An Amazing Conversation
Sam walked into the house late one night, kicking off her shoes, and leaving her coat on the coat rack as she went by.
“You're home late,” Jack said sensing her exhaustion. “Hard day at the lab? There are some leftovers still from last night; do you want me to warm them up for you?”
“In a few minutes, I need to talk to you first.” Sam said walking over and sitting down in his lap. “I had an interesting conversation today with Daniel.”
“Oh, what was it?” Jack asked almost concerned and curious at the same time.
Sam reached down and kissed him as she snuggled into his lap before telling him. "Actually, it was an amazing conversation, one I think you're going to like.”
“Tell me,” he said impatiently, while he caressed her arm under her sweater. Gosh, he loved that baby blue sweater on her, and what it did to him.
“We don't have to hide anymore.” She started grinning as he listened to her retell her conversation with Daniel. His eyes still falling on how that blue sweater hugged her body.
------------
“Hey, Sam, I thought I would come by and see what you're up too. What's that? ”
“It's a part of the hyperdrive for the X303; the guys at Langley are still having problems stabilizing the Naqudrea. So, I thought I would have a look, now that the Tok'ra finished downloading the crystal onto a portable hard drive.”
“Well, if anyone can figure it out you can.”
“Thanks. I just didn't bother to tell the guys at Langley, that I have instructions they don't have.” Sam grinned back at him.
Daniel laughed, “Well, what they don't know, only makes you look better.”
“Exactly! So, what's up with you?”
“I was just going through some old mission reports; still getting everything back together in my head.”
“I bet. I don't know how you've done it so fast; I mean loosing your entire life's memory and having to dig it all back up. Sometimes you amaze me Daniel.”
“Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about.”
“You, amazing me?”
“Funny. No, actually about a memory of when I was ascended.”
“Oh, I don't know if I can help you out there or not.” Sam continued to work on the hyperdrive in front of her just glancing at Daniel from time to time.
“Actually I think you can. You see it involves you, Jack, Teal'c, and Bra’tac but not here on Earth, I think maybe on…uhm…Chulak.” He knew, he just wanted to see her reaction and if she would volunteer anything. She didn't and he wasn't surprised.
Sam was trying to keep a poker face but had to move around the room so Daniel couldn't see her face. “Well, we've been to Chulak a few times, are you sure this isn't *before* you ascended?”
“No, it's definitely during my…ah…time away. Let me tell you what I remember and you can tell me if I got it right. You guys left here to attend talks with some rebel Jaffa or so Hammond thought. The day I am talking about, started out cold, and it looked like it was going to rain, but you and Jack were hoping for a warm sunshiny day. You know how Jack hates the rain. Anyway, does any of this sound familiar?”
“I'm not sure; we've been rained on a few times there while talking to the rebel Jaffa, and I prefer a warm sunny day to a cold wet one anywhere.” Her heart was pounding wildly, could he know, what would he do?
“Well, maybe this will help your memory. There was this ceremony and Bra’tac was officiating. Well, just before the ceremony started, and to everyone's surprise, the sun came out, it got warm and perfect for such an outdoor celebration as this. For the entire duration of the celebration, all 4 days, the weather was spring like, not normal for deep winter.”
Daniel stopped and looked at Sam; she was not going to give herself away until she knew exactly where he was going with this. He wasn't surprised.
“Sam, I know, I was there for the entire celebration standing guard with Teal'c and Rac’noid.”
“Uhhh…Daniel was that you that made the weather change that day?”
“Yeah, I wanted to give you your perfect day. You deserved it. Controlling the weather was easy when I was ‘an Ancient’ and it was the only present I could give you at the time.”
“Thank you. It was the most perfect present I've ever got from anyone.” Sam walked over and gave him a hug. “Okay, so what about the team, are you saying you want to breakup SG-1? Are you uncomfortable with…?”
“Oh no...no...no...no...no, I just wanted you and Jack to know, that I know, and that I'm okay with it. That's all. I don't want anything to change with the team. And I wanted you to know that I was there. I remember you saying at the time, you wished I could have been there. It's kinda my belated present to you.” He smiled shyly.
“You know, if it hadn't been for you, we might not have ever…made that trip.” Sam said. Sometimes the walls of SGC had ears; they both knew that discreetness was required even if they were the only two in the room.
“What do you mean?”
“I know about a certain conversation you had, while ascended.” He looked at her funny.
“What conversation? I'm sure I had a few.”
“Maybe I should let you think about it for a while, Daniel.” Sam winked at her friend.
“OH, *that* conversation. Huh, I didn't think he would remember. I thought his subconscious would just give him reasons to act on it.”
“He told me about the whole thing, including how you helped him to wake up. That was the catalyst that got us to where we are today.” Daniel smiled satisfyingly at her as she spoke.
“I'm so glad and if you'll let Jack know that you guys don't have to hide it from me on or off world. I know that no one else besides Teal'c knows on Earth, at least, and your secret's safe with me.”
“Thanks Daniel, you have no idea how much this helps.” Sam was trying to hide the tear forming in her eye.
“Well, I kinda like this new and improved Jack, he's a bit mellower now. Just don't tell him I said that.” He said hoping to make her laugh so she won't be embarrassed about the tear.
“I won't,” Sam promised and laughed as he turned to leave. “Daniel you really do amaze me sometimes, thank you.”
Daniel left her lab elated, feeling his world and family were finally coming back together.
----------
“Wow! So Danny-boy knows, and he isn't upset?” Jack asked actually taking his eyes off her sweater and looking in her eyes.
“Yep and he's not upset at all. So we don't have to hide from him on or off world and on missions, like we did with Jonas.”
Jack scooped her up in his arms and took her to the bedroom.
“Well, Mrs. O’Neill I want to hide you in here for a while.” He said as he placed her gently down on the bed and started removing the sweater that was driving him nuts! He swore she would wear it just to get this response from him.
Sam giggled, “Oh really? You'd never let me out of here if you had your way.”
“Not in that sweater, I won't,” He smiled back.
