She watched, helplessly, as he futilely tried to break the control panel.
Why wouldn't he leave? Why was he going to let himself die in vain when he could get out?
"Sir, just go!" her voice pleaded to him.
One final attempt.
//You're running out of time.//
"NO!" he shouted, standing quickly to face her.
Their eyes met in confusion as to what had just occurred; raw emotion displayed.
She cocked her head, brow furrowed slightly as he silently mouthed something unrecognisable. Inconceivable.
And from that moment, she knew it in her heart.
They would never be the same again.
