If she chose the baby over the treatment they told her she'd have weeks left to live. Months after that they told her she had days. Weeks later I watched our daughter take her first breath, moments later I watched my wife take her last. If she chose the baby over the treatment they told her she'd die. She chose the baby. Fate is a cruel master indeed that one life must be sacrificed to save another. If we'd known that this would be fate's decree then maybe we wouldn't have chosen our careers over our happiness for so long. If we'd known then maybe I could have had them both. If we hadn't had to keep saving the world then maybe we could have had the world.
