whisper and sooth.
"It wasn't just Urgo" whispered Daniel
"What did you say? I couldn't hear"
Clearing his throat Daniel spoke again, this time louder.
"It wasn't, isn't just Urgo. He, Urgo doesn't make things up, he reads our minds and makes suggestions on what he finds. He knows."
"Knows what?"
"He. He knows how I feel.. about you. Its Ok, I know you don't feel the same, I can live with that, but I wanted you to know.."
"Oh Daniel, you don't know anything" Janet's tone made Daniel bring his head up, Janet took full advantage and leaning forward kissed him. "Daniel, you don't know for how long I've wanted to do that. All those times you've been injured in the infirmary.. I've wanted to tell you, but I didn't know how you.. with Shau're...."
"All the time we've wasted." He said in a barely audible whisper, the next moment she was in his arms her own arms around his neck and their mouths locked, surrender. passion, all in one.
Daniel looked dazed when he pulled his mouth away, wonder in his eyes as he slid her doctor's smock off and tossed it at the chair, returning his hands to her blouse to work on its buttons while he covered her face with kisses. Eyes, ears, nose the kisses roamed everywhere before he took her mouth again to savour it with a slow, deep sensuousness that made Janet feel as if she was melting in sweetness while the same time hurting physically from the fiery longing low and deep inside her.
It took an age for Daniel to undress her. an age punctuated by those long lingering kisses, by possessive hands lingering over her breasts s he removed their lacy covering.. lingering over her hips as he drew the skirt down over them... lingering everywhere he touched, setting tremors of excitement Janet couldn't control. She sensed the growing urgency within him, saw it glowing in his eyes as he flung his own clothing off in mere seconds.
Daniel pressed her onto the bed and propping himself up on an elbow, he lay beside her, looking and loving and already possessing her with his eyes.
"Daniel" it was a plea for his mouth, his touch. She reached for him, tentatively at first, then bolder, a flare of triumph surfacing as Daniel bent over her with a groan of tortured ecstasy, his hands and mouth hers at last.
"Sweetheart, I've been going crazy wanting you. I've wanted you from the moment we met" he told her between urgent kisses down her throat.
There was a new gentleness in his hands and in his mouth as they resumed their erotic journey over her body, the tenderness more arousing than any savage passion. Janet arched and tossed uncontrollably, the aching need inside her intensifying inexorably with each state of Daniel's tour of discovery. She cried out as he drew up to cover her with his body, digging her fingers savagely into his shoulder and crying out again when he entered her the spasms of pleasure searing through her body.
"Sweetheart.. Darling.." Daniel whispered the words into her mouth, hushing her cries with the engulfing kisses. Janet thought she would go mad as the pleasure welled and welled inside her; yet she would have died if he had stopped.
Nothing had prepared her for the final piercing peak; she felt rocked by an explosion that shattered her body and soul; a white blaze of light flared behind her closed lids, and she was only dimly aware of Daniel's hoarse cry as he abandoned his control at last and gave in to is own need of her.
Wrapped up in his arms, drained and blissfully happy she began to drift off to sleep. She was asleep when Daniel whispered the phrase she had been longing to hear:
"I love you, Janet"
~ 0o0 ~
Sam was startled by the soft knock on her door. Opening it, she was even more surprised to see Jack looking distinctly uncomfortable accompanied by two Airmen.
"Uh, Colonel, hi. What are you doing here?" asked a bemused and wary Sam.
"I just wanted to talk to you about this Urgo thing, I, um, wanted to sort some things out, you know, um... Can I come in?"
"Yeah, sure Sir, c'mon in"
"Excuse me gentlemen, but we'd like to talk alone! Please leave us!" commanded Jack as the two Airmen made to walk into the room with them. Grumbling to themselves they turned around and closed the door behind them.
"Ya gotta love those guys!" smiled Jack as he watched the Airmen leave. Turning to face Sam his smile vanished as he saw the confusion, hurt and vulnerability on her face.
"Sam, I, about last night..."
"Its ok sir, I know it was Urgo, he.."
"No! Sam, you don't understand." Cried Jack. "It wasn't just Urgo.." his voice was barely audible, his eyes pleading with Sam to understand.
'Col... Jack, what do you mean? Of course it was Urgo."
"Sam you of all people should know that Urgo can't make us do anything. He can only suggest. Urgo couldn't make me do anything that I..I haven't wanted to do for a long, long time"
"You mean.."
"Yes, Sam." Whispered Jack, moving towards her, he pulled her to him. "I've wanted to hold you like this for such a long time. That day that Anise, that day when we had to. had to talk about things we didn't want to. That day, I lied Sam, I didn't tell the complete truth. I don't care about you, Sam, I.., I love you." He searched her eyes, looking for something, acknowledgment, rejection. anything. Suddenly, her face softened as she realised what he had just admitted. Her eyes welled with tears.
His eyes darkened until they seemed almost black as with a forceful and irresistible pressure on her back he drew her inexorably closer. Sam let him pull her close against him so her slender body was pressed against the firm hard length of his.
"Oh Sam, Urgo has nothing to do with this" Jack murmured softly, his lips brushing her temple lightly. His mouth moved to her cheek, his kiss firmer than before, setting a light to the smouldering embers of her heart, making them flare up into a burning heat so that she moaned softly, becoming limp in his grasp, her whole body pliant against his hardness.
"Sam, do you really want this?" he whispered, his voice begging, pleading.
"Yes!" It was a cry of longing, of surrender as she twisted her head so that her mouth met his in a burning, demanding kiss that released a floodgate of passion she had barely kept in check since his mouth had first brushed hers, drowning all coherent thought in a boiling sea of feeling that flowed through her veins, so that all she was aware of was Jack, his lips on hers, his hands moving possessively over her body, and the warm scent of him in her nostrils.
"Make love to me, Jack" she murmured against his lips, as her hands slid around his neck, burying themselves in the silk of his hair, pulling his head down to hers with a strength she didn't know she possessed.
If there had been any doubt in her mind before, there was none now. No one's kiss had ever affected her like this, not Jonas, or even Narim. It was Jack that she wanted, Jack that she needed, Jack that she.. loved.
Impatiently she tugged at his shirt, pulling the buttons free from their fastenings with fingers that were clumsy with need, a sigh of contentment escaping her only when her questing fingers touched the smooth warmth of his skin beneath his shirt. She heard Jack's swiftly indrawn breath and a bubble of excited laughter rose in her throat at the thought that at last she had broken through his well-guarded wall of restraint. A wall that had seemed impenetrable since the zay'tarc incident.
Jack was drawing her to the bed and she went with him unresistingly, returning his kisses with a fervour that made him groan aloud as he swung her off her feet and carried her swiftly to the bed. He had barely laid her down before his hands, rough and urgent, were pulling her top loose before they slid in and upwards to cup and caress her breasts.
"Jack." Her words died under the pressure of his mouth as she abandoned herself to the ruthlessly sensual domination of his kiss, her heart leaping in pleasure and anticipation as his hands caressed her body, smoothing and stroking. And then he touched her nipples, tormentingly light and unsatisfying so that she moaned a faint protest, one that faded on a sigh of pleasure as his lips replaced fingers and she felt their soft tug against her aching flesh.
A fever of impatience
suffused every nerve and she let her hands wander freely over his body
as his hands had over hers, knowing a glow of exultation as she felt his
shuddering response to her touch. She pressed her mouth against the
fierce pulse that beat at the base of his throat,
glorying in the knowledge
that he was incapable of hiding his reaction from her.
The exhilarating mixture of desire and longing to communicate her love threatened to drive her out of her mind as she chanted Jack's name against his heated skin as he removed her clothes, bringing her arms around him as soon as she was naked, sliding her hands down over his shoulders and back to his narrow waist, holding him tight against her so that her body was crushed against his.
"Sam!" he cried but he was silenced as she closed his mouth with hers, digging her fingers into the hard muscles of his shoulder she arched her body against him in silent invitation.
The moment of union was a second of pure joy, then he was moving, strongly, powerfully, taking her with him out of the real world into another realm of blinding ecstasy, until the intensity of her pleasure exploded in her mind in a golden haze of sensation.
Slowly, very slowly,
she drifted back to reality. Her body scarcely seemed to belong to
her; she was aware of nothing but a languorous, sated feeling and the warmth
of Jack so close to her, nestled in his arms she wanted nothing but to
stay like this forever. The steady rhythm of jack stroking her arm,
sending her into a peaceful sleep; on the edge of oblivion, barely
capable of thought she
whispered the only thing left unspoken:
"I love you, Jack."
It seemed like minutes, but in reality it was hours before they were suddenly awakened with a loud thump on the door.
"Major Carter!" called a Airmen. "General Hammond wants to see all of you in the briefing room in one hour... Major Carter!"
"Yes, yes I heard. I'll be there." she called back. Sighing she lay back down, rolling over she looked into Jack's eyes and although she promised herself she wouldn't, she cried.
"Sshhh" whispered Jack, "Its Ok, Sam. We'll work something out, I promise." Smiling once more Sam burrowed back into his arms for one last kiss, one last touch, before they both stood, dressed and once again resumed a relationship befitting their ranks.
~ 0o0 ~
The light from the hallway was flowing through the crack in his door; shining in his eyes when Daniel awoke. Rolling over, smiling to himself, he felt for Janet, however, his hand met with cold sheets. Propping himself up on an elbow he looked at the creases in the sheets that her warm body had left. It was then that he saw the note:
Didn't want to wake you,
We need to talk.
Janet
Daniel stared at the note, overwhelming hurt replacing the happiness he felt when he first awoke. He sat there silently replaying the night's events, wondering where he went wrong, what he said that drove her away. He was shaken from his thoughts by a loud knocking at his door. Ignoring it, he rolled over, curling into a ball lost in his depression.
*Bam! Bam!* "Dr Jackson!"
"Dr Jackson!" the insistent voice would not allow Daniel to withdraw into himself.
"Yes, What is it?" he growled, furious at the intrusion. There was a shocked silence as the Airman stood wondering, unsure of what to do with a reply that was so out of character for the mild mannered archaeologist.
"Ah, Sir, General Hammond wants to see you all in an hour!" he quickly replied waiting only long enough for Daniel to confirm that he had heard before hurrying away.
Daniel groaned, punching his pillow as he moved to get up.
"Damn you Urgo!" he cried. Seconds later he noticed a small shadow in the corner of his eye.
"Daniel... I'm sorry. Its just that I've never felt... Togar certainly never.."
The obvious discomfort of his not quite real, not quite imaginary friend, softened his mood.
"Its ok, Urgo. It was bound to happen eventually. But you can't keep doing this, you can't play with people's emotions. Look what you've done to Sam and Jack, if you know of their feelings for one another, surely you also know that it cannot be... How could you. No, what gives you the right to hurt them so?"
"I'm sorry" whispered Urgo and Daniel only just heard his parting comment as he turned and slowly faded out:
"Janet was crying when she left."
"Wha.. Urgo! Come back" but silence was his only answer. Looking quickly at his watch he realised he had half an hour before he was due to see the General. Dressing quickly he opened the door and ran towards the infirmary with an Airman at his heels.
"Janet! Janet!" yelled Daniel as he ran into the infirmary, running head first into a nurse who he knocked to the ground.
"Oh, god! I'm sorry" he cried helping her to her feet. "Are you ok?" when she nodded, he quickly scanned the room.
"Where's Dr Fraiser?"
"I don't know, I've only just come on. But I do know she's not on duty till 08.00 hundred, if you like I can get Dr Warner.."
"No, that's ok I'll see Dr Fraiser later. Thanks and sorry.."
Daniel slowly walked out of the infirmary feeling very confused. Not looking where he was going he ran straight into a solid object, firm hands clasped around his arms preventing him from falling.
"Whoa Danny! Today just isn't your day, heard you've been knocking around the nurses.." Moving his head Daniel found himself looking at a very amused Colonel closely followed by an equally amused Major all three surrounded by guards. Daniel automatically smiled, no one can not when presented with that smile, however, it never reached his eyes and as he studied his closest friend's face he realised that Jack's didn't either. "Damn you, Urgo" he whispered quietly to himself.

Chapter 3 - Confrontations
~0o0~
They sat around the table, each lost in their own private misery, only Teal'c remained unaffected by Urgo's meddling, yet he too felt the sorrow of his friends; not only because of his shared memories and feelings from their connection with Urgo, but from an emotional bond that only occurs between the best of friends. They all jumped when General Hammond entered the room.
"We've sent a MALP through to P4x884, it seems Togar has returned from his journey and is very anxious to see you."
"Did you ask why Urgo has returned?" asked Sam
"Yes, we did, but he refused to answer. He said he would talk to you and you alone."
"SG1 you leave at 1300 hundred. Dismissed." The General stood and left, noticing how strained and quiet they all were.
"Well kids," joked Jack trying to break the mood. "Looks like we're off to see the wizard!... Again!" A small laugh broke the immediate tension as they stood to prepare for the journey.
Daniel made a side trip to the commissary, after grabbing a strong coffee he moved over to a table in the corner, his back to the room, lost in his thoughts. He jumped when a soft hand touched his back.
"Daniel Jackson, do you require company?" Asked Teal'c not waiting for Daniel to reply before taking the chair across from the archaeologist.
"Hey Teal'c." he murmured.
"Daniel Jackson, why aren't you with Dr Fraiser, it was my belief that you had initiated the Tau'ri custom of courtship with her last night."
"yeah, well it didn't go too well, Teal'c"
"Why? I know you care about her, Daniel Jackson. She too, cares for you a great deal."
"Oh Yeah!" he yelled not caring who else was in the room. "Then why did she leave me like that?" quickly looking around the room, he noticed the curious stares. "Why? If she cares for me so much.., how could she leave me to feel so..." he continued in lower tones, his voice fading to a whisper as the emotion welled in his throat.
"I do not know Daniel Jackson, but it's my experience that the Tau'ri are complicated in matters of the heart. Would not it be better to discuss this matter with her?" Teal'c smiled in sympathy as his friend lowered his head to hide unshed tears. Deciding that Daniel needed time alone, Teal'c stood and left the commissary, a magnetic compulsion giving purpose to his step.

Jack walked past the infirmary, absently toying with a key card sliding it between his fingers. Suddenly he stopped, his hand reaching for the door knob closest to him, looking up he read the sign indicating that it was Doctor Fraiser's office. What was he doing here? He wondered. Turning to leave, shoving his hand back into his pocket he narrowly missed walking into Teal'c's massive form.
"Teal'c! What are you doing here?" The jaffa halted in mid-stride, raising an eyebrow in confusion.
"I do not know, O'Neill. I suddenly felt a strange compulsion to see Doctor Fraiser."
Jack ran his fingers through his slightly greying hair, "That's odd" he said, "That's what I felt too."
A sudden noise caused them to turn and see a bewildered Sam walking up the corridor, confusion clouding her features as she recognised the two figures standing outside her destination.
"You too?" Drawled Jack, as they traded puzzled looks.
"Urgo!" cried Sam, "It has to be, for some reason he wants us here."
They barely had time to digest the information when a close voice startled them.
"Hey Guys, What's up?" asked a bemused Janet. Smiling at Janet, then at her friends Sam quickly covered for them.
"I was coming to see you, and the boys here accompanied me, they were just leaving now." she said pointedly. Jack and Teal'c recognized the not too subtle hint and with a lasting smile turned and walked away.
"So, Sam, what was it you wanted to see me about?"
"Ah, Janet, its, um, about this Urgo thing, I, uh, wanted to talk to you about last night. It seems, uh.. Oh look, here comes Daniel." They both turned to watch Daniel walk up the corridor, Sam noticed the stiffening of Janet's form and cursed herself for not having the courage to just get it all out in the open with Janet and tell her what an idiot she was being.
"Hey Daniel. I was just leaving, don't forget we're leaving in an hour!" she called behind her as she walked back the way she had come.

Janet stood confused by her friends sudden departure. Taking a deep breath to steady herself she turned and greeted Daniel. A small smile answered her tentative greeting, they stood there for what seemed like minutes, but in actual fact it was only seconds, before Daniel spoke.
"Janet, we need to talk. In private" he added as he saw the curious looks from those that passed.
"Yes we do. Come into my office. Do you want some coffee?" when he shook his head she moved to her desk, sitting down, shuffling papers, looking for anything to keep her hands busy. She didn't look at him, couldn't look at him, for if she did, she knew the tears would flow. She tensed when she felt strong warm hands still her own.
"Janet!" he whispered. Turning her chair, he knelt before her.
"Why? Why did you leave me?" was all he asked. Janet's mind reeled with confusion. Anger she could deal with. Aloofness or indifference she could handle. But deep hurt was not something she was prepared for. The immeasurable pain in his eyes brought uncontrollable tears to her own. Why was he so hurt? If the events of last night had been nothing but lust, why was he so hurt? He said he'd cared for me, that he'd wanted me, but he never said he loved me, but if he doesn't, why is he so hurt? The slow realisation of his feelings brought a stab of happiness to her, but she daren't believe it, not yet. Instinctively, she knew that she would have to make the first move, she must risk rejection and hope she was right..
"Daniel" she whispered. "I left because I was scared.."
Lifting his head to look into her eyes, he saw the tears and for the first time felt hope.
"Scared?"
"Yes, I was scared that in the morning you would feel differently. I knew Urgo was playing with your mind. I. I couldn't have bared to wake and see the rejection in your eyes.. I knew you cared about me.., but that isn't enough, not for me, not now. So I left."
Janet's face showed deep hurt as Daniel began to laugh.. "What idiots we've been."
"Janet, I love you! Last night when I held you in my arms I was the happiest I've ever been. I've never felt so loved, so content, so... complete. Janet, you complete me! Marry me?" he held his breath as she absorbed what he had said, he watched the emotions dance across her face; he watched the happiness glow in her eyes as she moved to kneel in front of him.
"Yes!" she cried "I." but her words were lost as he captured her mouth in a passionate embrace. So lost in her happiness, she barely heard him whisper.
"Thankyou.."

Chapter 4 - Return to P4X884

Sam was just leaving the locker room as Jack arrived. Almost bumping into each other; they stood there for an awkward moment that seemed to go on forever, until a soft hand on her arm brought Sam out of her reverie.
"Can we talk?" he asked. Acknowledging her nod of assent, Jack moved her back into the locker room closing the door behind them. Guiding her to a bench they sat down. Sam was looking down at the foor whe she felt soft fingers on her chin turning her head towards him.
"Are you ok?" asked Jack. A sad smile lit her features.
"Yeah, I'll be ok. Its just.." She was interrupted when the locker room door swung open and a triumphant looking Daniel walked in, closely followed by Teal'c. Turning back to Sam, Jack smiled. Taking his hands into her own, he whispered in her ear, brushing her cheek with his lips.
"We'll work it out... someday... we have to." With that he stood up and moved to his locker. Sam watched him for a moment, and then she too stood, and left the room.

"Chevron 6 is locked" came Davis' voice over the PA.
The four friends stood at the edge of the ramp, watching but not really seeing the chevrons locking into place. Each lost in their own private thoughts they jumped when the Gate whooshed open, leaving the event horizon glowing within the confines of the circle.
"SG1 you have a go" commanded General Hammond. Jack turned and offered him a short salute before leading his team up the ramp. Sam and Jack were the last to walk through the gate. With their backs to the Gateroom team; they shared a secret smile before stepping through the gate, as one.

The four friends stood at the other end of the gate taking in their familiar yet unfamiliar surroundings. The amnesia effect that Togar had placed on them last time prevented them from fully remembering the events of their last visit, but it was there on the edge of their minds, waiting only for the stimulus that would set it free. At the other end of the room the massive metal doors swung open. Raising their guns, they waited to see what or who would come through the darkened doorway. Togar stepped through, a dark angry look in his eyes.
"Urgo!" he yelled. Suddenly the team's memories came flooding back; they remembered everything. As one they moved to Togar, who seeing their furious countenances began to back up, at last bringing a smile to his features.
"I.. I am sorry" he stammered. "This was never meant to happen. Urgo was never meant to return.."
"You lied to us!" interrupted a furious Jack. "You promised to take these. things out of our heads!"
"I.. I.. I'm sorry" for once Togar was lost for words.
"Yeah, you've already said that." Came the sarcastic reply. "But why?" It seemed like an age before Togar spoke.
"I didn't want to end
the experiment. Urgo was a symptom that should have never occurred
and I believed that I had removed the fault. It had to do with the power
source; I simply turned it onto a minimal setting, so that it wouldn't
show on any scans and so that it would not allow enough energy for the
symptom, uh, Urgo to appear. I then copied the chip which I inserted
into my own brain so
that I would now control Urgo."
"That's it! I was right!" cried Sam. They all turned to here with questioning glances. "The electromagnetic pulse on P5X799..." Seeing that they didn't understand she continued. "The electric shock we felt was from an electromagnetic field. The same energy source as the chip. When we received the shock, it must have provided enough energy for Urgo to appear again and to appear on the scans that Doctor Fraiser took."
"Yeah, well we now know how it was done, but can we make sure he won't do it again?"
"I promise, this time I will remove the chips completely. I never thought that the chip would be returned to maximum power. When that happened your chips, as the prototypes, were the default receivers for Urgo's presence. It will not happen again. I will remove the chip. You have my word. Please if you will step over here.." he pleaded, pointing to the device that would remove the chip.
"Goodbye friends.. For what its worth, I'm sorry" called Urgo who was now standing behind Togar.
Daniel turned and offered him a sympathetic smile. He understood that Urgo craved new experiences, that he was as much a victim as they had been. He believed he was truly sorry and he hoped he had learned that playing with human emotions was a business fraught with danger that could only lead to one result, misery. They moved to stand under the device that would remove the chip. They were stunned as the laser hit them. When it was over they fell to their knees.
"I think it's definitely gone this time," gasped Jack. All three nodded their agreement. Soon they stood, and as one, they turned to Togar.
"You see; I have done what I promised. Now you may go"
"But..." Daniel was interrupted as he once again attempted to work out some sort of exchange of knowledge with Togar. However, the four friends were surrounded by a bright light and vanished.

"Incoming traveller" called Davis over the PA. "Its SG1"
They fell out of the gate, propelled by an unknown force.
"Glad your back SG1, were you successful in having the chip removed?"
"Wha. But didn't we just.." Asked a confused Jack.
"SG1 you've been gone over 24hrs! Report to the infirmary!"
~0o0~
Hours later, General Hammond entered the infirmary to check on his premier crew.
"What's the diagnosis Dr Fraiser?"
"They are all fine, their MRIs and Electron Resonance scans have all come back clear. Apart from not being able to remember what happened, their fine."
"Good!" Turning to face the team. "We'll debrief in one hour." With that he turned and left.
Jack was sitting on the edge of a gurney swinging his legs, desperate to leave. He really, really didn't like the infirmary, way too close to a certain doctor and her needles. He glanced at Sam and was shocked to realise she was watching him. That's odd, he thought to himself. I get this feeling.. They both looked away, only to look back moments later. Confused, Jack arched his eyebrow in a silent question, but Sam simply shrugged as confused as he.
"Well kids, looks like we can go play. Anyone want to grab some coffee?"
"Sure, Sir." Replied Sam,
"I will accompany you." Added Teal'c. The four friends stood up to leave. They had just reached the door when Doctor Fraiser spoke.
"Dr Jackson, may I speak to you a moment?" Daniel turned to his friends and indicated that they should go ahead; he'd catch up with them later. Janet indicated that he should sit. Jumping up onto the edge of a gurney he looked at her questioningly.
"You don't remember anything at all?"
"No, nothing. The last thing I can remember is being on P5X799 we were entering the Artemisian's generator to have a look around.."
"I see." She replied. Grabbing his hand she started to lead him away.
"Where are we going?" asked a perplexed Daniel. Janet flashed him a wicked smile.
"To refresh your memory!"
