Story Notes: Autor's Note: Ok, my first fanfic I ever released so please be kind. And a huge thanks to my dictionary, which translated German words in English for me and to Erika for beta reading this short fic.

It was night on P3X-456, and Danny and Teal'c were already sleeping. Jack lay down a few feet away from the camp and gazed up at the sky.

Sam: Sir?

Jack: Carter?

Sam: You okay?

Jack: Yeah, Carter, just thinking.

Sam: Thinking, sir?

Jack: Yeah. About my work. My life. Friends. All that stuff that crowds into your mind when it's night and you can't sleep.

Sam: I see.

Jack: Come and lay down over here, Carter.

Sam: Excuse me, sir?

Jack: It's okay. I just want to talk to you.

She laid down next to him.

Jack: Can I ask you something, Carter?

Sam: Sure.

Jack: Do you think I look all right... you know... for a guy my age?

Sam (blushing): What's brought this on, sir?

Jack: Well... I haven't had a proper relationship since I divorced Sara, and I was just wondering... you being a woman... Could you be attracted to me? I just want you to be honest.

Sam: Of course.

Jack: Really?

Sam: Yes... but...

Jack: But what? C'mon Carter.

Sam: It's difficult getting used to your sense of humour.

Jack: But you always laugh at my jokes.

Sam: That's true, but... (shakes her head) no...

Jack: No what?

Sam: I can't say it.

Jack: Say what?

Sam: It's too embarrassing.

Jack: Then I'll have to tickle you!

Sam (giggling): No sir, please!

She jumped to her feet and started to run away.

Jack: You'll just leave me here, alone?

Sam: Oh yes, sir!

He chased after her.

Jack: Hey Carter, you can't do that! I'm your colonel.

Sam: Yeah, that's why I'm running away.

It was so dark, Sam couldn't see the hill suddenly slope down in front of her.

Sam: Colonel !!!

At that last moment, Jack grabbed her arms and pulled her back with such strength that he fell onto his back with Sam on top of him. Silently, they stared at each other. Jack caressed her cheek.

Jack: Don't you know how beautiful you are?

Sam giggled sheepishly.

Jack: You laugh like an angel.

Sam wanted to get up but Jack held her fast.

Jack: No, not before you tell me what you're thinking.

Sam: How about I just show you?

She pressed her lips to his and for both of them, it was as if their dreams came true. It was as if this kiss would never end.
